At least that way I get home to watch the Draft on the laptop as I seriously doubt that the coach from the pub will have wi-fi ;)

Yes, Elliott, we'll be on stag duties with Stevek but should definitely meet to talk about Paul behind his ba... I mean, to discuss the draft and all other things NFL.

pauldrulez 23-04-2009 05:23 PM

I was expecting you to say that ;)

Elliott already invited me about 10 days back on Facebook :) :D

'Lusting' may prove to be the wrong choice of words there Paul .... :o

You didn't see me last year over Gholston.

Speaking of Gholston, he has changed numbers from 56 to 50. I'm back on the bandwagon (well, not really)

pauldrulez 23-04-2009 07:42 PM

Looks like Tony Gonzalez is about to become or has become an Atlanta Falcon.

Not certain on the draft pick, but I would take a guess at it being a 2nd rounder.

pauldrulez 23-04-2009 07:50 PM

Before I go and finish off my earlier drunkness (drunkenness?) for St. Georges Day (might as well get completely smashed)

If anyone has done a mock, I am collating all the main mock drafts as well as my own, a few other people from the website as well as our site mock draft and putting them in one big spreadsheet.

If you want yours added to the collection to see how you compare, then PM me or let me know. I'll upload it tomorrow night once I get some (non NFL, computer, draft or even Palace) problems out of the way.

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade perennial Pro Bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons for a second-round pick in the 2010 draft.
Good move keeping this year's picks in a deep draft.

Interesting to see how the draft goes this weekend.

Watching lots of NFL Network and very interested to see who Crabtree, BJ Raji, and especially Sanchez end up.

Sanchez is the interesting one. Many thinking he could be a Top 5 pick. I see the Skins are being seriously touted, but if he is still around for the 10th pick, I predict the 49ers will snap him up. They are in desperate need of a QB.

They were even saying that if the Lions dont agree terms with Stafford before the draft, the may look elsewhere. Be interesting to see how things unfold.

No way he lasts until 10. The Rams, Chiefs, Seahawks and Browns are all playing a serious game of chicken now. I don't think any of those teams want their pick and they're all shopping to teams who want Sanchez. The Rams leak they might pick him, the Chiefs tell teams that the Seahawks will pick him, rumor has it the Seahawks might pick him, and Cleveland is desperate to stockpile picks.

I just don't think Sanchez is a top 10 pick. You're talking about a guy who had a weak schedule last year and where the main talking point on that team was still the defence.

Don't think I'd like to pick Sanchez in round 1 at all actually.

jazman 24-04-2009 10:56 PM

Superbowl to be held at Wembley within six years?

Interesting ... but I just can't see the US doing or allowing it ...

He's definitely a 1st Round talent (I don't care about his schedule at all), and he definitely won't go outside the Top 10. I would guess that he won't get past Jacksonville at #8 if he falls that far.

pauldrulez 25-04-2009 09:49 AM

Rumours from everywhere suggesting the Pats are trading up to the Jags or Packers spot. With the roster we have, there is no way 11 rookies will make the team, so it wouldn't surprise me to see us pick the best pass-rusher available.

Out of interest, who do you all see as the top pass-rusher? Orakpo, Everette Brown or someone else?

pauldrulez 25-04-2009 11:22 AM

Matthew Stafford is a Detroit Lion.

Now, whether or not this would be a good idea (probably not, but hear me out)

Would they have been better off taking either Curry or Jason Smith/Eugene Monroe with their first pick and sealing up some more of their defense and their line with picks 20 and 33.

There would be no way that the team gets good enough to be out of the top 6 picks next year. Right now, I think there are 2, maybe 3 quarterbacks better than the ones that came out this year that will be available in 2010. Bradford will be the number one pick and then you have McCoy, Tebow and the guy from Ole Miss (Snead?, if he chooses to come out).

But, I suppose this depends on how they compare Stafford and Bradford.

I'd like to know what people who watch a lot of College Football to compare the two better than I can

Some more draft updates I can help with.

The San Diego Chargers are announcing their picks before the Commissioner via their website.

The Patriots will be doing the same via their official Twitter page.

The Patriots have received over 30 trade offers for their picks so far this weekend (via an insider):o

Looking for more stuff on teams relevant to the forum.

pauldrulez 25-04-2009 12:05 PM

More news:

The Rams have a flight booked for Mark Sanchez to get from LA to St. Louis tomorrow when they are due to show off their new pick.

Reported by my favourite NFL Network guy Steve Wyche.

Could be trying to get someone to trade up (maybe an aggressive owner, with lots of money to spare, cough Snyder cough)

I would do this as a Twitter style information page, but that involves more effort for some reason.

jlmatthews 25-04-2009 04:06 PM

So sad the draft is starting so late this year. Pisses me off. Why mess with it?
