Too much?

Quote:

In May, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell mentioned the possibility of playing more than one game per season in London.

On Thursday, Goodell repeated the desire, and sounded more confident it would happen -- soon. Goodell said that it's possible there will be multiple games played in London as early as 2010.

He also said that he could foresee a franchise in London someday, although that possiblity will be far off.

The NFL doesn't have the total overseas presence that the NBA and Major League Baseball do, but interest in Europe is clearly growing. Adding a second game will only help.

The trick will be finding two teams every year willing to give up a home game to play overseas. Finding one seems challenging as it is.

A London based team wont work. 2 games a season would be nice or what would be really good would be one regular season game and maybe one year a Superbowl!

pauldrulez 04-09-2009 12:09 AM

I wouldn't want the Superbowl here.

Chances of getting tickets would be very slim.

From what I was told, the Pats have 60000+ season ticket holders. For SB42, they got 20000 tickets between them. The rest go to famous people, officials, luminaries, random weirdos and Roger Goodell.

I'll take 2 games. One in Week 4, One in Week 10. Gives a break between the games and allows an early bye week and a late bye week.

Followed very quickly by WWIII, if not after the game then after the announcement. ;)

They would hate it so much if we got it.

Maybe more than they hate the French

More chance of the Ashes being played in Russia than the Super Bowl going overseas... The whole country would go into meltdown.

I'd love Goodell to try it. He would be shouted down so quick, he would be backtracking like Michael Jackson moonwalked.

He'd probably quickly end up where Wacko Jacko is now...

Hopefully, I mean. I hope not....

I've decided to take advantage of my bruised/infected eye and get some sleep.

Giants 1st and now 2nd team killing the 3rd team Patriots. Only pre-season, but I can only take so much of seeing Justin Tuck kill an Undrafted Free Agent QB.

pauldrulez 04-09-2009 01:03 AM

And as I say that, UDFA Jamar Love mistimes a jump. Nicks catches it and breezes 64 yards for a TD. 21-0. Not even 10 mins in.

1sts and 2nds vs 3rds isn't fair or funny. :( First 100pt game? :sob:

pauldrulez 04-09-2009 01:05 AM

And now our premiere Kick Returner appears to have broken his arm. I should have gone to bed.

Swanny32 04-09-2009 08:19 AM

Sounds like one hell of a game between the Giants and Pats last night!

pauldrulez 04-09-2009 08:37 AM

I waited for us to score before I exited.

Then decided to see if we could stop their offense.

And before I knew it, I was into the 4th quarter :D

Biggest pre-season comeback in Pats history.

I may have been a tad overreacting last night considering it was Hoyer and the scrubs against a first team D at times. And Manning/Carr led drives straight through the scrubs without an incompletion until Woodson came in.

Best result, my guy Terrence Nunn had a great Kickoff Return, had 3 big receptions and showed himself on Special Teams. With Slater's injury, he should make it on the roster which would be amazing.

NFL Total Access showed Brady throwing ok in practice

Can't wait to see Albert dish out more pain to Romo, Manning and McNabb :)

nookiebear 04-09-2009 08:55 AM

If we get two London games they need to spread them out so the novelty remains

Maybe weeks four and 14?

Swanny32 04-09-2009 09:25 AM

I'm not sure the novelty would wear off to be fair, if you are an NFL fan in the UK you'd want to see as many games as possible, or I would anyway. If they reduced the ticket prices then I'm sure two game would sell out no problems.

pauldrulez 04-09-2009 01:56 PM

Can't have week 14, need a bye week after the game.

Between weeks 4 and 11 at the earliest and worst.

BLUE BOY 04-09-2009 07:18 PM

Sky have signed a new 3 year deal to show a game at 6pm and 9pm, no red button games though which is a shame. I imagine the monday night games will go to ESPN.

BLUE BOY 04-09-2009 07:21 PM

Games on TV for first 4 weeks are
Week One:
Season opener - Thursday night 1am: Tennessee @ Pittsburgh
6pm: Minnesota @ Cleveland
9pm: Washington @ New York Giants

Week Two:
6pm: New Orleans @ Philadelphia
9pm: Tampa Bay @ Buffalo

Week Three:
6pm: Tennessee @ New York Jets
9pm: Miami @ San Diego

Week Four:
6pm: Baltimore @ New England
9pm: Dallas @ Denver

Swanny32 04-09-2009 07:51 PM

Looks like I might have to get ESPN in that case.
