Agreed on that one Steve.

Going on to Nooks question.

How happy am I with the roster?

QB - If Brady goes down we're screwed anyway, so might as well have Hoyer learn behind him.
RB - 5 very good RB's with different jobs
WR - Moss, Welker, Galloway. Awesome. Aiken - ST captain, Edelman - mini-Welker, Lewis-meh. Brandon Tate on Reserve/NFI
TE: Baker, Watson and a blocking TE we got from NYG last night.
OL: 3 Tackles. All good. 4th LeVoir on PUP. 7 Interior Linemen on the roster.
DL: It must be a 4-3 this year. Very surprised about the rookies making it. Pryor and Brace done enough to allow Bill to let Seymour go.
LB: Mayo and Thomas will threaten the ProBowl this year. Mayo is a beast. He has free rein in the 4-3 to blitz and not just go up in between the tackles like last year. Guyton good, but no depth after that.
CB: Much better than last year without question. All 5 are better than Hobbs.
S: 2 starters, a rookie and a capable backup in McGowan.
Specialists: Pro Bowler Gostkowski, Hanson is average at punting but is the holder and Rookie Ingram beat out Hodel to replace Paxton at Long Snapper.

I like the roster but worried about some depth.

On the plus side, TERRENCE NUNN MADE THE PRACTICE SQUAD :lux: :lux: :lux:

Best news of the off-season. So happy for him.

I thought the young guy you had behind the main two QBs was highly thought of Nookie? Colt Brennan wasn't it?

nookiebear 07-09-2009 02:28 PM

Yes, he's been placed on injured reserved.

He's a gun slinger so splits Redskins fans. Some like his cavalier throwing attitude and gutsy plays. And they like his college stats. Others think he's too risky and throws too many INTS

Skins only wanted two QBs so they could have 10 linesman and four running backs

I've often wondered why teams have gone with three QBs as No3 never gets a look in (rarely)

Swanny32 07-09-2009 04:24 PM

NFL UK and Sky Sports have finally setup their fantasy football if anyone is interested.

Means they can take 46 into the gameday squad rather than 45. Just as extra insurance.

The Chiefs-Patsies game featured 5 QBs. Brady went down. Cassel came in. Croyle went down, Huard came in. Huard went down and Thigpen went in (may have been someone else though)

Bored shitless at work so have started a spreadsheet with all the TV games over the up coming season. Not sure if it will benefit anyone but I needed something to fill the last hour or 2.

I'll keep updating it once Sky, ESPN and C5 come out with any further games.

pauldrulez 07-09-2009 05:28 PM

I think looking at the spreadsheet has made my mind up.

I'll be getting Gamepass.

The gameday squad includes 45 players, but also a special spot reserved only for a 3rd string QB. So it's like an extra roster spot that it's silly not to take.

So you should really pick 3 QBs since it costs you nothing

jlmatthews 07-09-2009 06:26 PM

I am absolutely ******* buzzing for Thursday night. :lux:

It's back :)

pauldrulez 07-09-2009 06:43 PM

Agreed :lux:

Love it, Love it, Love it.

But, if you bring in the 3rd QB before the 4th quarter, you cannot use the 1st/2nd QB again in the game.

E.G: McNabb gets hurt. They can't bring Kolb in. They are left with Vick as he will be the 2nd QB as he will be in as the Wildcat guy as well.

elliott, How will the Phins get around it? Pennington, White and Henne?

elliott 07-09-2009 07:10 PM

I'd imagine Henne will be officially the 3rd. If he ever gets in the game, it will be because Pennington is injured. Although that may change depending on the team/injury worries etc.

That's what I'm hoping. Otherwise White is entirely useless.

pauldrulez 07-09-2009 07:23 PM

That's what I thought.

I'm wondering if the Patriots use Edelman as 2nd QB with Hoyer as the inactive 3rd.

Would free up an extra space on the 45 man gameday squad for another Special Teamer.

elliott 07-09-2009 07:40 PM

If people are struggling with the idea, imagine that the football league said that you could have a substitute goalie on the bench and therefore available, but not taking up an official substitute spot.

It means that everyone in the world would play a sub goalie (since it "costs" you nothing), even Warnock, since you're no longer wasting a substitute space on a player who will "hardly ever play"...

pauldrulez 07-09-2009 08:00 PM

I like the comparisons we've been doing recently between the two footballs.

Palace normally equal Baltimore Ravens. Good defense. Young offense that has struggled.

This year we equal Cincinnati Bengals. Meh Defense. Offense with high potential and star players but ultimately don't combine to do what they should.

Swanny32 07-09-2009 08:10 PM

Thats funny, i'd compare us more to the Lions, Shit!

pauldrulez 07-09-2009 08:18 PM

Fair point.

What about the Chiefs?

Young. Developing with some stars (Flowers, CB for example). Has the odd experienced face in defense.

pauldrulez 08-09-2009 12:02 AM

Anyone want to have a grasp at whats going on with the Seymour situation with Oakland. Too strange.

In a move that will definitely surprise the Eagles fans here.

Greg Lewis has been cut.

Means 5 WR's on the Roster. 1 of which is a 7th round QB and another is a Special Teamer.

Bodes well for my guy Nunn.

Not me Paul, If you remember the quote, I posted at the time you signed him - "Aligator Arms"

One up for AR - a fifth round pick traded I believe (Macho Harris?) :lux: ;)
