Hoping Arsenal get smashed tonight.

Can't stand that club. They've not challenged for a league in about ten years, yet they feel they have a divine right to be there.

Clueless fans.

In fairness, if you were paying for the most expensive season ticket in the Premier League you'd have certain level of entitlement too.

TAK 22-10-2021 04:29 PM

As long as we beat the Saudi's and City smash the weed I don't care about the other results this weekend.

Eagle El 22-10-2021 08:31 PM

I see Saka is in the team for the Arse. According to a lot of Arse fans on twitter he was assassinated by Macca on Monday night!

Mr Palace 22-10-2021 08:49 PM

Miraculous recovery from Saka. I thought he had died on Monday.

bodger 22-10-2021 09:02 PM

Ings to score 1 2 and three goals is my bet Arsenal are soft

Very disappointing from Macca then. Hopefully he can try again on Saint-Maximin.

bubbs11 22-10-2021 09:14 PM

Benteke got sent off for that last season.

Good Shipp 22-10-2021 09:17 PM

One of those where I usually give the player the benefit of the doubt. But not for Mings

Totally shambolic from Villa. Utterly useless!
On this form, possible relegation candidates?

Penstone Eagle 22-10-2021 09:28 PM

Arsenal players have real trouble staying on their feet.

newish eagle 22-10-2021 09:40 PM

The pattern of tonight's game shows just how well we played Monday night. COYP!

Too many good players but they look awful so far tonight.

bodger 22-10-2021 09:45 PM

Arsenal should be out of sight if Villa score they will fold

EddieEdwards 22-10-2021 09:48 PM

Quite funny that Sky are taking advantage of Arsenal's absence from European competition by putting them on both Monday and Friday in a Europe week.

alf 22-10-2021 09:51 PM

Not worthy of a penalty in my book. Lacssette going down all the time under challenges in this game!

Wolfnipplechips 22-10-2021 09:51 PM

So what happens if the kick is saved… now half time has blown?

Can the kicker put in a rebound?

Wolfnipplechips 22-10-2021 09:51 PM

Oh?

Seemingly yes but a good question. I would have thought that logically the penalty taker should only have the one chance at a kick.

Wolfnipplechips 22-10-2021 09:54 PM

Convenient.

I assume if half time had been blown the final kick would be the penalty strike… otherwise a Villa player could take it down the pitch and score at the other end.

Penstone Eagle 22-10-2021 09:55 PM

Genuine attempt to clear the ball and a player sticks his foot in the way. Just wrong.

Some of their good players are massively overrated. Mings for a start

Penstone Eagle 22-10-2021 09:57 PM

If there was no var check he'd have blown for HT, he allowed additional time whilst they decided.

desperado 22-10-2021 09:59 PM

Mings ducked under the ball for the first goal. I hope Southgate is watching

Villa without Grealish look like how we used to be without Zaha. They look to be a poor side tonight

headliner 22-10-2021 10:01 PM

That’s the worst 45 minutes that I’ve seen from any premier league team for as long as I can remember. Mings laughable. 3 at the back with 2 very average wing backs! Front men totally isolated. Midfield overrun.
The manager urgently needs to change the shape at half time or this could be a big score!

jamesc_24 22-10-2021 10:04 PM

Always a couple of surprises in the season, Villa and Leeds are in the do do.

Sureagle 22-10-2021 10:06 PM

I only just realised Ings is playing. How many times did he touch the ball in the first half

I’m sure there must be a rule somewhere.

What would happen if the ball hit the post then came back out and hit the ‘keeper before going over the line?

Prince Phillip 22-10-2021 10:10 PM

There really isn’t anything to be petrified about Aston Villa, is there?

AJ 22-10-2021 10:18 PM

waiting for this game to boil over, I think it needs a red and a fight to make it more exciting.

AJ 22-10-2021 10:19 PM

3-0

Eagle's Nest 22-10-2021 10:20 PM

I see Saka has made a miraculous recovery from the horrific injury he sustained on Monday night.

There is much more space in the midfield for Arsenal tonight than they had against us and they are making the most of it.

eagles #1 22-10-2021 10:21 PM

How much did Villa pay for Buendia? :D

Prince Phillip 22-10-2021 10:25 PM

Playing Watkins and Ings together is a lovely idea, but it really isn’t the 90s anymore. Unfortunately.

Pubface 22-10-2021 10:25 PM

Three goals against and four yellow cards so far for Villa - not a good night for them

There was a gap between the penalty tackle and the ref blowing for HT - if they go back to the pen then technically the time inbetween hasnt happened yet...

i.e.tackle for the penalty happens in the 46th minute. The ref then blows for HT on the 48th. VAR checks the tackle and the penalty is given - technically we're back at the 46th minute and still have 2 mins added time to go

What do they think of Dean Smith?

I’ve personally seen absolutely nothing about him at Villa so far which suggests he’s a manager worth backing with hundreds of millions in the market.

Reg_Maudling 22-10-2021 10:30 PM

loathe arsenal and their fans coming from beckenham and horsham and kent who have never had any link with highbury & islington - manchester united of the southeast

Thank you.

So what happens if either side scores a goal whilst waiting for VAR to make a decision about an earlier incident? Or a player receives a caution?

Presumably it’s cancelled?

Reg_Maudling 22-10-2021 10:32 PM

best for us that villa lose badly though

More specifically, if a player receives a red card for violent conduct, that would stand, no?

Prince Phillip 22-10-2021 10:40 PM

Without doing the exact mathematics, it looks like Brighton could be shunted about 5 or 6 places down without victory against Manchester City tomorrow.

Direwolf 22-10-2021 10:46 PM

Good goal from Villa but Partey bottled the tackle there.

i'd assume in the case of a possible card the game would be stopped for the offence - the previous var decision would be looked at and then dependant on the var outcome you'd either go back to the pen or issue a yellow/red and continue.

However, violent conduct is always a red card, whether it happens during the game, half time or in the tunnel after the match so would imagine anything that comes under that category would stand

Celestial Empire 22-10-2021 11:11 PM

Arsenal have a very thin team, don't they, all of the subs tonight just made them worse. Nothing much in reserve, no wonder Villa found a bit of traction in the final 10 mins.

Stellavista 22-10-2021 11:34 PM

The only thing that game taught me is that Palace are possibly better than we realise. Very hopeful for this team.

Yep. Only 1 game this season that we were clearly 2nd best - Chelsea away.

Otherwise we've looked good.

The investment in our centre backs makes me feel very comfortable going forward. For the first time in ages I feel like we’ll give every team a good game.

I’m enjoying watching us play and 8 points is the worst it could possibly have been. Have we been lucky yet?

Hudson Odoi 2-0

bubbs11 23-10-2021 02:02 PM

Even when we had our horror start under FDB, we still had more points after 8 games than they have after 8 and 9 now.

Norwich will do well to reach double figures this season based on this performance. I know Chelsea are a good side, but my god have Norwich been shocking.

Norwich just never invest in any players when they come up. It's a bit ridiculous, really, and it seems wrong to put their fans through these abject seasons when they'd done well if they collect more than 20 points. I don't get it.

Very very good GK!

Chelsea can score as many as they like here, interesting to see if they still push.

Yeah, the amount of money they make in the transfer market while being the best team in the Championship has given them a great chance to compete at the top level. They lose their best players and don't spend any money though.

Because they don't spend. What they get for the money they spend is great. That is the indicator of great recruitment. Otherwise I could just say Man City recruit brilliantly because they win trophies and everyone else is crap.
