Despite your Nectar Points offer, no way am I spending £40 in one hit.

And, good second attempt, but I am not spending £30 either. Get real.

Why have make an offer at all? Never understood that. No one will choose the BIN price so why not price at the amount you are happy with in the first place ? Waste of everyone’s time

I live alone, so I manage to spend below £30 in one hit easily as I have to shop twice a week. I don't drive, so I am limited to what I can easily carry on the bus. And, if I can re-ignite the on-line shopping argument, I prefer to see what I buy - quality, dates etc. Plus, I prefer Aldi and Lidl for some things because they are far cheaper and often better.

Here we go:

Furosemide 40mg a.m + 20mg p.m. - diuretic (although beer could also be a good diuretic too)
Ramipril - heart regulator/efficiency + blood pressure
Apixaban - anti-coagulant. I have to carry a warning card for this one.
Eplerenone - heart failure
Aspirin - blood thinner
Bisoprolol - blood pressure
Atorvastatin - reduces cholesterol
Metformin (twice daily) - for diabetes + helps blood pressure
Lansoprazole - eases stomach for the cocktail of pills.

+

Toujeo (Long-acting insulin injection)
Novorapid (Short-acting insulin injections 3 times daily mealtimes)

Not forgetting the pacemaker/defibrillator

I rattle when I walk. Some of them help as well when we are one up with 10 minutes still to go. If we are going to win the FA Cup before I pop my clogs, they are going to have to get their skates on :D

Salad_Burnet 27-07-2019 08:10 PM

Oh that's horrible. It reminds me of that famous beneton photo from the 80s of a hand holding the daily medication of a typical HIV sufferer.

Does that mean that your blood naturally coagulates or clots, like the opposite of haemophilia? Is it hereditary or more to do with the cholesterol thickening the blood, or the sugar in your blood not being processed properly and thickening the blood?

Anyway, thanks for the answer.

Not exactly. Following my heart attacks and by-pass I have stop my blood clotting with the Apixaban as clots could be dangerous. Also help prevent strokes. It is a more modern version of Warfarin. The other side of that is that serious wounds will struggle to stop bleeding, hence my warning card. It is a consequence of heart attacks/by-passes.

The Metformin and Insulin is for the diabetes (Type 2, thankfully). Excess sugar in the blood can damage to blood vessels that supply all organs. Anti-Cholesterol reduces fatty stuff in blood and helps prevent the new by-pass arteries clogging.

I am a complete basket case :D

We are currently being bombarded with trailers for the less than enticing The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan on The BBC. This is on the tail of The Ranganation, Asian Provocateur and some bollocks where he went on holiday with his mother (comedians and their parents ... never seen that before) on the same channel.

And then over on Dave we've had Judge Romesh and a series of Taskmaster. Sky have blessed us with The Reluctant Landlord, a series of A League of their Own and some bollocks featuring him and Rob Beckett being unfunny. Not to mention incessant appearances on shows like QI, Mock The Week, 8 out of 10 Cats, Live at the Apollo etc etc etc

Kudos to his agent; he's clearly earning his commission but fecking hell. He's hardly an innovative comedy talent. Enough already. Is anybody out there a particular fan?

Romesh should stick to stand up.
The annoyance comes from celebrities travelling TV shows, something I raised on this thread earlier.
There are exceptions- I liked the Michael Palin stuff, the Portillo train stuff & Timothy West/Prunella Scales canal programmes.

When was the term sliders invented then?

When I was a kid in the 90s I they were flip flops to me as we used to wear them for swimming. Is it not retronamed?. First I heard them called that is when dickheads started wearing socks with them. If the term did exist it’s like ‘snapbacks’ a term which is there to make them seem trendy (havent used that word since the 90s!)

Yes exactly.

What do you call this where you give something a new name to feel edgy. I know it’s marketing but it’s needs some pejorative term like ‘Hipsters’

That was the trend late 2000s; Havanas. Now it’s what I would have called ‘swimming pool flip flops’

I will add the gormless people who buy Supreme clothes.

Sorry, I was a bit triggered yesterday after dealing with a 14 year old girls screaming tantrum involving a flying guitar.

People who care about the difference between a flip flop and a slider.

(When they’re both the same thing)

foetus eagle 30-07-2019 03:05 PM

People who wear tiny burgers on their feet.

When was it coined a slider? Not when ‘Stormzy’ started wearing them but when before that. It’s a new name. It was called a bloody flip flop when I was a kid in the 90s. If you can tell me it was called that in pre-instagram influencer days I’ll back off.
