Most intriguing draft since I started following it.

Can't see the Brown's going anywhere but Darnold and all the signs seem to be the Giants sticking will Eli...so they go Barkley surely?

Then it gets interesting; Allen, Mayfield or Rosen? Jets need to get this right! This is such a fascinating pick for so many reason. Imagine the story lines to come in NY for the years to come if the Giants pass on a QB that goes on to have a stellar career for the Jets? Or he could be a bust and everyone in that front office gets fired.

Agreed, same 6am alarm as well!

Browns hold all the cards, but in a draft so stacked of QBs, not sure that is always a good thing as some teams may just sit and see what falls in their lap. All pre-mock drafts how Chubb going top 4, but I wouldnt be so sure. Really risky for the Giants to let one of these QBs go to take a Running Back when you look at Kareem Hunt, 3rd round pick last year....

Bills and Patriots interesting with their positions and picks.

As a Cardinals fan, Calvin Ridley or Christian Kirk would be very handy additions for Bradford, alongside a healthy David Johnson.

Even if the NYG stick with Eli, are they going to pass up the opportunity to sign a replacement they can bring through over time. I don't know what the crop for next season is like at QB however i suspect for most teams that will be the deciding factor.

davematt 26-04-2018 03:52 PM

Mayfield is now favorite with the bookies to go No 1 :D

WTF.

I'm sorry, why are you guys setting your alarm? I'm in Japan and the draft will start at 9am for me. You aren't 3 hours behind me.

This draft has been kind of an afterthought here. Picking 32nd is new to us (and we'll probably trade out to pick up a 2nd or 3rd). And with the Sixers playing like champs, it's all about the NBA. Even the Flyers making it to the play-offs has put this on the back burner. Saquon is a local lad: played for Whitehall HS. And we have a ton of Penn State fans here so where he ends up is interesting. Hope it ain't the Giants!

I know this sounds crazy...but I think the Browns panicked. Obviously, they see something in Mayfield I don't. He's either gonna be Russell Wilson or Manziel.(That's a little harsh) Now I'm thinking they should have drafted Barkley and then see which QBs dropped to 4.

davematt 27-04-2018 09:14 AM

Whilst not the most sexy of first round picks, the Niners getting Mike McGlinchey makes a lot of sense. We have just paid Jimmy G an INSANE amount of money. We need to protect the lad and keep him standing upright in the pocket. McGlinchey is a BEAST. 6'8 and when he locks his hands on ya, its game over.

I do fear the Browns will look back to this day and once again live to regret it.

Jets on the flip side cannot believe their luck. Darnold has some issues, mainly over his ball security but you'd like to think these can be improved with coaching.

Would have loved to have seen them take Barkely then pair him with a new QB. Not sure about the 4 pick at all!

When you have been as bad as the browns players, surely you take the best players on the board, Barkley is one of them

aj4england 27-04-2018 09:26 AM

Should also add that I am chuffed as a Cardinals fan that Josh Rosen fell to us. Chip on his shoulder but Rosen wil get game time a 'suits the scheme' and it barely cost the Cardinals anything. Surprised to see Patriots pass on Lamar Jackson.

Interested to see who picks up Mason Rudolph and Christian Kirk today. Two players who i feel have slipped under the radar.

To be fair to the Browns, they had a big need at DB so Ward made sense (even ahead of Chubb).

They are also in a VERY strong position going into tonight. 3 picks including 2 of the first 3 of the night. If they stink things up next season they may as well close the franchise down.

IMO Jimmy G will be the best QB in the league over the next 2-3 seasons.

Odd to see Jags pick up another DT. Would have thought we'd be looking at offensive upgrades.

He was effectively a second round pick for us this year.

I still have no idea what the Patriots were thinking giving him up so cheaply.

Yup agreed. They obviously decided to stick with Brady for a few more seasons and that they couldn't keep both on the roster but they could have got a lot more for him. It seems like they genuinely just wanted to reward his service with the best move for him (unless there is some odd behind the scenes deal for him to go back to the Pats at some).

I also have no idea why the Pats chose to draft Sony Michael over Lamar Jackson.

Michel is a perfect fit for the Pats as is Isaiah Wynn. I think the Patriots will come out among the winners from this first round. Will be interesting to see if they pick Mason Rudolph in the second round.

I have no idea what the Browns were thinking. The chances that Barkley is the best player in this draft is higher than Mayfield being the best QB in this draft or Ward being the best CB in this draft. I would have tried to trade with the Jets, since the Jets were taking Darnold anyway. Although the Jets might not have had anything to trade.

Why do you say that? (genuine question as I've seen very little college football)

The Browns could take Mason Rudolph purely for trade capital.

Funny enough, I was thinking that earlier.

But, there are still some pretty solid players left on the board, and don't think its worth missing out on some of them just to acquire more picks further down the line. Go get the future of your franchise some additional weapons.

4 QB’s in top 10 eh

Mayfield to bust; really dislike him

Imagine the prototype RB that the Patriots have run out there for the past however many years, Michel is the best version of all of them. He gets to the hole fast, he gets thru the hole fast and he's hard to tackle. He blocks, pass protects and catches the ball. If he doesn't have fumbling problems, he should be on the field a lot. Wynn reminds me of a shorter Nate Solder.

People are very quick to compare him with Manziel.

From all I've seen and read, he is much more polished QB and is a ready made starter.

He did an interview a month or so back with Rich Eisen on his show, and he comes across as a nice, genuine lad. He's just a confident kid and believes in his own ability.
