I've just read up to date on your blog Ben - good work.

I was going to do a week 2 preview this week but given that I won't be around to comment on it on Monday, I can't be bothered... so my next update will be AFTER week 3 now. :(

jazman 12-09-2008 12:29 PM

I'm looking forward to the games as a neutral this weekend seeing as the Cowboys take on Philly on Monday ....

LLCOOLSTEVE 12-09-2008 01:31 PM

Christ, the Jets are 1.5 points favs over the pats all because of brady being out :D

pauldrulez 12-09-2008 01:35 PM

I really dont get why they put the spreads like that. Its unlikely its going to be a tie or have one point in it.

But, the spread started at 3.5 to the Jets and so much money has gone on the Pats it has moved in two. The teams havent changed, so why should the spread change in all honesty?

That said 23-14 to the New England Patriots.

LLCOOLSTEVE 12-09-2008 01:40 PM

Id still take the pats -7 points! I think its a steal, shame I have no spare cash laying around!

It means a lot of money has gone on the Pats. The spread moving is Vegas's way to trying to keep the books even.

Apparently the Cowboys-Eagles line opened at Cowboys -9 for twenty minutes, then quickly moved to Cowboys -7. Same deal, i.e. not many people think the Eagles will go to Texas and lose by 10.

The half points are basically to avoid pushes, i.e. if the Cowboys are 7 point favourites and win 24-17 it is a push and stakes are returned.

I'm going. I have a poor record of anything good happening when I go to US sporting events. Seriously. Want me to list them?

Saints @ Browns - Frye throws an 80 yard TD pass with the first play of the game. Called back for holding. No TDs until the 4th Q after that. Dull.

Vikings @ 49ers - No TDs all game

Colts @ Ravens - The Colts hammered the Ravens in the first Q. It rained. Most of the crowd left by half-time. I left early and missed Troy Smith throw his first NFL TD. I saw it on the TV back in my hotel room.

Pistons @ Lakers - Kobe who? Scored 2 points in first 3 periods.

Athletics @ Yankees - 3 runs in first innings, I believe. Final score 2-1 Yankees. 8 innings with barely a hit.

Rays @ A's - First seven innings, 1 run. Missus got bored so we left. 8th inning, Rays score three off two errors, A's get one back in ninth. We were on the train back to the city.

Nationals @ Blackhawks - Not a big fan of hockey but the Nationals were rated as a pretty good team. The Blackhawks hammered them in a very one-sided contest.

Spurs @ Bulls - all the big names on the Spurs team, a decent enough Bulls team at home. Another blowout. At least Deng played.

So there. Don't think I've seen a top quality, close match yet in any sport.

I vaguely remember you mentioning this. That was Washington wasn't it, so it was the Capitals, not Nationals?

Probably the best game I ever saw was a Braves-Rockies game where the Braves came from 4-0 and 5-1 down to win 6-5. And not that it was high quality, but a Dolphins-Oilers game in 1991 where Sammie Smith fumbled as he was jumping over the pile for what would have been a go-ahead touchdown in the closing minutes. :veryangry

Sorry, yep it was the Capitals... shows how much I care about hockey ;)

That's quality ... Romessica - what are they thinking? :D

The Rams one is funny ...

By the way, I got Mrs JM to chose her team this evening seeing as the kids were on about their Bears and Phins. She has gone for the Eagles!!! Her choice, but interesting we play each other on Monday night ... :)

Well done Mrs JM  :lux: Does she support Kent CC as well :p

You want an Injury List, this is an injury list

1/4 of the Broncos players are on the Injury List, and I thought Belichick took the piss out of it.

Injury report: Chargers

Out
LB Shawne Merriman (knee) injured reserve
T Marcus McNeill (neck)
C Nick Hardwick (foot)

Questionable
CB Antonio Cromartie (hip)
RB LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) :D

Probable
TE Antonio Gates
DT Jamal Williams

Injury report: Broncos

Out
RB Ryan Torain (elbow)
C Tom Nalen (knee)

Doubtful
LB Louis Green (hamstring)

Probable
LB Boss Bailey (ankle)
QB Jay Cutler (knee)
DE Elvis Dumervil (finger)
DE Ebenezer Ekuban (back)
WR Darrell Jackson (ankle)
S Marquand Manuel (thumb)
QB Patrick Ramsey (knee)
DT Dewayne Robertson (knee)
WR Eddie Royal (ankle)
DT Marcus Thomas (ankle)

RDSdaEAGLE 12-09-2008 11:31 PM

Not a game for the 1st team-ers on either side, then? :D

pauldrulez 12-09-2008 11:32 PM

Actually, ignore that, I will blog on this and my funny picture thing in the morning.

As I have discovered that the Ravens have 17 on the Injury List. Most of these are probable, and I really dont think that the other teams take these seriously due to the fact that you can (basically) lie on them (no slander or libel or anything there is there) :D

pauldrulez 12-09-2008 11:59 PM

I had all the thoughts in my head for the IR blog, so I have done it. Some facts may be right, some may be wrong, but I am tired and that is my excuse for being stupid.... for now anyway.

saxoneagle 13-09-2008 01:09 AM

Great news (for me, anyway!): the wife is allowing me to go to the Titans and Bears match in Chicago :lux:

I mentioned Titans and Vince Young and she agreed and even wanted to come with. She might change her mind about football in Chicago in November... :D

I then dropped in the fact that the Bulls were playing too and on the Saturday night they are playing the Cavs with LeBron... she ASKED if we could go to that, too. SHE ASKED ME!

Sometimes, just sometimes, I love my wife :D :lux:

:moo:

saxoneagle 13-09-2008 01:10 AM

PS - I'll be back online Thursday with reports from the Mets game tomorrow and the Pats game on Sunday. :lux:

Greetings everyone from Baltimore!

Off to see the Orioles tonight then the big one on Sunday - Skins v Saints.

Can't wait

Telly over here is going crazy about Vince Young. He was apparently talking suicide to his shrink and had a gun in his car, but it was unloaded

Hope the fella is ok

Will report back after I see those SKins!
