That might have been the dumbest thing I've seen in professional sports.

Take a box, Vontaze Burfict.

hughff 10-01-2016 04:52 AM

Then Jones.

How to give your worst rival the win...

kayjay 10-01-2016 05:03 AM

Insanity!
Can't believe it.
To fight so hard to get back into the game and hand it back at the death like that......
Insanity!
Now the press conference.

Ridiculous end to the game. Was a selfish play by Burfict. However, some of the calls by the refs were dubious. That helmet shot by Shazier on Bernard should have been a penalty and then what was their coach doing in the Bengals huddle at the end.

Agree that some calls were dubious - such is the nature of an out-of-control game like that - but I thought they got Shazier on Bernard correct.

Bernard is established as a runner by the time Shazier hits him – hence it being a fumble rather than an incomplete pass – making it a fair, but tough, tackle.

In contrast as the law is written Brown was a defenceless receiver when hit by Burfict, making that a personal foul. (Though the mind boggles as to how Joey Porter wasn't flagged for baiting opposition players in the middle of the field afterwards.)

Bungles Bungled it because of Burfict's and Jones' indiscipline, enabled by Marv Lewis' 'proper nawty' clubhouse culture.

It's the fact that Shazier launched with the crown of his helmet that made it illegal.

Anyway, it's done now so time to move on. Sounds like we will be losing both co-ordinators, defensive backs coach and the linebackers coach.

Agree with it all, though I do believe that they need to look at a law if a player is knocked out they really shouldn't lose the ball. Though I'm sure in that case, that every time a player fumbles, they'd be fainting!!

The emotion lost them the game, Hill was still running like an idiot when he fumbled the ball. Get 2 hands on it and go down on contact, you're in FG range FFS.

I set my sky+ to record it, added 10 mins to the recording and it still switched off the recording as Hill fumbled! Sky are awful, it can't be that hard to extend a programme knowing that the game will likely be over 3 hours long

ARTICLE 8. INITIATING CONTACT WITH THE CROWN OF THE HELMET. It is a foul if a runner or tackler initiates forcible contact by delivering a blow with the top/crown of his helmet against an opponent when both players are clearly outside the tackle box (an area extending from tackle to tackle and from three yards beyond the line of scrimmage to the offensive team’s end line). Incidental contact by the helmet of a runner or tackler against an opponent shall not be a foul.
You actually see this called more against offensive players than defensive players.

Don't think he leads with the crown - his left arm is out as if aiming (very hard) with his shoulder:

He also ducked his head into the tackle which didn't help, though it was more of an instinct I'd assume.

He didn't launch himself, so for me, it's not a penalty, otherwise you're just saying to players that you've got to hit a 40x40cm zone between thigh and ribs. And people are going to then complain when they get hit in the family jewels!

dannyboy1807 10-01-2016 08:10 PM

9-0 in this weather is huge.

We will struggle to win this now.

pauldrulez 10-01-2016 08:49 PM

Waynes injury has killed the Vikings.

oz_da II 10-01-2016 08:53 PM

Sendejo can't be dropping that interception in a game like this.

CT_Palace 10-01-2016 08:55 PM

Come on you Vikings!!!
One kick away...

pauldrulez 10-01-2016 08:56 PM
