I don't know if you have this sort of thing in The UK, but I have satellite radio in my car, and you can get different stations that are dedicated to playing just the 50's, 60's, 70's etc., etc..

I find myself listening a lot to the 60's and 70's stations, but what is really annoying is they wheel out these DJ's from that era to interject their wit and wisdom periodically between songs.

Now the fact that a guy who was 30 in the 60's or 70's would now be in his (or her) 70's or even 80's makes them terrible at what they do, if in fact they were ever any good. All the little anecdotes and very bad attempts at humor are cringe-worthy. Totally ruin the listening pleasure.

I suspect it would be like listen to Tony Blackburn or David Hamilton still in The UK.

Archiebald Leitch 08-05-2019 07:47 PM

We have Magic radio which does much the same thing, albeit a bit more recent. We had Kids From America Kim Wilde and Never Gonna Give You Up Rick Astley as presenters who must have had written into their contracts that their songs are played at least once an hour, regardless of whether it was their show or not, fecking torture. Now we have Ronan Keating in the mornings so it’s wall to wall Westlife.

Jog on mate.

This is a thread sharing thousands of slightly annoying things that happen in life....the key word being ‘annoying’, no one is saying these things are earth shattering or devastating.

My post was agreeing with another person that it’s annoying that McDonald’s is advertising how great their new straw is, when in our experience it’s actually not.

And no, we didn’t grab two straws initially, as we’ve never needed to be wasteful before. Which is ironic because McDs were meant to be helping the environment with their wonderful new straw.

Even so, two paper straws are more environment friendly than one plastic, and the walk back for the second straw helps to keep you fit

The ‘annoying’ part was McDonalds boosting about their fabulous new straw, when it’s not.

It’s the false representation and unwarranted self congratulation by them in their publicity that’s the problem.

T.V ads in general.
What happened to the ad makers? I can remember in the 70's/80's looking forward to some ads as they were genuinely funny.
The worst culprit must be Nationwide - the 2 girls singing unfunny ditties, the old girls forcing themselves to laugh but worst of all, the girl in the photo booth with her gay mate.
'So I can share sunrises with you'.
Embarrassing.

I was thinking the same thing recently. It's all been nailed down by focus group analysis and algorithms. I am absolutely certain now that they build in annoyance, because it causes the watcher to remember it and is a lot cheaper than being creative.

Blooming updates from the Captain an hour into a two hour flight. Completely unneccesary. I'm trying to bloody sleep!

Are you one of those ***** who recline the seat on already knee-crunching short-haul flights?

No such luxuries on Ryanair.

Dead right about the adds, but the best bank to deal with and use that i ever had, and i have had a few.

No, and I am not recommending that you try, but of course one could always wait for a lull in the boarding, or of course until some selfish stowing git with a seat closer to the entrance gets on

Where exactly do you wait for a lull in boarding if you haven't stowed your bag, or do you mean just take your seat and leave your bag in the isle?

the 95 % of all drivers who turn into a road by cutting across the wrong side of the road they are turning into even when cars are coming that way

Worse than that, wankers who sit next to the window and put their bag on the seat next to them.
I always get them to move their bag so I can sit there regardless of any other empty seats.
C*nts.

Just drink like the rest of us.

Yep airport and plane heroes who have to sleep across the seats like they are Tom hanks and have been there for months.

I'm at an airport I'm so sleep deprived. Wank+rs

Cockney Mockney chav wankers who sell moody perfume etc outside empty shop fronts to gormless members of the public.

The empty seats behind the dug outs in an FA Cup final at Wembley. True fans would kill for those seats and they make it look as though no one cares. Are they the “sponsors” seats ? If they are can we get some decent ones that will turn up
