Blimey. Is that a standard across all EA or are there Purple Bricks equivalents etc?

Worth doing a deal for a private sale then or is it too much hassle ?

I'm surprised that you haven't seen through such an obvious ploy - you're being seduced! The entire pea fingering manoeuvre is simply an excuse to lick those fingers in an erotically suggestive manner. This is why northerners eat mushy peas with their hands (it does it for me every time).

5% is standard in Portugal as well, although some chancers try 7%.

When I sold my place out there it was 5% plus 21% IVA (VAT)

Chuffin hell.

Looks like the average UK is 1.2% plus VAT. Big difference on a £250k plus sale

The point is, you pay 5% because they've done all the showing round advertising etx. Some chancer walking in and expecting a 5% discount is taking the piss really, told them.to make us an offer.

Having arthritis in my thumb joints... I can hardly hold a pen or pencil these days.

Always prided myself on my neat writing, now it looks like a 5 year old did it. Also was working on a woodworking project Monday, thumbs have been killing me ever since.

Sucks getting old.

PeterH 03-03-2021 06:57 PM

I was irked yesterday with the various life things I put on a couple of threads.

Calm, retrospective and forward looking now.

Mostly, just trying to extricate myself from Santiago and have nothing left here.
Family of course, but the onus is on them to visit us should they wish.

Bank dragging it's feet, trying to do our best for the three kids and their kids, and push them out into the swimming pool of life without just throwing them in.
The usual thing most parents do to 25 year olds. But we don't have that kids going away to another city university thing here. We had two 30+ year olds move back in. :sob::eek:

The hippie kid (black sheep or at least grey) has no forward planning and we have accepted that is for life. The daughter won't act on removing themselves from the flat paid for by her parents-in-law, and they have the cash. The oldest son is starting work in a college again.

That last one is extra crazy. He got his pay off in November, applied to all and sundry with no answers due to the uncertainty with the virus. There is still uncertainty, but BANG five colleges have offered him jobs in two days, as some are back presencial and others are online for a month.

He started at one school on Monday, and left that yesterday to start at another school today. That sounds dizzy, but he was offered a job at his son's school near to home so there are all kinds of advantages. Difficult to avoid burning bridges. Add in a phone call from the department of education where we live on the coast offering work and it is all crazy. He got two more emails from other schools today for urgent starts.

A week ago his inbox was full of tumbleweed.

I told him to put aside a couple of hours for yoga sessions to pinpoint his mind.

For me, best let it all wash out for a week or so, and see what decisions we can make from there.

Have you ever tried those thumb support/braces? No idea if they work BTW. Fortunate enough not to suffer from this (yet) but been around enough people to understand the discomfort it causes. Some people swear by the copper bracelets as well.

I haven't tried the thumb brace yet. My wife has one... I might try it.

The copper bracelet is option. I've seen a lot of people wearing them, but at this time I would say I'm a skeptic.

I've been taking Glucosamine supplements and rubbing in CBD cream on the joints (maybe I should just be smoking joints). Helps a little but not completely pain free.

The turmeric? I drink it, i'll post up the recipe.

½ cup turmeric powder
1 cup water
⅓ cup raw, unrefined, cold-pressed coconut oil
2-3 tsp cracked black pepper
Boil the turmeric and water before lowering the heat and simmering until it turns into a paste (this should take 7 to 10 minutes). Add the pepper and oil after it’s been removed from heat and cooled down, about 10 minutes later.

I take the others as tablets/capsules.

That's interesting. Taken cod liver oil in the past but had terrible indigestion from it. I've been sprinkling turmeric and cumin on my porridge for years without really knowing why. Guess I must have read it's good for you somewhere sometime. Can't have been for memory loss :)

It's a distantly related cousin to my long running series entitled 'This pan that's been in the oven at 400 degrees for three hours should be cool enough to touch without an oven glove by now'

TBF. they have only just started to come out with decent bread here, for the most part. I see our version of ASDA (walmart owned) stock lots of GREAT VALUE products that most come form England. They now have something called Kingsbury white sliced. Very much like decent toastable white bread.

Why are the binmen needed three times a day?

And you appear to have caught IOW's wrong thread disease.

I guess it is the local council's idea of keeping things clean regarding the virus threat. The thrice a day thingy started last March. Before that, it was once a day and some days were missed.

Ans WHOOOOSH.

.....New Addngton, Elmers End, Lower Addiscombe, Broad Green, Caterham on the Hill, White Horse Lane.

The first 5 were from 21 to 27 years old. The last 10 years.

:p

First trip up the A3 in about a year. What a shit mess, it looks like a third world country with all the fast food litter, plastic and general detritus strewn everywhere.

Hopefully all councils will adopt the litter cams being used in Maidstone/Ashford way (I think) and catch a few of the *****.

Spurs.

Football managers dressing like civvies. Embarrassing.

Just start with Playdoh that is already a generic brown sludge colour and you can't go far wrong.

You can make playdough very easily, by the way - flour, water, colouring, salt, etc. - there are 'cooked' and 'uncooked' recipes out there - just google for 'playdough recipe'.

People on the match day threads that say “I’m turning it off now or changing channels” - why do they think we need to know that? I don’t say “just going for a piss” or “be back in 2 mins, just putting the kettle on”.

A Wooden Fish On Wheels 08-03-2021 01:37 PM

Anyway - being subjected to day time TV the thing that annoys me today is, 'Steph's Packed Lunch'. What a pile of rancid dog wank it is. Please just stop it, and put on an old episode of Columbo or anything else similar which is infinitely more entertaining.

Is that because you take your phone with you and can type one handed?

Yeah the same applies to arseholes like the one that I worked with until recently, sat working at home on a Microsoft Teams group chat... "I'm going for a smoke", "I'm going for a clear-out" (ffs), "Just making a cuppa" - cuppa f***ing SHITE you wanker!

I'm guessing you are referring to me last night. I can only apologise for causing you such grief with my comment.

As I said at the time, we were getting deeper and deeper and after 30 mins I had enough as I was expecting another backs to the wall alamo scenario. Turns out I missed a slightly more positive performance so more fool me.

I do think mine was an equally valid comment on a match thread as 'Playing well atm !' but I guess those don't cause you such anguish

Linford Christie's Packed Lunch was far more popular, despite its late night time slot

Always a treat finding an over ripe banana of a lunch time.

I have no idea if it was you or not. It happens every game with various posters. I just don’t get why people need to announce they have had enough of watching the game in a type of disgust. It’s a match day discussion thread to discuss the match being played and what’s happening on the pitch. I’m just not quite sure what people are expecting to get back. “No, don’t go” or “please stay”. I’m just saying, it’s not really relevant.

I guess its a slightly more florid way of saying 'this is shit, I have better things to do' which to me is no more offensive or annoying as saying 'this is shit' or indeed 'this is great'

Anyway I learned my lesson last night as my flounce meant I missed Benteke's goal :-(

Needs a separate thread, and a complete removal from sexual innuendo, but everyone knows that bananas should be eaten as green as possible

No need to be ashamed. BBSers of a certain vintage may remember my constant updates re: Daisy the cat's bowel movements. If she hadn't shit by kick off, it wasn't even worth listening (in those days) to the game

Presumably what they mean is "**** this for a game of soldiers". I never tend to bugger off like that although 4 - 1 down last night did make me stop paying much attention.

There`s a trend starting with older films where the pre announcer say`s something like`content warning which may cause offence as the views since it was made have changed"I find everthing about the royals what are you going to do about that then w*****s
