I got Peterson at #5, after all :D

pauldrulez 07-07-2008 08:18 PM

If you register Straths then I can upload the teams which will take long enough in itself.

Then that will stop saxon exploding about free agents :D

pauldrulez 07-07-2008 08:19 PM

With all the trades on the website, shall I allow it to be voted on by everyone, accepted by the commissioner or just allow any trade?

saxoneagle 07-07-2008 08:43 PM

Allow any trade but have a trade deadline to stop sh*t teams giving away players near the end of the year.

Free agency is done by draft placing - if two people want the same free agent, the person with the worst draft pick gets first choice. The person "winning" that player then goes to the bottom of the pile for the next draft pick. Anyone wanting to make a free agency pick has to email the commissioner by a set time each week. At the end of that deadline, the commissioner then announces who got which player. Does that work?! (We used to have a similar system for our Football FL and it worked fine :D)

And I only want to look at the free agency as my 60th pick was wasted on Dwayne Bowe, who might be good but would be even better with a decent QB in KC. Same goes for Roddy White in Atlanta on pick 76!

pauldrulez 07-07-2008 09:36 PM

You can explain it again when I have uploaded all.

Dont blame me, I only just noticed that the next 3 pickers I have looked at have had Peterson ahead, but before that everyone has had Westbrook.

I think it depends on the league, that gives you the proper rankings.

How about a prize for the winning team?

What about the winner gets a shirt of their favourite NFL team, cost split between the other 8 players. Will only be £3 or £4 each I guess.

Great idea - I'm in for that!

Strathclyde Eagle 08-07-2008 12:56 PM

If someone can put up the link for registering I'll try and do it over lunch.

I have selected offline draft so it enables us to do it on here and then enter it into the draft in my spare time

Strathclyde Eagle 08-07-2008 03:10 PM

Cheers. I'm in now, sorry for keeping everyone waiting.

Strathclyde Eagle 08-07-2008 03:34 PM

Meant to say that over the weekend I had some time to kill, and little to do due to my broadband switchover (which the Mrs has said has now completed). So I decided to convert some old VHS onto DVD before my DVD/VHS combo packs in (it is getting temperamental, as if it is ready to go).

On the tape, among other NFL clips were:
  • The Patriots 1986 win at the Rams on a last-second Hail Mary (dreadful picture quality at some points).
  • The highlights of all the best rookie action from 1989 (Sanders - Deion and Barry, Eric Metcalf, Andre Rison, etc.).
  • The drive that won San Francisco Super Bowl XXIII (including brief glimpses of Mick Luckhurst - Channel 4 actually had a suite at the game, dread to think what it cost them).
  • The Bears beating the Giants on the opening Monday night of the 1987 season, including a one-handed sack by Richard Dent (still unbelievable, all these years later).
  • And all the touchdowns from a certain game in week 3 in 1986. Oh, and the fumbled kick-off in overtime. ;)

Got a few more tapes to dig through at some point too.

pauldrulez 08-07-2008 04:27 PM

After all that it wont let me enter offline draft results yet for some reason. ??? Any Ideas?

Strathclyde Eagle 08-07-2008 04:34 PM

Too early to enter players yet? Just a guess.

pauldrulez 08-07-2008 04:39 PM

Maybe, but it lets you do the draft through the website but not input your own :S, ah well I emailed to ask when we can, I will start a new thread on here with it later so that this one doesnt get overrun with the Draft so that others like Ben can talk about NFL.

saxoneagle 08-07-2008 05:22 PM

Good idea about the new thread, Paul.

Also, good work on the setup - someone will whinge about the draft but for a first year, it was the only way to do it!

Top skills :D

Chester 08-07-2008 05:27 PM

fecking shit draft :grrr:
