The Pro Bowl is a friendly.

Pre-season is more like the FA/League Cup games. The first teams don't play for long. The second/third/fourth string players are playing for their numbers, their career and their spots. Helmet to Helmet (oo-er) contact is there, there are penalties. If you don't play hard, you get knocked down. That's the way it is.

Good post.

Seems like time to buy my StreamTVNow subscription for the year!

Fair comment. I'm speaking from not seeing an NFL friendly before to be honest with you, I was simply talking about friendlies I have been to in the country before so I'll take your word for it. But I completely understand where your coming from, the attraction must be to see the stars playing but if the realy competitiveness if when the 22nd and 3rd string come on then could be inetersting ... :

What's the thing they say about if you play not to get hurt then you'll get hurt? I think you have to play at full speed. No other way to do it.

Thinking back to teams suffering injuries in pre-season, what about the big one that happened to Trent Green in 1999? The Rams weren't the same under Kurt Warner that year. ;)

That's not really difficult to make an insult out of.

That's why it's saxon's job :)

Good to meet Ben at last yesterday, shame it was in the Holmesdale bogs really but at least he washed his hands! He claimed to have not "splashed" but he wasn't fooling me!

Top banana!

pauldrulez 09-08-2009 10:01 AM

Oh, Oh, Oh.

You just reminded me.

I saw someone walking down the steps in a Brady shirt near me about 5 mins before kick-off. Was going to shout Go Pats, but was a bit pissed at the time. Which would have meant I would have been rambling on like I do on here most of the time.

HoF game on tonight. Does anyone want me to find links for them to watch it?

pauldrulez 09-08-2009 02:55 PM

Don't read what I am going to put below as it wont have streams of the Hall of Fame game tonight on there.

Don't read this... not about pre-season games..........

;)

pauldrulez 09-08-2009 03:39 PM

Found a lovely stream on Justin.tv

No sound for now, but watching Chargers-Broncos game that ended last years Reg.Season.

Good stuff.

Swanny32 09-08-2009 10:33 PM

So Westbrook slowly winding up the work rate after his surgery, Bradley our leader on D gets injured with a torn ACL and is out for the entire season and now our new TE Cornelius Ingram get's the same injury he suffered playing for Florida, a torn ACL!!!!

BALLS!

pauldrulez 09-08-2009 10:51 PM

Poor old Corny, he was a player I liked leading up to the draft. Surprised how far he slipped.

In opposite to you:

Ty Warren, Richard Seymour and Shawn Crable all came off PUP today and are at practice.

Greg Lewis is competing with Joey Galloway for 3rd WR and winning at this point.

And to top it all off. Derrick Burgess has arrived at his first practice today.

Excellent stuff.

Onto tonights game:

Chris Johnson tweeted that he and LenWhale Diet managed to miss the bus to the stadium. Blamed himself.

What a douche

pauldrulez 10-08-2009 01:02 AM

OMG, football is back and I have the greatest stream ever and been having some great chat with people on justin.tv for past few hours. Great stuff.

Oh football, how I missed thee.

Im not sure if its been posted before but I was looking for scheduling information for games on tv in the UK for next season and at the moment there is no contract in place yet for sky to show any NFL this year. ESPN are almost certain to take some of the games and as yet sky cant agree a deal to show any games. I always thought the sky contract run for a few more years?

pauldrulez 10-08-2009 10:37 AM

Sky contract finished last year.

There will be another contract this year (apparently)

But they have missed out on pre-season.

They were working on NFL Network but you aren't allowed to advertise during the poxy game. i.e KFC and Subway sponsors.

Swanny32 10-08-2009 12:11 PM

I heard it was all agreed and the first game was Steelers v Titans, maybe I misheard or this was regarding a different station

pauldrulez 10-08-2009 02:07 PM

I make you right.

First TD of the season last night.

Awesome play.

Vince Young stunk it up.

Kerry Collins was pretty good.

Alge Crumpler now has massive tits to rival Andre Smith.

Chris Johnson struggled as the OL was average. LenDale White looks much better without the weight but was still strong.

Onto the Bills. Edwards and Fitzpatrick didn't look that bad. Both done well with the no huddle. TO caught some nice balls. Running game looked ok, defense looked average.

Swanny32 10-08-2009 02:15 PM

It's a shame the pre season games aren't on Sky, I'm really missing NFL at the moment, such a shame that the season is so short as once it's started in the blink of an eye it'll be over. Before we know it we'll be drafting in the Fantasy Football again.
