Looks like another NFC Central slam-dunk for the Packers.

How is Dilfer allowed to commentate?

"You cannot lose games in the NFL and still win"

I seem to remember him stating that Mariota is not pro ready, so that's also started roaringly well.

I don't think he will be for much longer.

There's been universal condemnation of his performance tonight.

jazman 15-09-2015 10:00 AM

Real shame Dez Bryant is facing a bit of a layoff now, however, that being said this is a very hard working team that did not do much pre-season training with Bryant. He will be missed but I believe we can get by without him for a short time as this team does not have to rely on him solely. Yes, it is great to have the option but this is a tough roster that we have got this season. As long as we stop trying to beat ourselves that is .... and that comment has nothing to do with Romo who was impressive on Sunday.

Swanny32 15-09-2015 02:35 PM

Continuing on from last season by the looks of things for us, clueless in the first half and having to climb mountains in the second half. We seemed to do that a lot last season and last night was no different, Bradford & Co just didn't have a clue in the first half last night, "rabbit caught in the headlights" comes to mind. Bit gutted not to get the win in the end and personally I thought the call to kick a FG on 4th & 1 with 3 minutes left to play was a gutless and stupid call, we should have gone for it, and I was proved right when Parkey shoved it right.

Jury will be out on this bunch of players and Chip, for at least another 3-4 weeks but if they perform like they did in the first half last night, at the Linc, they'll be boo'd and jeered off the pitch, make no mistake about that.

CT_Palace 15-09-2015 03:10 PM

Much better than expected showing by the 9ers :lux:
New D looked pretty good and Kap seems to have been working hard in the off season. He looked almost a proper QB at times last night.

Vince Hilaire's Afro 15-09-2015 09:57 PM

Has Kaepernick been deserving of the criticism he's received in the last year or so, or has it been the usual story of the QB taking heat for the failings of other aspects of the team's play?

Yea Eagles sucked, most of it was down to no pass rush and going up against Julio Jones though.

Still a waste of money.

Swanny32 16-09-2015 11:00 AM

Maxwell was shocking. Just goes to show that some people are able to ride the coat tails of a team and make themselves look good when in actual fact, they're toilet. That Seahawks D won't miss him at all.

Personally think Chancellor is another player that could leave that Seattle system and look below average...

So far, only Browner has looked anywhere near reasonable out of Seattle, though you have to give more of a chance to Maxwell.

Bit of both I reckon.
Last season was definitely his worst to date. However that was because the coaches tried to clip his wings too much and built the offense around him standing in the pocket and throwing the ball. Which was very dumb. He's not that type of QB and even if you want him to be that type of QB you should get him there gradually, not in one off season.

Monday night he looked much more accomplished. His body position and feet placement in the pocket was much much better and he went through his progressions to find the open man when he did throw. Still some way to go to truly reach his potential. But the signs are encouraging.

There is a similar witch hunt at times against Cam Newton, but the majority of people realise that he's a special talent and appreciate what he can do to win games, rather than his deficiencies.

With only 2 (one injured, 1 injured sometimes) weapons across his 4 seasons. Benjamin and Olsen.

Cam is underrated.

A pile of WR's worked out at Dallas over the last couple of days so I would expect one to to be signed up in time for Sunday.

Underrated by some, overrated by others, and appreciated for what he is by most. That some people have a go at him in the Carolina's is astonishing, given that he's the best QB we've ever had by some way. There's areas to be improved but we're lucky to have him

Definetly my opinion, Kam is great for a big hit but the system makes him look much better than he is.

As for Maxwell at the Eagles I think he will be fine, he's playing in a very different system now. Just needs time.

He's alright.

Helped by an inept effort in this 4th quarter.

Pissing around trying to get Brady his 400th TD. This game would be over if they ran out the clock.

Worrying that we have dominated the clock but are only leading 6-0.
Think Brice Butler could help us out big time if Dez is actually out 10+ weeks.

That won't happen, but he does need to Trent Dilfer his way to hopefully, at the most optimal, a .500 record by the time the 2 most important players return. Yeah, that was probably the most sloppy, awful NFL game ever played in the modern era.

A win over Filly but at a cost. What luck is that losing your star WR in Week1 followed by QB in Week2? Great win though regardless. Nice to see DM got plenty of stick throughout the game. One thing I would say, and I'm not surprised seeing where were playing, that the cheering of an injured player really grates me but leaving with a 2&0 record in a game that Dallas ran pretty much throughout is very pleasing. Not sure what to think of the next few weeks though. This is a battling team but you take away a couple of star players then it will cause an effect.

Bortles showed some nice poise, but they're still pretty terrible. Classic example of the old 'Any Given Sunday' adage where both our coaches and players (the D in particular) thought they could sleepwalk to victory, and deservedly lost as a result.

You'd NEVER see that lack of preparation and execution from a Bill Belichick team, which is one of the great many reasons we've been playing catch-up in the AFC East for the last decade-and-a-half.

For me, last night was the beginning of the end for Philbin.

Fair point, but not many other better options out there, especially for what I think was a 5th round conditional pick.
D is looking OK but with no Mincey or Gregory today, need to keep our head in the race cause Sean Lee can not do it all himself.
Looking forward to having Hardy and Ro Mac back in week 5.

Let me know when you find a good team in the league this year will you?

That's not to say that it's not entertaining watching all these bad ones.

Not a bad week for me really: the Pats blew out the Jags (shock), I won all 3 fantasy leagues (assuming Rodgers doesn't do anything ridiculously crazy in one of them), and I won 100 quid on my first ever attempt at an NFL accumulator (I'd never won a football one).

The Seahawks are fine. I didn't see them this week when they beat an awful Chicago team. I also don't hold their loss against St. Louis against them because in your division things are always different.

The Buccs are as expected (among the worst) and the Eagles have got rid of all their playmakers. I like Bradford though.

My point is really that there aren't any good teams throughout the league this year. That gets said every year by some people but it's the first time I've thought it. So far i'd only call the Pats, Bengals, Broncos, Seahawks, Packers and Cardinals playoff quality teams. I suspect that the 3 AFC teams I just named are all pretty flawed as well (as are, to a lesser extent, the other 3).

It's still early and teams change so drastically in this sport during the season so a few teams will probably emerge, but I can't remember in my 6 seasons of watching NFL a more dismal looking league.

My bet won too for 3rd week in row. Amazed.

Bills/phins over 41 (line moved to over 43 on game day)
Pats -13.5
Steelers -2.5 (adjusted this line to get better odds)
