When the Weeds player got sent off I'm 90% sure I saw the player give the ref the middle finger. If so should be a longer ban. It's not ok.

I'm 53, played all my life, still do occassionally and have given refs grief, bitched, sworn, sang 'the ref is a wanker' etc but pffff it's a tough gig, we need them and they deserve at least a bit of respect.

I ref'ed one game once, I think every player should be made to do it, ******* nightmare, on the pitch you're wrong approximately half of the time as far as everyone around you is concerned.

It was diagnosed by my GP as Meralgia Paresthetica which is caused by a sensory nerve being damaged by inflammation of my left hip. Perhaps you might have a similar condition?

I appreciate the response which is very interesting. I/we have been assuming it is some sort of pressure/damage of a nerve somewhere or other. I am currently getting a different but worsening pain just above my left hip that has only really come on since I last saw the doc. It's a disabling pain that is short and sharp in nature but not aching all the time. probably all connected. If I could get anything out of the doctor/MRI review team I might find out. The doc is great to deal with but the practice as a whole isn't.

Bit surprised re the MRI results taking so long as that type of thing has been good in our area up until this time.

Thanks for the info.

25 year old Trent Alexander (whatever he calls himself) telling us all how he thrives in the inverted hybrid position. Then says, "or whatever they call it these days." Whatever they call it? How about right half or if you want to be all sentimental, you're a glorified full back who occasionally, when caught out of position ends up on his arse in the wing half position. It's as bad as the 25 year old, sitting in the pub, who takes a minute away from his face book account, and starts a story about something that happened in 2018 with the words, "Back in the day,"
Football was so much simpler. Your goalie wore green, not colors that could make him an icon. Your full backs were cumbersome, out of shape useless barstools. Center half's were tall and craggy and your midfielders were canny and scheming. Not bloody inverted. Wingers were wiry little Scotch bastards and number 9 wasn't false, but a big brute of an Englishman, who could head the ball to Timbuctoo but into todays game probably wouldn't get into his local pub side. Excuse the rant but that inverted hybrid bollocks really hit the wrong nerve on a day when Bobby Charlton was laid to rest.

Hi Martin, your symptoms sound like peripheral neuropathy. It’s often, but not always, associated with diabetes. One of my brothers has it but he isn’t diabetic. An MRI won’t disclose this unfortunately, you’d need to see a neurologist for a diagnosis. Anyway, I hope you get clarity/ treatment soon.

Hmmm that's a new one for me then. I don't have diabetes albeit I suspect it's in my future. Its a long list of symptoms and some of them fit.

Hopefully the results will come back soon and we can move it forward.

Different topic - low life thieves.

Locally we have a whatsapp group for our short street and the cul de sac at the end and sort of look out for each other. One of the houses at the end of the cul de sac had a nasty experience. Teenage son was in the house alone and a car pulled onto the drive and a second guy (both) in a COVID mask knocked on the door. Wisely, as it turned out, he didn't answer the door. Instead he sneakily took a picture on his camera and a short video. The guys kept banging on the door and then went around the back and using a cro-bar broke in via the conservatory. The video showed them then taking something out of a case and passing it to the other. They thought it was a long weapon but didn't elaborate. Once in they were shouting out for him to come out because they knew he was in there.

The lad climbed out on an ensuite window, jumped down and ran to a neighbours house. They stole a safe etc and scarpered. Scary stuff and TBH I suspect most teenagers would simply open the door in this day of deliveries but thankfully he didn't. Police said that they were eastern Europeans and had targeted the family for their (indian) family gold which they must have been aware of beforehand.

Young lad is a bit shaken up and I suspect that to get worse when he realises how vulnerable he was. TBH it's shaken most of us up. It's the thought of how easy this is for them and how bad that might have been if he hadn't been so smart. Street is helping as we can and it's energised some to add cameras and so on. In truth they seemed to have accepted cameras but work on wearing the masks and getting in and out quickly. Police were on seen within minutes of the 999 call. We got footage from our CCTV of the car and the guys on foot but as the camera is focused on our property (to remain legal) it's never clear enough to help significantly. They captured the number plate from a dashboard cam but no use so far. Locals want to ask council to put in camera as deterrent but can't see they would or that it would help as much as each house putting in something. I favour automated machine guns and 'rotating knives' (copyright John Cleese).

Chinese families (restaurant owners and big casino folk) have also been robbed in similar fashion - again targeted for their cash sages in what is otherwise a fairly safe area.

I don't think they realise or care about the damage they cause.

You can't be at MP and be a member of the House of Lords - and yes, Benn did that.

But there are also Ministers in the House of Lords. Each Department has a Minister who sits in the Lords (or at least a Lord to represent them in that House). It can be the Secretary of State (Cabinet Minister) although normally it isn't. The most recent was (I think) Baroness Morgan when she was Culture Secretary. The previous Labour government had both Adonis and Mandelsson as Cabinet Ministers in the Lords.

It is very very now for one of the four big roles (PM, Chancellor, Foreign Sec or Home Sec) to be in the Lords: the last was Carrington who was Foreign Sec in the first few years of Thatcher.

(All of this is subject to fact checking.)

The Tories don't do "foreign" unless it is to distance the UK from international norms or pack 'em on planes to Rwanda. He can happily fester in the Lords and be of no need or bother to this Govt.

BT. Just spent two hours “talking” to an agent online trying to find out why our landline didn’t work. Turns out it was because we’d been switched over to Digital Voice without any warning. Had we known, it would have taken a few minutes maximum to change it over.

https://www.ledsmagazine.com/archite...scent-lighting

It may have been nice to have had some publicity about this, I can't remember seeing anything at all.

Of course with wonderful timing the tube in the kitchen went at 3pm and we didn't have a spare (last time it went at 3pm on Xmas Eve!).

First trip to Screwfix I subsequently find that the replacement LED versions don't work on our light as it has an inbuilt starter that isn't compatible. Older lights I believe have a plug in replaceable starter so are OK.

2nd trip to Screwfix as I need a new LED compatible fitting, only to then find the strip I'd been recommended & sold doesn't have the wiring access in the centre but is a sealed unit that wires at the end, no good. So I have just finished cooking by desk lamp light! [emoji2959]

I wonder if there are elderly people falling foul of this.

[emoji1696]My dear old dad has a couple of spare tubes in his attic so I may have something to tide me over whilst I find a suitable new light.

I would say until the last 12-15 mths it had been improving at the hospital end of things. Things had deteriorated a little but then fell off a cliff with the docs strike and it now seems in a death spiral - poor choice of words.

The local medical centre has continued a steady decline from when we first moved here and it's a bit of a farce now. There is the odd individual still trying against all odds to make things work but swimming uphill.

Unfortunately we have need of their services tomorrow and so I hope they are having a good day :(.

Good luck to you too.

Unfortunately both of us have running issues currently. My better half had what she described as 'a bit of a do' in the shop yesterday. Couldn't see properly and thought her glasses must be smudged or something but realised that it was her vision. The store looked after her really well while I struggled to get a taxi to pick her up and drive her back home. So straight to Docs this morning who requested 'bloods' and an 'ECG'. First appointment is almost a month away! Are they banking on people dying before they get into the system now? Bear in mind that you could probably train a 10 year old to take bloods and do an ECG (not interpret them) I am amazed at how they can't better that sort of turnaround.

Also I have finally got my MRI results back after 4-5 weeks and seem to have bulging discs all over the place which seem to indicate symptoms are likely to get worse if not treated. The first appointment available to follow up is 4 weeks away but would have been 6 weeks if I hadn't pre-empted it a couple of weeks back. Dread to think how long the next step will be. Oh joy.

O2 and DHL.

Have totally messed me about for 10 days now, somehow engineering between them in comic fashion, to fail miserably to deliver a new mobile to my house, replacing my damaged old one. Have paid nearly £200 and spent hours and hours on the phone for the privilege.

Last straw last night when I called yet again and was passed about one call assistant to the next, having to repeat the tale of farce, till I got to one that listened to me and just put the phone down on me, no doubt not wanting to bother to deal with the issue.

I then in a fit of rage called BT to switch to them and ditch O2. On phone for an hour setting it all up. Last bit was a credit check and didn’t pass so couldn’t finalise. I have no credit issues at all. Give up.

I dunno why the Guardian thinks this is "news" as it's been going on for a billion years or so. Most intestate monies go to HMG but it's different in the Duchies of Cornwall and Lancaster. This is obviously daft, but it's not as if Brian spunks the money on coke and hos.

No it goes to the government

The royal family is self funding it gave up the profits of the crown estates for a loan and the civil list we have today, which means we are quids in as the revenue from the estates are larger than what was classed the civil list. Get rid of them and you pay more, as they will simply take the profits from the crown estates instead. And that’s nothing to do with the soft power they bring.

During the second half today I went to the switching on of the Christmas lights in my local high street and once I heard we had gone 2-1 down I was in a bad mood and didn't really enjoy being there as much as I would have wanted.

During the second half today I went to the switching on of the Christmas lights in my local high street and once I heard we had gone 2-1 down I was in a bad mood and didn't really enjoy being there as much as I would have wanted.

It used to be that if I was not at the game and we lost I would move on quickly but recently I have not been able to.

It gets worse the older you get

Musks space mob had a rocket blow up the other day. I think the spokeswoman called it an airborne dismantlement.

Most craft beers only available in 16oz cans (instead of 12 Oz ) these days. Some of us have to pace ourselves ..l

So there is such a thing as too much of a good thing?

With beer though? Surely not!

Ordered porridge hash brown and coffee from McDonald’s
It said collection point 1, 1 saw my order being prepared and it said ready to collect so I went up and the man said glitch in system I said it is convenient, your figures will say you turned it round on time, he gave me a look
Waited for a while no sign of any porridge
Went up and asked again, this time it was a lady she said give me couple of seconds, I said ok, went up again she said give me two minutes and I will let you know how long it will take. By this time it has been over half an hour
I said can you cancel it please I will pop to marks, she said one minute, spoke to a lady next to her who I think was a manager, who said I can’t do refunds now as I am busy, bearing in mind I am standing right there and can hear her.
I said just cancel the order and don’t worry about the money I can’t be asked to wait anymore

I went to marks and sat in another queue
Moral of the annoyance have breakfast at home

I'd suggest that Olise isn't that considering how woeful our corners were. Technician in saying **** it and scoring worldies when the rest of the team can't do **** all more like.

I'm guessing that 'woke vehicle' was not intentional.

I couldn't be arsed to watch yesterday's one, but was reminded of the really shit and creepy RTD episode where rubbish Marc Warren's girlfriend*'s face was turned into a paving slab but could still suck him off. This did happen and Peter Kay was also involved.

Gregg Wallace manages to combine that and a simultaneous gurn at least once per episode of Masterchef. His “wow” threshold is very low.
