The interview James Harrison has done with Men's Journal suggests a future career in mediation and facilitating peace talks in the Middle East. :D

First-round picks now will sign 4-yr deals, with options for a 5th-, that will decrease their money 40-50% from last yr. Vets get $ instead.

NFL R&R is back. And Steven has quit his job and they appear to be doing this full time now. That could make things more interesting as I like their style ...

And a heads up to those of you that may be interested that Rich Eisen has Michelle Beadle on his latest podcast. The even better news is that she has a very huscky voice on the pod. Even better that that, she has he own podcast about to go out ....

CBA DEAL NEARLY AGREED - REGISTER YOUR INTEREST IN WEMBLEY TICKETS NOW

Dear Dan Lane

Negotiating teams from the NFL owners and players will resume talks aimed at getting a new Collective Bargaining Agreement agreed, which would end the four-month labour dispute and guarantee a fifth consecutive International Series game at Wembley Stadium..

NFL owners and players – and their respective legal teams – met yesterday (Monday) with U.S. Magistrate Judge Arthur Boylan in New York..

According to a report published by the Associated Press, NFL owners have a special meeting set for Thursday July 21 in Atlanta. At that meeting, it is reported that they could potentially ratify a new deal if one were agreed by that date.

NFL General Counsel Jeff Pash says: "The principals have done their jobs, the commissioner (Roger Goodell) and Mr (DeMaurice) Smith, and the owners and players have done their work. Now it’s up to us to get things properly documented, identify any remaining points that need to be cleared up and keep driving this process toward a conclusion."

Sports Illustrated’s Don Banks confirmed the two sides are very close to a deal and wrote: "It appears that labour peace in our time is nearly at hand."

Sorry for not posting before, but Jeremy Shockey (now at Panthers) says that the players have been told to get ready for training camp this Friday.

The website doesn't look like the most reliable of sources, but...

Every time I see this thread highlighted at the top of the forum with a new post I get all excited, I then enter the thread and find more speculation. Lets hope when I check it on Thursday someone will have extremely good news!

Well I was 2, and therefore I can officially say that a) you're an old git, and b) that intro is terrible!

Yea listened to the first one and will start listening to their second tonight. Still like them, and probably enjoy them going off on tangent more than their actual NFL chat. A bit tired of their constant promotional work, after I emailed Sky for them in their big push last year and didn't even get a thanks for it, or even a brief reply to an email I sent once. So i'm still listening but not raving about them :).

Just started listening to this the last three weeks, really liked the bit about the producer (i think) going out for a date at the end, was very funny. Larry David was good as well and Michelle Beadle sounds very nice as well. Get's good guests on it and is entertaining although been very little NFL talk on it so far.

I really liked the channel 5 NFL theme, but can't find it on youtube :(

And neither is Jeremy Shockey the most reliable of sources.

Even if the deal was ratified by the owners Thursday (and the players too, think they actually have a meeting today) then it is unlikely camps would be able to start by Friday. Also, I didn't think that the Panthers were due to open on Friday, thought that was just the Bears and Rams who are playing the first pre-season game. I'm sure they've been told to "be ready" though.

Vince Hilaire's Afro 20-07-2011 01:37 PM

Yeah, and another Panther, Thomas Davis, raised the point that perhaps free agency needs to have a window first before players start reporting.

RIP Myra Kraft after a battle with cancer.

Puts the NFL labor situation into perspective, especially Mr. Kraft who according to the journalists has been one of the owners keeping it together.

Hopefully an agreement is reached over the next few days anyway.

If its all sorted this week, when do we start our fantasy league?:D :lux:

Swanny32 20-07-2011 09:04 PM

Ardeo and I are still in discussions about setting up a BBS Keeper league as well, problem is we reckon we need 10 players minimum and I'm not sure we'd get enough as most people seem happy enough with just playing in the normal one.
