Quite a fake punt that, wasn't it?
|
i believe they will implement an 18 game season soon..these preseason games are meaningless and lots of players get hurt in them. might as well make it worthwhile and increase the number of regular season games.

I think we all need to see it:
Pity they wasted it in pre season IMHO, but never mind. |
I can see where you are coming from Strath what with wasting it in Pre Season but using that in the regular season, if it doesn't come off you are going to get punished a lot more than in a pre season. Quite incredible though.

They can always do it again if they want.
Now they know they can do it, they can try it against a team who wont expect it. Lions ;) There will be a team somewhere who can fall for it. |
Backup punter apparently. Some talk that Fisher wouldn't run that with his first choice.
Of course he might not have a backup punter for much longer given the amount of airtime he'll get. He could go to a team which doesn't see if he can kick. Like the Lions. ;) |
Want more of that stuff in regular games :)

You don't see stuff like that in the No Fun League. [Except when the 1-15 Dolphins succesfully ran 2 game-winning statue of liberty plays in preseason.] |
Fumblerooskie in the friendly Pro Bowl :p
Trying to think of ones from last season, but can't really remember many Oh, Oakland (of course) tried to run a fake field goal that failed miserably. I remember in 07, Brady and Moss screwing around twice. Once with the fake spike against Skins (sorry nooks) and the other being against the Jags with the statue-of-liberty like play (sort of) with the fake direct snap to Faulk before the blitz and lobbed pass to Moss. |
And the Wildcat of course. ;)

This is sort of about the Patriots, more about a player though. It's the base of an article i'm putting together for somewhere. He's someone that my friend knows and I met once on a UK visit.
Terrence Nunn was the 2nd all-time receiver for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the year 2007. He entered the 2008 NFL Draft and was undrafted like many other college players. But, unlike a lot of the high-ranked undrafted players, Nunn never even had a visit to another team throughout all the year. He still worked out every morning, in the gym and threw the ball around with his friends every night. Even as his NFL dream looked unlikely and slipped away, he kept working out. Until May 09, when he received a call from new personnel guy at the Patriots, Nick Caserio asking him to come in for a workout. To cut this article short anyway, he was put on the teams 80 man Training Camp Roster and has impressed every day and has been competing for playing time with none other than Joey Galloway as the 3rd WR. Talk about a story. Going from a player that will not be in the league ever to joining one of the best offenses in the league and fighting for a spot with a former all-pro. He is a guy who I cannot wait to see play on Thursday. To see if the talk is true. It's another Training Camp story anyway, i'm sure lots of teams have them. But how does the 2nd highest receiver in Nebraska history, not get drafted, not even get a visit yet comes to a minicamp and training camp and looks like one of the best players on the field? Anyone got any other stories (I saw that 400lb guy who dropped a lot of weight got hurt in Skins camp) |

College on Saturdays, NFL on Sundays. Perfect combo. |
Which is why I will be purchasing the ESPN package to go on my nice HD box in my room.
The advantages of quitting college while actually finding a decent job yet having no responsibility. :) |
Eagles camp still not good for injuries.
Hank Baskett now hurt. That's 3 injuries in 2 days. |
Bernard Pollard - obviously the least intelligent guy this side of Hicktown

Mike Williams is the right tackle who is with the Skins. He was actually at 450lbs but is now down to 340lbs. He's had a tough pre-season so far, as have all the offensive line against the likes of Orakpo and Albert. The O-line is getting killed, but from what I've read, a lot of O-lines are struggling in pre-season, and it happens every year. Facing such a good D can't help :) But the past couple of days, the rust seems to have started falling off. Williams had a good session today against Andre Carter, the line held, and Campbell threw some nice TDs. Williams is still a long shot to be a starter, but will get a lot of playing time on Thurs against the Ravens. I'm still rooting for the (not so) big fella :) |
Another fella at Redskins camp is this wide receiver, Keith Eloi

Talk about trying to find a way of being noticed. The Pats stayed there twice and he was doing this in and out throughout the weeks. Supposedly to show himself off to Belichick, the staff and the NFL media that were there that week. I'm really rooting for Nunn. If he can get a spot on the 53, it will be brilliant. I hope he gets picked up if he does get cut and impresses elsewhere. IMHO, Good enough to be the 2nd WR on Jets and Dolphins. Off Nunn, it's nice to see that every Patriots player cut so far (bar one) has ended up at the Chiefs. Maybe Pioli should do his scouting himself ;) |
