I'm off to see the Pats against the Eagle... not until November but can't wait :D

Latvian Eagle 30-05-2007 05:10 PM

Is it quite hard to get tickets on the day of games?!

I thought it might be quite easy, but my mates said that I probably wouldn't get one for the Jets vs Steelers. We arrive 13th October and the game is 14th!

Strathclyde Eagle 30-05-2007 10:19 PM

Steelers are one of those teams with fans everywhere. You'll need to be lucky I'd have thought.

elliott 30-05-2007 10:23 PM

Isn't it virtually impossible?

Latvian Eagle 31-05-2007 10:13 AM

I do have a mate who lives in New Jersey so I may have to ask him to get some tickets if possible then!

Strathclyde Eagle 31-05-2007 10:54 AM

I've heard people mention a site called Stub Hub, but must admit I don't know how it's run, what the mark-up is, etc.

Latvian Eagle 31-05-2007 12:54 PM

Might be worth a look... Thanks! :p I still think my best bet is to ask my mate to get them, as he lives practically 5 mins from the stadium! :lux:

Latvian Eagle 31-05-2007 12:56 PM

It appears I got the Oppo wrong for a start! Phili playing at the Jets! I suppose you're going to tell me they have fans all over the place too now! :o

Strathclyde Eagle 31-05-2007 01:22 PM

Not as many as Pittsburgh, but they tend to travel as well I think.

Benzhiyi 31-05-2007 02:54 PM

So, Nooks and I booked our flights to DC for Skins vs Fins and are in the process of arranging hotels and match tickets.

Very. Frickin'. Exciting.

And I don't care if we have Cleo Lemon starting, we're winning that opener. :)

Latvian Eagle 31-05-2007 03:18 PM

Good call on the stubhub site.

I might get some behind an endzone as they're about £60 each, on the side of the pitch is upwards of about £100!

Down the front on the side is about £175!

Latvian Eagle 31-05-2007 03:31 PM

Great! :( It won't let me register because it says my Zip/Postal Code doesn't match my country! What's that about!? I've e.mailed their customer service section for help. Was going for two tickets at $159.99 middle tear just to the right of one of the end zones!

Benzhiyi 31-05-2007 06:09 PM

Their customer service is shit. Also, you need to have the tickets dispatched to an address in the US or Canada.

I'm currently going through the mill with them to sort our tickets for Fins @ Skins.

Latvian Eagle 31-05-2007 06:14 PM

Thanks for the heads up Ben! I guess that's why it won't let me pick an address! Back to square one again!

RDSdaEAGLE 31-05-2007 06:14 PM

Jim, might be worth asking the concierge service at the hotel you're staying at to book you the tickets. Shouldn't be a problem, I would think.

Latvian Eagle 31-05-2007 06:21 PM

I like your thinking Robert!

Yep, they won't ship outside North America - fortunately I'm going with a mate who lives in America so it's OK for me.

I used Stubhub too for my ticket.

I went on ticketmaster on the Saturday and there were tickets left. By the time I went to book on Monday they'd all gone so I used Stubhub. Paid about $20 extra per ticket but that's not too bad.

Hopefully going to another game too but it all depends on work and the missus!

Latvian Eagle 31-05-2007 08:37 PM

Sorted!

Thanks for the helpful hints guys! The hotel can book them for me $135 each, or if I want to order through stubhub I can send them on to the hotel and they will hold them for me until I arrive! :p QUALITY! :lux:

This will almost certainly work, but I guarantee you'll have to pay top dollar for tickets so close to the game.

Benzhiyi 31-05-2007 08:40 PM

Well, that's my last point rendered irrelevant! Good work. Might try the same in DC.

RDSdaEAGLE 01-06-2007 10:21 AM

Good luck :p

I've always found concierge services to be excellent...glad it worked Jimbo! :D

Excellent - not a bad price either for a game at Giants Stadium.

Hope you enjoy the game... I can't wait for the season to start now :D

Dolphins fans (just from America, by the looks of things) have to pick up their Wembley tickets on the day.

LLCOOLSTEVE 25-06-2007 06:29 PM

How about two-a-days? It's on MTV at the minute. Features the Hoover Bucs, one of the best high school teams in the country.

Does anyone have 2 spare tickets?

elliott 27-06-2007 11:43 AM

I might possibly be able to get 2 tickets for someone.

Someone on facebook has posted that he has 2 spare and is not going to ebay them. I've asked for an email address so you can get hold of him.

Latvian Eagle 27-06-2007 01:02 PM

I am interested possibly if the price isn't ridiculous!

Oh and I've decided that from now on I shall look out for two teams... One NFC, and one AFC.

Carolina Panthers are obviously NFC, and I've chosen the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC! :p Mainly because my mate who got me into NFL follows two teams! I feel I need to compete! :p

elliott 27-06-2007 01:22 PM

Apologies.

2 tickets purchased in the 2nd ballot. £75 each, Level 5 right near the halfway line

:lux:

Anyone who's been to Wembley what's the view likely to be like up there? Could have gone for Level 1 but that would have been more towards the endzone in the corner, just hope I'm not too far up to see well.

As they say, "only in America"

I might replace the words, "his charity work" with "his expensive lawyers".

Strathclyde Eagle 20-07-2007 09:36 AM

Expensive lawyers + a plea bargain.

The articles and podcasts I've listened to which have talked about this have said the fact it is a federal prosecution means serious business. This isn't just a local district attorney trying to make a name for himself. When the government brings an indictment that means they're pretty sure they've got enough evidence for a conviction.

oz_da II 21-07-2007 05:35 AM

Doesn't sound good..

Quote:

The 27-year-old, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, was indicted on Wednesday by a federal grand jury in Richmond, Virginia, along with three other men on charges of running an illegal dog-fighting ring.

He has denied direct involvement in the pit bull fights but faces up to six years in jail and $US350,000 ($398,000) in fines if convicted of all charges.

The indictment said dogs sometimes fought to the death on Vick's property and that some fight losers were drowned, hung, shot and electrocuted.

It also charged Vick and his associates shot dogs that did not pass muster after tests of their fighting ability. .
Denies "direct involvement"...
Shocking stuff.

Strathclyde Eagle 31-07-2007 08:41 PM

Quick bump as I'd guess Chief Brody would like first shot at posting a tribute to Bill Walsh.

I'll never for get the last game of his collegiate career. I believe he had a shot at breaking the all time Boilermaker rushing record. We were beating the shit out of IU (:D :D) and he didn't play at all the second half. One of my first Purdue Heros. Even have a #40 jersey hanging in the closet at my parents house.

Wel played Mike. But it's time...

Pre season starts this weekend and the Skins are taking on the Titans

Football and NFL starting up on the same day, good stuff :)

Jamie W 14-08-2007 12:55 AM

Amazing amount of games on in the regular season this year. Five live games every Sunday night if you have sky digital as two are on the red button and three if you dont have sky digital. Every Monday night game sometimes 2 games on a Monday and all the Thursday/Saturday games. Im guessing that means channel 5 have no games this year as there all live on sky. Amazing coverage! :p

Heres the link to the first fixtures

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12949,00.html

elliott 14-08-2007 01:06 AM

C5 still have SNF and MNF.

I'm not sure who on earth will watch those games on Sky.

Carlson > Halling.

In fairness, it's basically exactly the same number of games on telly, except for the 6 SNF games which five didn't show last year.

Jamie W 14-08-2007 01:11 AM

It surely must be more games, last year sky showed 2 live and 2 live on red button every Sunday. This year its 3 live and 2 more live on red button, so working that out its at least 16 more games this year, then you add on the double headers on Monday nights it adds up. Also sky are claiming to be the only place for Monday night football.

elliott 14-08-2007 12:14 PM

It's a lie. I promise you.

Last season, every week there was 2 live on sky and 2 on their red button, and SNF and MNF on Five.

This year these are all still on sky (or five).

The only difference is that the second MNF game of week 1 is shown, and the 6 SNFs that Five don't show because of Baseball will be shown.

So it's about 7 extra games I think.

This is all fact.

Strathclyde Eagle 06-09-2007 08:12 PM

By the way, in spite of the fact that some haters are saying we'll be awful again, I think the Dolphins could be really good (I normally love Simmons' work, but as a Patriots fan he can't write impartially about the Dolphins - he hasn't even mentioned that his new crush on Wes Welker will soon be lost because Welker does lots of things well, but scoring TDs isn't one of them).

Weak schedule, experienced (and prior to last year, successful) QB, same stingy defence. I think we can be really good, with the question mark hovering over Cameron. If he's a half-decent coach I think we could get one of the AFC wild cards.

Fingers crossed - enjoy Maryland Ben! Come home with a W!
