Either way, I just want football back, as we go over this argument year after year.

And the answer will always change.

After 07, Brady was the best. After 08+09, Manning was the best. After 10, Brady looked like the best.

I can't wait for December, Brady vs Manning again. In Foxboro, where it isn't Peyton's Place. ;)

But during that time we've played the Colts twice and put Manning in that position and once he delivered the goods and the other time he looked like scoring every time he touched the ball and almost did it on the final drive and was arguably unlucky. Whereas you never feel that it is inevitable when Brady leads a final drive, even if they score it.

But that's because we have no pass-rush, not because of Brady.

I only have one thing to say - THREE RINGS

And because Manning has a presence which exceeds what he can actually do on the pitch. It's partly all show with the flailing arms when he's calling protections etc. but it's also an aura kind of thing. He's greater than the sum of his parts for me.

Im sure you'd say different if you weren't Pats fans.

On to something different though, we are being linked with Plaxico Burress once he is released from jail. Can't see it happening personally, think the Media are running out of things to talk about and just trying to pull a story from out of the air, what with us taking Vick. It would be great to have Plaxico as we do lack a tall receiver who can go up for jump balls, Avant is ok but let's face it, to win a Superbowl you need someone better than him. As Ardeo just text me, having someone like Plax in the game against the playoff game against the Packers would probably have meant that the final game ending pick would have been caught for a TD or possibly batted down to give us another shot. If we do get him, our offense becomes the most frightening offense in the NFL. Period.

Right, so us debating the top two QBs and siding with the Pats one isn't on but you making a ridiculous statement like your last sentence is OK, right?

saxoneagle 26-05-2011 01:17 PM

Oh, you scored a full SEVENTY-NINE points less than the Pats last year (equivalent to over 11 TDs) and you think adding someone who hasn't played for two years suddenly makes you "frightening"?

Maybe frightening for your dog or your own WR's leg...

With the improved O Line (under Mudd and with the addition of Watkins) Swanny may have a point though :hi: ;)

Philly must be kicking themselves that they missed out on Marlon King and Lee Hughes ;)

And with the edition of 2 drafted Running Backs and a big blocking TE, the Pats have added a Running game.

In terms of improved O-Line, Pats technically added 2 first round picks as Marcus Cannon has had a very good recovery.

In terms of best offense in the NFL? I'm not scared of Vick as much as i'm scared of a Rivers, a Rodgers, a Manning, a Ryan, a Brady.

Yes, Jackson can get deep, but he has one of the highest drop percentages in the NFL. Yet, do you have any fear of him going across the field? I don't, mainly because I don't think Vick is accurate enough on short to intermediate passes to do it.

ardeo 26-05-2011 03:07 PM

I think another big factor with Eagles offence this year is that Vick is going into this season as the guy, all the guys love him and are going to bust their arses for him. Think that will be another improvement. Also think that our running game should be even better with a year older McCoy and improved OL.

Agree that Vick isn't one of the best passers but he has the weapons when he gets it right and he's obviously the greatest threat to run from QB as well.

I'm not sure that you can state that we would then have the best offence in the league, but i'd be pretty confident in argueing it.

Our defence is still going to suck though :(

A quarter of your schedule is made up of playing the Bills and the Dolphins. Do me a favour.

Says the team that faced the Deadskins and a team who'd given up on their coach and playing a backup QB in the Cowboys.

Id still rather play the Phins and Bills than the Skins and Cowboys.

How blinkered.

Both the Pats and Eagles strength of schedule for 2011 are the same. For 2010, the Pats was MORE difficult - a combined 136-120 against your 133-123. Pretty similar, but still...

And you played the 6-10 Vikings and Lions along with the 6-10 Cowboys and Redskins... oh, and the 6-10 Texans and the 6-10 Titans. Oops, and the 6-10 49ers.

9 of 16 games there against losing teams :) And the Jags were 8-8. So only 6 games against teams with winning records.

And we had 8 games against teams with losing records, but we also played the Ravens, Steelers, Colts, Jets (twice), Chargers, Bears and Packers.

I think you could argue that just the 4 matches against Ravens, Steelers and Jets D would limit our point scoring, no? You didn't play anyone with a D as tough as those; in fact the NFC doesn't have a team (currently) as good on D as those three. Packers get close.

But you play the same two shite teams year in year out in your division......I bet you wouldn't be so big headed about the Pats if they played in the NFC East and had to play the Giants, Cowgirls and Redskins year in year out.

You seem to have conveniently left out the Bengals.....and Browns (which you lost!), oh and the Lions as well......oh and the Vikings.....a Chargers team without any receivers, and then of course the two teams that make up the numbers in your division.

Swanny32 26-05-2011 04:54 PM

We might not have had to play games against the Steelers and Jets (although we do this season I believe) but we still came up against some pretty tough Defenses, and I don't care how crap the Cowgirls and Foreskins were last season, when it gets to game time between two NFC East division teams, the form book goes out of the window.
