Did you watch the game? The KC D was knacked and had no answer to San Diego in the late going - the only way the Chiefs were going to win was with a two pointer. It was a ballsy, worth-a-gamble call. |
I hate it when people quote other users out of context. ;)
Anyway, here is Paul further explaining why he doesn't like going for two late on when he could kick an XP and get a tie. Quote:

Er.
a) The 2 point conversion on Madden 09. The scenario is that you have to win which Ben can confirm, so you need the 2 point win. b) There was no debate about the Panthers RBs, I said that they had slowed down and were coming up against a great defense and that Stewart had injury concerns. I was wrong as the Bucs couldn't stop them but I never said either Stewart or Williams were bad, just that Williams got the TDs in the RZ recently. c) I explained the 2pt conversion point before Bens post, I was referring to the fact that they will do plays like that and other risky things as it doesn't affect their season as if they win, they win, if they lose, they get a better draft pick. And the Dolphins have to take advantage of the risks that may be taken. |
Oh, and Bruschi is on IR.
Are there any other players that people like for LB that are available. We now have two players that this time last week didnt have a team, two rookies performing above what they should be and 2 on the Practise Squad. With our other 2 linebackers in the Squad partially injured in Redd and Vrabel. |

Lots of other injuries as well. Hillis and Frerotte both out for the season as well. Denver on to their 8th RB now with a BJGE-type player in him being an undrafted free agent. Culpepper possibly out, Ross and Jacobs likely out in NY and Jags WR Jones suspended for final 3 weeks. |
Oh, and for the Number 1 pick for the Lions we have:
Stafford x 2 Oher x 1. Oh, Saxon. Where's the quote gone in your signature :hi: :hi: :lux: |
Speaking of number 1 picks.
I had known for ages that San Diego drafted Eli Manning number one and then traded him for Rivers... But what I didn't know was that Eli had already said he didn't want to play for the Chargers even if they did pick him... My quite obvious question is... WHY? |
Why he didnt want to go to San Diego?
or Why did the Chargers pick him? Either way, its worked out for the Chargers, Rivers is a better QB (IMHO of course although inconsistent) and they got a lot of picks out of it at the time. |

I removed my entire sig. I couldn't think of anything inspiring to add so I deleted it. You should consider the same with your piece of tripe ;) :D |

IIRC, the Giants and Chargers had already agreed what they were going to do with the first two picks. Not sure why the Chargers didn't just pick Rivers although I'm guessing they got something else in return. - Appears they hadn't agreed anything! LOL! Never trust Wiki, but most of this seems accurate enough: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivers-Manning_trade |

I'm sure from what I understand that NY weren't number 2? But I agree I just don't understand why Chargers just didn't take Rivers in the first place.
Although I don't agree he is better than Eli! :hi: |

Fair enough! I laughed when I read he held up the Chargers shirt but refused to wear the cap!
Isn't it generally a really poor move to reject a deal anyway? Fortunately the Giants wanted Eli, because generally if you turn a team down, the next year no one will go near you?! |
He got lots of stick for not signing with the Chargers, but in the end it has worked out well for both teams.
I think that might have been the first draft I saw live. I particularly remember that the analysts were starting to think a San Diego-New York trade might not happen. I'm pretty sure the trade was only announced just before the fifth pick (San Diego drafted first, the Giants drafted fifth). Ultimately I think the trade worked pretty well for both teams. I'm pretty sure that San Diego got Merriman out of the trade, while the Giants got a QB who won them the Super Bowl. At the time though the general consensus was that the Chargers got the better deal. |
