It's probably been mentioned before (several times I would imagine), but anyone who offers to 'drive him there myself' when an offer springs up for a player they want rid of. Stupid f**king statement!

And as I'm moaning, anyone who has ever learnt the Samuel L Jackson quote from Pulp Fiction. Whether you have ever quoted it or not, the fact you have memorised it on the understanding that you may one day quote it, makes you a c**t!

Yep - it always pissed me off when I bought first class tickets at Bromley South Station and the counter guy would say that because of the high ticket price. Certain type of Knob such as HRP........

Zaha 20:17. "The path of the right winger is beset on all sides by the inequities of the Southgate and the tyranny of 'white old men'. Wilfried is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the Ivory Coast through the African Cup of Nations, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost assists. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to convince the referee that he dived. And you will know he is just too good for you when he lays his vengeance upon you."

For the record - I Googled it, didn't have it memorised...

People on facebook giving thanks for the year they had and all the tediously boring 'memories' they made over the course of it. Extra points for telling us about all the things they wanna do in 2017, yet we all know there's not a cat in hell's chance they'll get off their lazy arse to do any of them anyway.

The war in Syria continues. The perpetrator of the Istanbul massacre is still on the run. The police shot and killed and man in Yorkshire and Britain's leading EU diplomat has resigned over differences with the government and the lead story on 5Live News tonight?

A couple of Chelsea fans have been fined for not letting a black man on a train in Paris several months ago. "Later, we'll be talking with his lawyer." Stay tuned! FFS.

I was near someone that got close up to Kelly and shouted that he was "f--king useless and to f--k off". No way would Kelly not have heard him shouting at him. He soon got shouted down (the fan) but how on earth do these people think that by abusing your own player in anyway is going to help. Our confidence is shot to pieces as it is without your own fans telling you how crap you are.

There are 2 guys who sit behind us in the Upper Holmesdale who drive me mad doing this. On Tuesday night they spent 45 minutes slagging off CB. In the 2nd half they complained that he wasn't on the pitch to get on the end of a few crosses.

And the headline on tonight's 6 O'clock News? Jill Saward has died. Who?

I'm sure her family are distraught but I bet 99.99% of the population hadn't heard of her yesterday. A worthy life's activism no doubt. Pity they didn't see fit to publicize it when she was alive.

It just seems symptomatic of the recent dubious enthusiasm for 'famous person dies' stories. Would that have even made the headlines let alone be the lead story if it wasn't on the back of the brouhaha about celebrity deaths in 2016? I can't sincerely say that it's an annoyance but it's a very odd editorial decision by the BBC if you ask me.

While BBC1 is on in the background annoying me. On the panel for tonight's Question of Sport "Premiership hotshot, Dean Ashton !" Yes, he must have made at least 60, top flight appearances. To be fair, his name is still frequently in the media: as a BBC pundit. They never scraped the barrel that badly with Bill Beaumont and Emlyn Hughes did they?

She wasn't famous. But she helped change the law due to her immense bravery.

Rather her leading the news than George Michael.

Absolutely

ElwissAtMemphis 05-01-2017 08:55 PM

So, in the editorial meeting, do you think that they made a decision to specifically highlight the death of somebody who made an admirable sacrifice to the greater good as a counterbalance to the endless stories about dead pop singers and movie actors and the vacuous pontificating about whether last year was worse than any other in that regard?

If that's true then I sincerely doff my cap to them. Sadly, I suspect you give them way too much credit.

I remember this case v clearly.

It was the infamous comment by the judge about her 'trauma not being that great' that caused huge controversy at the time. She was the first rape victim to waive her anonymity and speak out about what happened.

I suspect the case also became more widely known and infamous because they were in a vicarage.

I'm not sure why that's relevant

I think what maz was saying is that her death is far more 'newsworthy' than a celeb that has abused themselves for decades and paid the price for it.

ElwissAtMemphis 05-01-2017 09:24 PM

I'm not sure I agree with your definition of 'newsworthy'. If you're asking, is her death as deserving of media coverage as George Michael's then I would agree.

But did they make an editorial decision to reinforce that point? Admirable if they did, but I doubt it. I strongly suspect that it was influenced by the confluence of 2 aspects that sadly obsess the British media and public. Notorious sex crime and celebrity death. Maybe they're making a principled stand against this trend in the media. Maybe they're pandering to it.

I'm way too cynical for my own good but I know which one my money's on.

Going to a mates wedding tomorrow:

1) Suits that no longer fit.
2) New shirts that are held together by an inordinate amount of pins, clasps, bits of plastic and cardboard that take an age to deconstruct. It's taken all of my will power to not just rip the ******* apart. The paraphernalia holding it together has left deep creases, and when I consider my very limited ironing skills, I know it's going to take forever. It came in a big posh box, just ******* fold it!
3) Any event that requires formal attire.

Oi! I do the cooking! I don't think you could call it posh, it's going to be cram packed with Brummies and Yam Yams.

Surprised none of you recommended vinegar.

Just got a boll0cking for doing a wash with one item only, but can't be annoyed about that though, it's my own fault.

Alpha males... 'nuff said.

Salad_Burnet 07-01-2017 06:25 PM

I got two alpha males at work. One is annoyingly implacable, like nothing gets to him, and yet he's previously had time off work for smashing up his flat and been suspended for harassing his ex-girlfriend; the other one, whenever he makes a point, he builds up to it with a load of put-on cockney noises before giving out a torrent of meaningless glottal stops. I can't stand both of them.

Our site Operations Manager is probably the the epitome of the Alpha Male. He is incapable of not taking over every meeting, every conversation.

He will show up for a meeting 10 minutes late and just start in the second he sits down.

Basically everyone within the company (some 700+ people) cannot do a thing right or take any initiative or have an opinion that is not cleared through him.

How is hasn't had a heart attack yet I don't know. The thing that really annoys me is he is usually right.

Ha. What are put on cockney noises ? Sort of gurning and looking like you are riddled with cockney ? :)

All the time. He's an LBC and TalkSport listener as well, so every conversation is actually an argument to be won.

Bin bags marked as 'Heavy duty' when they quite clearly are not.

Almost as bad as a box of eggs being marked as large when they also are quite clearly not.

Or 'homemade'.

I did query this once and the member of staff was quite taken aback when I asked whose home had the food been made in. It was clearly factory produced.

This is 100% jealousy on my part, but people who are always going out doing stuff, going places talking trips etc. really annoy me. Even more so when they splash it all over Facebook.

I tell myself that this is the reason that 63% of Americans can't handle a $500 car repair or a $1,000 emergency room bill.

And the BBS double posting at this time of day.

Paul Merson and his xenophobia

how the **** he and the rest of the Proper Football Men (trademark Football365) get paid to air their shit, ignorant opinions on the likes of Marco Silva is beyond me. "I'm not 'havin it, wot's 'ee's done to get a Premier League job over Giggs, Pardew and Rowett?" and that kind of thing.

Is "Emergency room" sexy time speak for a facility one might find at a high end knocking shop motel?

Possibly... but in the context of my post, I assume people would find the money for that without a problem. :p

The fact that as soon as the schools go back the traffic comes to a grinding halt again.

Had to tell one of my guys he didn't get the promotion he went for.

Feel pretty shitty.

You could have eased his pain by letting him know that the person who got the promotion will be brilliant, and the good news is he's still got a job.
