Been done before, but worth a repeat... people who leave their shopping carts in the car park, specifically in a car parking space.

Saw a woman do it this morning, and I gave her that, "Really" look, but she just ignored me and got in her car and drove off. As there was another cart in the same space left previously, I guess she assumed it was acceptable to do likewise.

It is annoying when the supermarkets change the shelf location of stuff, but a shopping chart does seem a little OTT.

In Florida our local Aldi, (cheaper than Walmart!!), charged a Quarter to release the trolley but they were still discarded all over the car park. You could have made a few bucks a day just collecting and returning them.

We rarely had to pay a Quarter as we'd just collect a discarded one and return it after shopping 25 cents better off!

When you’re in traffic queue on a main road, and there’s a road on your left…and you politely leave a gap in front of you, so you don’t block the entrance in case someone may want to drive into it.

As you’re just patiently waiting for the queue to move along, someone comes out of that left side road and just joins the queue, effectively taking your place. Not even a nod or a thank you for being considerate. Just pulls out of the side road and joins the massive queue. Doesn’t even look.

This has happened to me twice in two days. Makes me very angry. How rude.

Im happy to delete the word ‘cute’, but I think you know what I meant. I couldnt find the exact word I wanted hence why I said ‘or something’ after. I wanted to imply the user of ‘super’ has a feeling of being disarming and childlike but nothing describes it better than ‘cute’ as I also think it has a critical tone calling it that aswell.

Any suggestions for a word that is more applicable?

Had one good song, 'West End Girls', the rest absolutely dire IMHO, how they've carved out a successful career is a mystery to me, their lyrics are like something a 14 year old teenager had written and the singer can't sing.

No, cute is fine... I was just joshing with you.

I find the use of words like "super" in this case come and go, and people soon move on to the next adjective that is deemed cool.

A bit like the current over use here of "No worries" (which actually superseded "No problem")... suddenly everyone is channeling their inner Australian for some reason.

Boxers don't need it. Nor do socks.

T-shirts, shirts, jumpers, and trousers all need to be ironed if we're entering the general public. Much more chance of meeting the woman of my dreams if I don't look like a sack of spuds.

My half arsed method is to give them a quick iron straight out the machine and hang them in the airing cupboard. Takes half the time.

In tomorrow's installment I will be exploring the virtues of vinegar for the modern houseproud man.

Go look at prices for a new iPhone or Samsung

iPhone 14 based model is £850, and goes up from there. 14 Pro is £1k. Same with Samsung, S23 is £900, S23+ is £1k

Not sure I agree entirely with that. I suppose if you are some whizzkid with top end camera skills, you might appreciate the difference. I do agree with you that I suspect most people with the higher price sets are more likely wasting their cash on some kind of ego trip.

But I did do exactly the same as you. We probably have the same model. I was particularly impressed with the client service from Movistar here - they did all I wanted and recommended me this phone without trying to sell me a higher priced phone I didn't need.

There's a lot of that these days.

I'd extend that to buying a Nintendo Switch (even PS5) - especially when they were first released - maybe I am old school, but at that price I would expect them to throw in at least one game. It's a bit much to expect parent(s) to fork out a massive sum at Christmas time (for example) and then add in another 50 notes to give their kiddie something to actually play on the machine. And that's only considering one child families.

There was a common BBS phrase a while back that summed up that kind of commercial shithousery.

They have been doing this for ages now whoever they are interviewing. I find it really difficult to watch now. They have just joined the rest and thrown away their USP which was always that they dispassionately reported the facts only. You could always go to the BBC after watching other crap and read the facts for yourself and make your own mind up. now it's just more of the same.

We don't watch the news live any more at all now. At least when you read it, you avoid all the emotive stuff and it's easier toe pick out the facts amongst the rubbish. One o fmy pet peeves and worthy of this thread.

Idiot Palace fans pant wetting over relegation when I'd put money on the fact that the 3rd from bottom team won't even reach 36 points.

I concur. It seems they lurk around on the BBS whenever there is another game on featuring a team lower in the league. When that team scores a goal they immediately post their doomsday comment.

Feck me - go and water the garden, take the dog for a walk, start a jigsaw.

And remember these aren't 14 year olds.

Genuine question as I have not followed this story, what agenda does BBC have with regards to this story?

So far have been offered port and wine to celebrate...why the **** would I celebrate a structure of national infantalisation and the rewarding of unearned wealth and privilege at my expense?

They might as well say, heh John give us some money and enjoy your plebian idiocy, you twat

On a similar note, shops offering Charles their congratulations on his coronation. Effectively saying “Congratulations, you’ve outlived your mother.”

Like most of the media, developing an avenue for an unnecessary negative angle to a story, without care for the division created

So did a young guy.

Given how the BBC is now dominated by Tory donors and such, I don’t see why they’d have an agenda to undermine to the government. Perhaps that question was designed to lead in the interviewees to say ‘actually, the governments done well here.’

Johnsonpen 27-04-2023 12:08 PM

The BBC is also very fond of dominating the news with stories about itself when other news channels hardly mention their story. For example the DJ with young girls. They also push their Panorama stories as main headlines when sometimes not worthy of the coverage. Reporters should be focusing on the people being interviewed, their escape story, and not were they too slow. I am sure they do not want words put in their mouths and it is not journalism to pose closed questions.

then the tories wheeled out Celeverly on the Today show this am. i wonder if said donors were pleased or punching themselves in the face.

This is what I thought too, hence I asked the question. I am not convinced that bbc has an agenda here apart from promoting how good this government has been

Comments like these and the ones above suggest the BBC is doing a relatively OKish job of remaining impartial. The Guardian on the other hand were implying that HMG wanted UK citizens in The Soudan to die horribly but that's their wont so fair enough.

I suspect that there are individuals with strong views but the driving factor here is this confrontational/dig out/make news rather than report facts style they have adopted for some time now. There is a time and a place for that but certainly not in every interview.

One of the real bugbears is that you rarely get to hear what the interviewee actually wants to say (right or wrong). I would rather they allow them to express/communication their views/opinions and allow the viewer to interpret the rights/wrongs. Their problem is that they do have a responsibility to curtail illegal stuff (racism etc) and stick to the facts rather than proliferate blatant lies. The latter has got harder but they have gone too far in their reaction (in my opinion) and broken what was the jewel in their crown which was the place to check dispassionate facts. Now they are all but another media source due to a misinterpretation driven by the US companies.

On the front page of this BBS where they have links to news articles, there are two separate links from different news source where the headline includes the word "Hatch" to describe Palace transfer rumors about different players.

Not sure why, but just find it annoying.

I've noticed a deterioration in those links over the years. The rise of ridiculous sites such as GiveMeSport which generates endless stories based on nothing at all (it makes teamtalk look like a reasonable source of news) is quite irritating. Who can blame players or managers or owners for not ever wanting to speak their mind--any and everything they say gets mangled by these clickbait factories.
