He will probably have 3-10 off 12 overs by close of play as well. Blokes a legend!

Cracking effort from Stevens that (again).

I think Stevo also had Labuschagne out lbw for 11 on his Glamorgan debut the other week. Must be his bogey man, the tour down under this winter beckons.

Shouldn't Surrey be declaring already to try and win one this before the inevitable rain delays later? 220 lead right now
|

Burns 100. Good lad. Surprised we haven't declared now. Should be trying to get a wicket before lunch.

We've put them in just before lunch. Our bowlers getting some movement on the ball. Roach could have had a wicket. Let's hope the rain stays away and we get a winner!
|
Could lose it, could win it , could draw it. Exciting right now!
|
Gubbins gone! Big wicket.
|
Roach doing what Roach does!
Come on the Rey! |
Off t’Oval again today. Weather looks better although the oppo look tougher, especially as we’ve lost Burns, Pope, Foakes & Roach. Could be a long day but I’ve got a bottle of something cold & fizzy to take the edge off anything underwhelming on-the-field...
|
Rotten luck for Foakes.
Going again on Saturday. It might actually feel like the cricket season this time! |
The usual Surrey middle order collapse has commenced.
|
Jamie Overton must have been signed for his batting. Decent in the end 285/5.

Oval tomorrow for me :sunglasses:

Just got in from the boy’s Kung Fu & football morning to see if Surrey had made any inroad into the Glocs batting this morning.
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiice. 113-7, Virdi & Moriarty takin ‘em all. |
Yep, went yesterday. Good entertainment, with Jacks getting his first championship wicket too. Somewhat surprising, given his success in T20 last season.
|
Saqib Mahmood at Lancs looks the real deal. On Sky now, he is quick and can reverse swing at 90mph plus. Needs integrating into the England team with a view to the Ashes this winter.
|
As does the Lancs leggie Matt Parkinson. Interestingly Bumble had him in his Lancs all time home grown XI this week. High praise indeed.
|
Very professional & comprehensive win for Surrey vs top-of-the-table Glocs. Win the toss, bat once, bat big, let the spinners loose...

The other Ollie Robinson has had a good day- 120 opening the batting.
|
Another innings defeat for Glocs today, beaten by Leics. Interesting...
|
Kent drew with Northants. We declared overnight despite being behind to try and force the win but Northants batted the day out. We are still without a win this season but I feel it has been a bit better in the last few games. The last two games next month will be about trying to get into 4th and avoid a place in Division Three.
We start T20 with three home game. The first is against Hampshire on Wednesday. I have got high hopes this year. |
Anyone know what will happen to Surrey's 3 T20 games starting the week 21st June if the lock down is extended? Will they have to be social distance events like the previous weeks games?
|

I have also just lost my B+I Lions tickets due to COVID restrictions on the size of the crowd. |

I’ve booked 25 tix for me & mates for the T20 game vs Middx on 25th Jun. I’ve started working out which 5 or 6 I love the most. We’ve all seen Sophie’s Choice, right? |

Yeah, I bet Richard Gould is sweating a bit on the Govt announcement next week, although these days he’s probably most interested in when Bristol City can get fans back at Ashton Gate... |
For the first time this year Kent won.:lux:
Batting first we started really well but fell away later in the innings ending on 176-6. I thought it was a good score but potentially a bit short. Hampshire had a decent start in reply before Darren Stevens in his first T20 for Kent took a wicket with his first ball (but was possibly the wrong decision) before later on getting a second that definitely was out. Fred Klaassen had a poor first over but then took four wickets. Tomorrow evening Middlesex play Surrey at Lord's. It's a 7pm start on Sky once the test match has finished for the day. |
Both the Currans & Roy start for Surrey V Middlesex in the 2020 at Lord’s . Plus Gareth Batty is captain.

Kyle Jamieson, even on a short contract, could be a good signing for Surrey.
Anything that reduces the chances of pie thrower Dunn (0-27 in 2 overs) playing in any form of the game in the first team is fine by me |

Surrey won at a canter again tonight.
Will be a good side that beat them in T20 this summer if these players remain available. |

Am going to 4 of the next 6. I think I’ll stick a fiver on Glammy to win on Monday.... |

Matt Dunn v Glamorgan 0-20 (1 over) v Somerset 1 - 21 (2 overs) v Middlesex 0-27 (2 overs) Bowled thirty balls and conceded 68 runs and keeps getting picked for the team The opposition must look forward to seeing the team sheets |
We may as well let Overton have a bowl and pick someone purely for their fielding!
|
This is going to sound a little selfish & I appreciate it doesn’t do Surrey’s bank balance any good but I rather enjoy socially-distanced, reduced capacity cricket at the Oval. Plenty of room to spread out, easy to get a beer & easy and quick to get in & out.
I’m rather hoping that I get to keep my 2x SL ODI tix as I expect that will be reduced capacity, too. |
Quote:
And it's 3/3. Bit tighter tonight after a great Roy innings. Still think we are a batsman short. Long way to go yet. Note their best player by far was the Aussie from RSA. |

The Club is aware of this evening’s statement from the Prime Minister announcing the delay in the progress of the national Covid-19 road map. This announcement affects four Vitality Blast games at The Kia Oval as well as the Royal London One Day International between England and Sri Lanka on Thursday July 1st. The Club are currently consulting with the ECB and will be in touch with all affected ticket holders within the next 48 hours. Surrey County Cricket Club Members will always receive priority when allocating tickets for matches with limited capacities. |

I suspect that last paragraph, probably rules us out:( But, fair enough. |

Surrey won all three games convincingly. Fast bowlers are on a hiding to nothing in T20. They're either spot on or get hammered to all sides more often than not. |
Assume the cc game v Somerset in July will now be socially distanced as well.

Oh yes, Roy, Jacks, Evans, Smith, Sam Curran, Overton, Tom Curran, etc etc. Can't see any problems there." |

Huge win for Middx tonight, chasing down 215 to beat Hants.
Sussex also looking ominously good. |
Kent lost tonight against Somerset by 47 runs.
We are back playing tomorrow against Glamorgan. |

Just got my 20/20 tickets for next week on site. All now social distancing of course. Happy with that. Final game against Kent not up yet.
|
Kent beat Glamorgan by 40 runs. Kent scored 144 but then bowled Glamorgan out for 104.
We have gone top for now but do not play again until Sunday. It's almost certain we will drop at least one place and maybe two by then. |
At the Oval last night. I think everyone who went knew that there was not going to be much play. We are all nuts. Certainly a washout today and a good chance of one Monday.
Will leave Surrey unbeaten after 6. Not the way we want it though. Bloody weather. Roy and the 2 Currans on England duty after today. What a great signing Plunkett was.? How many games has he played? |

Sussex line-up looks well strong. |

On a more serious and sombre note, it's nine years to the day Tom Maynard died. :( |

We got some beers at around 6pm on the Monday game this week from a stand near block 15 of the OCS, was asked unprompted for my member card and email address (without any reference to the credit), the beers came and wasn't asked to pay so presumed it was the credit paying (£5.20 x2) Next round we got, this didn't happen so just paid normally (which dare I say they want you to do). Same last night at two locations. Is it only at certain bars? Is there any way of telling how much is still on the card? And presumably you have to ask rather than the (agency/temp) staff knowing? |
I think it's fair to say that young Archie Lenham was pleased with his catch last night!
The third generation of Sussex Lenhams, playing county cricket at 16 while still at school, fair play to him. |

Well looks like another Oval washout tomorrow. And Friday looks in doubt as well. If we take any notice of the weather forecast only the Somerset game on Wednesday will be played out of the three this week. What a pain.

Agreed, I had organised tickets for today and Friday. :grrr:

I’ve just bailed (decided not to get the train from Cambridge) but I actually think it’ll go ahead now. The umpires haven’t called it off yet so it can’t be THAT bad & the forecast for the rest of the evening doesn’t actually look that bad…

I probably would have chanced it tonight if I hadn’t seen just 5 overs last Thursday, after the same journey from Cambridge :p |

ps Stream says Game delayed by rain and they are showing a recording. |
Glad I bailed….
|
Bad result from Surrey today.
Essentially a B team playing now because of the international players leaving. |
Surrey V Somerset- both Overtons playing.
For Surrey Ben Geddes is a new name to me |
Another really poor performance tonight. They genuinely batted poorly & fielded poorly. Bowling was patchy - decent from the spinners, woeful from the seamers especially Clark & Dernbach. Rudderless. Let’s hope Jamieson & Pope are back on Friday.

‘Thank you for your patience whilst we have worked with the government to confirm what capacity crowd, we can welcome to The Kia Oval for the England v Sri Lanka One-Day International on Thursday 1st July 2021. We can now confirm that we can welcome a 50% capacity crowd for this fixture. As has been our policy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Surrey County Cricket Club Members will receive priority in attending this match. This email is to confirm that your ticket, and any guest tickets that you have purchased for the 2021 Royal London One-Day International, are still valid and you are able to attend this fixture. We are looking forward to welcoming you at The Kia Oval next week. There will be further requirements for those who are attending, such as completing a consent form and proving that you have either received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine (at least 14 days prior to attending the match) or that you have had a NHS negative lateral flow test for COVID-19 (to be taken within 48hrs of attending the match).’ |
