Moan over !!

Don't worry, give it another ten years and the benefit of waking up with all those aches and pains is that you know you're still alive. Trust me on that.

On the Palace web site when they have reports of Academy games they have photos of players in action from the games but never put captions under the photos saying who the player in the picture is.

Very frustrating for anyone not overly familiar with the players.

Probably queuing for diesel so they can get to people like yourself...having to limit work or let people down is already part of this fuel fiasco for us and it's barely day two.

People buying bottled water in supermarkets.

It's literally thousands of times more damaging to the planet, costs extra and is the same product as what comes out of the tap. Why do people do this?

I buy the cheap 17p for 2litres bottled water as it doesn’t instantly clog up my coffee machine with scale. The one that I really don’t understand is the nestle one which is tap water passed under a uv light and “treated”. It then gets a £1.50 price tag slapped in it.

Cheap?

That 17p would buy you 114 litres out of your tap. :)

I’ve met two people who don’t drink tap water, only bottled. I regret never really prying into why they do that, it is very odd and wasteful from my perspective too.

Stick a filter on your tap, job's a good 'un.

£30 at Wickes (pre Brexit pricing) for a self-tapping, er, tap.

At my current rate of consumption it would take 4 years to pay that back let alone the fitting, then the cost of the filters. But thanks for the tip.

They're as bad with darts. They think the whole concept is hitting the bull. A player scores a 180 and you'll hear a polite clap. Another thrower errantly hits a bulls-eye while aiming for a 25 and the place erupts.

I had that problem with Virgin a while back. Can't you just spend the smallest amount (I think I donated 1000 miles to a charity or something like that) & re-set the clock?

I can, it's true. I thought to share with my bro or find a charity to share to... but of course there's a fee for doing that.

They couldn’t wait to bounce me out of silver class after cancelling 5 of my flights

Johnnieboy 27-09-2021 02:13 PM

You could buy a one way UK domestic ticket for next year some time, adjust the avios/cash amount to the lowest cash possible (usually £1) and then cancel it later. You'll lose the pound but get the avios back. That will reset the clock, but if you were still worried book the flight for 11-12 months from now and that gives you another year to reset the clock again by earning some points elsewhere before cancelling.

Get a Sainsburys nectar card, link the account and transfer them over and have some 'free' shopping. And then shop around airlines going forwards - you might be surprised just how poor BA are on long haul compared to some

swissroll 27-09-2021 05:11 PM

The AA send me a renewal notice late August 2 months ahead of renewal & 15% more than last year (no call outs) and £90 more than a new member would pay for same cover.

Finally get around to calling them today to cancel and they wont take the cancellation call unless within 14 days of renewal (automated questions upfront). I wonder how many people forget given the renewal notice was so far ahead of the actual renewal to deal with it - very shabby.

RAC are the same but normally quite easy to beat down - which suggests there's still plenty of margin for them.

My original renewal proposal was about 10% higher than for the previous year. I got them to agree to honour the price of the previous year & cover me for 15 months rather than 12 months.

When I said his 1st offer wasn't good enough, he asked 'What do you expect me to do?' so I replied 'I expect you to propose your lowest offer'

Every year I get the AA up my quote. I just phone them up at renewal and ask what they can do for me? Usually about 25 quid gets knocked off. One thing is never have your policy renew automatically and hint that your looking around at other deals when you call them.
If you swap between companies and use a cashback site the are some really great new customer deals to be had.

I was half asleep when he called so have arranged for one of their salesmen to visit me next Tuesday at 9.30am.As i was half asleep i completely forgot that i will be at work next Tuesday and that i dont have a roof which i can put the panels on as it is it not technically my roof!

Just seeing the trailers a while back did it for me, Amanda Holden and an obvious Keith Lemon playing the Nan at least gave a warning to avoid that channel at that time.

I find it really scary how many people are believing this stuff. When you look back in history you often wonder, well how on earth did a nation of people believe this or that sufficiently to go to war but then you take some of the more bizarre things that really have traction out there and it's perhaps part of the explanation.

Not sure about anyone else but since the Trump era the news items have become less obviously bizarre and therefore it's becoming increasingly difficult to spot the truth vs fabrication. Just about every issue is bent to a pre-defined viewpoint. I can't imagine how this ever gets straightened out. I don't kid myself that the collective viewpoints of yesteryear were all accurate but I don't fancy future generations chances of working out what's what over the next few decades.

Do people in lincoln not have a choice? Lots of jobs in london to fill and lots of people still claiming dole money.
Its the society we have created that people feel they are too good to do any job.

Shit.

Happened to me once. Now I never travel without a spare fob battery somewhere on the bike.

Everything so far this morning:
Coffee machine playing up
Neighbour parked over our shared side access so I can get the bin out (and he's not answering his door) and it's bin day
DPD turn up with massive parcel that the wife ordered but of course she's still in bed so I have to deal with it.
My cat is a prick.

KYLIE MINEAGLE 30-09-2021 10:24 AM

Go back to bed. Sounds like one of those days.

What was telling was the comment by the factory owner. Yes salaries would go up. BUT then automation would be more viable so less jobs. The result of that would be less tax and NI paid and more unemployed. I wonder if that’s what happened ?

Oh Christ. I must be losing it, that's a big whoosh for me.
Still, it was shocking and certainly anything but funny.

Absolutely no reason given or fathomable.

Only change I can see is the current plan has a $300 deductible, the new offering has a $0 deductible.

Exemption, so absolutely free for me. Save a fortune. :p

Yeah. We should put those unemployed scroungers on a chain gang and MAKE them pick someone else’s turnips.

Its an interesting debate. I think if I didn't have a job, I had no dependencies (kids from school etc) I would pick them rather than watching daytime TV. If I got a few quid more all the better. Admittedly this would be the last resort after say 6 months of trying to find something else. Last time I was in a similar situation I took lots of temp stuff from warehouse cleaning to envelope stuffing. Maybe it was easier then as the process was made simple by the un employment exchange, to get back on the dole, when a temp contract finished ( some as short as 3 days) with a minimum of fuss.

I am not of the opinion that all unemployed people are scroungers.
