Indeed.

Would you not agree that there is a distinct difference between pushing the buttons of some of our resident dimwits on here, and outing really disgusting xenophobic and inhumane abuse on group pages on facebook.

You have a group dedicated to ex pats or immigrants of the 'right' kind. Moneyed, white, living in privileged areas and all aid for by wealth they bought with them or the company they work for. And they feel they have the freedom and absolute right to call those that have travelled across deserts and multiple countries 'scum'.

You know the context. These idiots are, almost to a man or karen, are verbal Trump supporters, and have the bare faced cheek to demonise latino immigrants while living and enjoying the benefits of being an immigrant in a latino country - and whilst making no effort whatsoever to interact with the locals here.

They can be found in Spain, Costa Rica, The Caribbean - all over.

It grinds my gears.

Things happen in threes...

My wife's car battery takes a dump. Not any old battery, but one you can only get through the dealer.

Got a nail in tyre in my car... location does not lend itself to repair so have to replace tyre. Apparently "special" tyre that is twice as expensive as the normal one. (as an aside I just drove over 300 miles doing 80 mph for much of the time... not good contemplating what could have happened!)

Took my bike in for a inexpensive Level 1 service. Guy calls me, and the gear train is worn and needs replacing, as does the chain and numinous cables that are stretched.

Turning into an expensive few days.

The likes of Sky and Amazon doing adverts showing how much they care about the environment. Virtue signalling at its worst

Old Joe Paxton 30-09-2021 07:17 PM

‘Virtue signalling’. A term coined online by the ‘alt-right’ - remember them, an attempt to whitewash neo-fascists - during the 2015/16 period reaching an apogee with those appal,I got frog avatar bio pic things. Many on Twitter proven to be Russian bot accounts.

‘Virtual signalling’, is in fact, another term used by hard right for insulting those trying to do good things or trying to convey good things or practices - usually for the good of the collective rather than individual ‘choice’. They, and their supporters, don’t like like that thing .

For want of a better place to put this...

I'm convinced that at a minimum 10% of the population are stark raving nuts!

I was in the fruit and vegetable section of the market this morning, and their was a guy in there who was opening plastic containers of blueberries and poking them or squeezing them, closing the lid than picking up another container and doing the same. It took him about five minutes of doing this to find one he liked. He then moved on to the pre-packed salads, and was search through them, pulling them out the case and checking out the contents.

Guy had nitrile disposable gloves on and was double masked. Wasn't super old either, probably younger than me... just weird personified.

Sharenting is the practice of parents publicizing content about their children on internet platforms. ... Proponents frame the practice as a natural expression of parental pride in their children and argue that critics take sharenting posts out of context.

The part I have a problem with is how they get credit and publicity for it when they show the big cheque on TV telethons / like Children In Need etc..

I'm not liking a new trend here of the transaction being done on a sort of iPad and they have big buttons for tipping 15%, 18%, 20% 22% and 25% when they give you the device to sign or approve.

The person can clearly see what tip you are adding (not that they couldn't with the old methods)... I find that a bit impersonal and feel pressured to hit the 20% button.

At least with the old signing a piece of paper you have left the building before they see what tip you left.

Feck me - 22% and 25% is getting toppy.

I suppose that doesn't resolve structural problems in the industry. Will just lead to restaurant owners reducing basic even more or not offering a wage at all.

What would be useful is information as to what restaurants and bars are paying their staff. Then people can start to boycott them.

The American Dream.

But most petrol stations aren't owned by the oil companies - they sell the oil company's products under a franchise arrangement.

That might be down to two things.

It being temporarily closed down to health issues in the past - similar to Timbo's kitchen and worktops, I imagine.

And the owner displying pictures of Man Utd on his wall a stone's throw from Selhurst park.

I am sure the jerk is tasty, though. It has been a long time since I had it. Occasionally, I had the other jerk that was next to Doneagles.

I lived at 39 WHL for more than 10 years.

I remember when Tasty Jerk was a breakfast cafe. Simon and Dom used to have whispering meetings in there.

Saying that, I remember when they sold pie and mash on the corner where the Club Shop now stands. That's going back a bit.

You get free prescriptions from the age of 60, six years before your pension.

If you were paying £600 a year, why didn’t you just get an annual prescription prepayment certificate which only costs about £108?

I'm not paying anything - if I was, I would obviously use prepayment. The £600 p/a is the cost of paying for the prescriptions separately (ie I was using a bit of hyperbole).

After all my deals expired Phone and Broadband went from £24 to £41. Did a compare website and Now TV - owned by Sky £22. Phoned Sky to see if they would match and it was sorry no we cannot offer any discounts at all. So I made the switch 48 hours ago.

One text, one email and two phone calls from $ky since all offering a ******* discount. Not matching it but within £3 but ****-em wouldn't stay with them on principle now ******* bunch of twunts

The goldfinches are safe on our shores.

Surely if your trolley was freed by a token - costing a few pence - and they give you a pound for your trolley then you are almost a quid in?

I see an opportunity there. :)

It is a pretty sad state of affairs though that out of 28 member countries, 26 could easily manage to maintain their individual identity and sovereignty, whilst it is only us lily-livered British who would be powerless to resist being subsumed into Germany. That is annoying.

Thank goodness we had the terminally weak-minded to administer our collective cyanide pill

If not, this is just another example of my observation that you have to pay for everything little thing in the UK.

I think a quid for a trolley is pretty cheap although in terms of everyday use, it has limitations. We therefore make a returnable deposit to use them while shopping. Coincidentally, not so many end up in streams and canals nowadays.

Not at all, young Hedgers. You seem to be an excellent fellow but a bit of a Jonah.

Manure occupying this werkend's most watchable time slot for those of us viewing in Australia. On a positive note, Wankstain7 isn't playing.

Yep.

I had fairly high hopes that ESPN might have got excited by our style of play under Vieira and covered Palace Leicester as an interesting game to watch. It looks like we will be missing out in Chile.

We had the Monday game, and we will have the Arsenal game. Fairs fair, I suppose.

We all speak German in our house, like a schnitzel and the Mrs makes an outstanding strudel. Bring it on.

People who pontificate ”aha this is typical of the problems that Vieira had at Nice” when we are losing, and then have nothing positive to say when we bounce back.
