It was the rule and Bryant should have know this. He could have played it safe and went to ground correctly. He wanted the touchdown by extending out. It was wrong, schoolboy error - Cowboys so easily could have won this but we needed a much more perfect game.

It's a shitty rule, but it will not be changed, otherwise you will have any bobbled, semi-dropped catch being called completed. That's why they changed it in the first place IIRR. It was too difficult to rule when a catch is not a catch (i.e. at what point is the player in full control of the ball) so they changed it to complete control throughout the manouvre, including the going to ground bit.

Possably would not have been changed had game not been in GB?
