So if the balls are found to have been tampered with, you'll honestly stand by the viewpoint that neither Belichick or Brady knew about it?

Come on now.

TeamSlack 24-01-2015 02:19 AM

I just don't get how Brady wouldn't know...that's his Everything he handles on every play. And if someone else screwed around with the footballs without his consent they would lose their job immediately in such a big game. Is someone really gonna go Lone Ranger on that?

It gets so much attention because it affects a game which decides the AFC Super Bowl participant and involves the most successful quarterback and coach and franchise of the past decade...and ultimately lays question to all other success. Just how it goes. I like Belichick and have no problem with Brady...success brings more spotlight right?

It gets so much attention because it is Belichick and the Patriots who have priors.

TeamSlack 24-01-2015 05:30 AM

and that.

If Dalton and Lewis had deflated balls = NFL community, " Good luck to them!"

I believe not that they've tampered with it, but they've done something else to cause it.

Possibly not illegal, but something that is a loophole. I would be inclined to think that would be the way Belichick thinks rather than Brady.

Filling the ball with hot air so that it passes the test and then the PSI dips dramatically in the cooler temperature is one popular theory.

Another one is that the balls were filled in a sauna, again causing the same sort of effect.

Neither are illegal, in fact, they are clever. But, you can bet the loopholes will be closed.

Pats making an announcement to media in 6 minutes.

Prays for Revis extension announcement ;)

pauldrulez 24-01-2015 08:19 PM

This is Belichick at his best.

These press conferences are my favourite by a long way.

You don't see these on ESPN or NFLN but he will happily sit there for hours on end and discuss football and its history.

A class on football science from Professor Belichick.

Benzhiyi 24-01-2015 09:01 PM

Yes, his insights are fantastic. The episodes of A Footballing Life focused on him are among the series' best.

(Which is why his history of cheating, irrespective of Deflategate, is so shocking. He simply doesn't need to do it.)

Agreed.

I do wonder why Bill Walsh was never more highly slated when saying his communication systems failed vs Parcells and the Giants, so that neither team was able to use that sort of comma system.

Belichick will always be a flawed genius, and today is the first time I've seen him mention Spygate in 8 years, so I genuinely think this has got to him. Even Spygate, I think he feels somewhat hard done by! But, that is his own fault, the league knew everyone was doing it, put out a memo to stop, and he got caught like a fool.

I wish one day he would be in the media as an analyst, just like Randy Moss is, and like his mentor Parcells is now, but I can't see it happening, and no matter what you think of his character, that is a damn shame for football fans.

yeah I really like and have a lot of respect for the guy after seeing the 90's Browns doc and the '08(?) NE season on A Football Life. Interesting stat on fumbles here...an outdoor team in the northeast...are they that good OR IS IT THE FOOTBALL...

Added to the irony (Americans don't do irony apparently) that a Brit is insulting an American over American Football is a head scratcher.
