Apparently a house, totally reformed, need "some.work" so the viewers offered 75k. The show didnt feature my hysterical laughter when the estate agent phoned me.

There's a thread there. I don't think there is a list you could make where the yanks contemporary music bands, outside of genres of folk and soul/funk outdo the output of the British.

No pussyfooting and Metal Machine Music are two of my all-time faves, but listening to them spannered definitely added a fluffy element.

I loved your place, have just watched it funnily enough, Casa Carter and the Palace postbox was a clue, although suprised you had Beatles lyrics there. It was the second best house in the programme, after the £2m castle.

There is not a single redeeming feature in it. By far the most annoying and vomit inducing ads I can recall since 'There are 3 men in my life' Shredded Wheat ad from the '70s.

The whole thing was a farce. The researchers couldn't differentiate between Euros and pounds, the house is for sale at 120,000€ (fully furnished), we were asked if we'd consider redusing it to 100k to come inline with the buyers top end of the budget. We agreed, but the furniture would not be included.

So, we were very surprised to see on the programme that their budget was £81k, nowhere near 100k€ and also to hear the presenter say the house comes furnished.

So, for the show we had reduced our asking price by 20k€.....the programme said we wanted £100k (not euros!) and then the fat cabby, after meeting my wife and saying how much they love the house, wouldn't change a thing etc etc...offers 25k less than the reduced price because he wants to install an en-suite (totally impossible as there is no plumbing upstairs and installing it would involve major reforms) and have a roof terrace (recent quote for which is 5k€)

My response was two words, one of them being "off", and howls of derisive laughter. The "counter offer" was just as insulting and I told the estate agent to tell them not to bother contacting us again unless theyre serious. I also told them what he could do with the table he was leaving the offer on.

Then we got a call from the researchers trying to say my wife had said we'd go down to 95k€ ( she didn't), I asked if they were offering 95k€..."no" came their reply "So what are we even having this conversation for?" was my response.

We have heard nothing since, and the house has been rented, almost continuously since with holiday lets and family.

This week, Mrs Maidstoneds cousin was visiting with her son. Apparently the son refuses to eat anything but cheese pizza......when cheese pizza arrived at the bar we all went to, he whined he didn't like it (this kid is 10) and left most of it.

Then demanded an ice cream on the way back to the hotel, I remarked how, if he didn't eat pizza, why should he be given an ice cream? I got "the look"..

To be fair, the programme said something like £101,695 and the exchange used in the credits was 1.18 so not much difference. Still a massive pisstake though.

Selling stuff on eBay. Why is it some people will willingly pay hundreds of pounds and ask no questions, while others bombard you with messages regarding £1 or £2 items. I'm currently selling a lot of my mum's old sh*t, and there's a bloke in Norway who has asked 8 questions over a silver spoon that he has currently bid 99p for. F*ck him-, if he wins i'll withdraw the lot and give it to a charity shop.

This kid also finds any pain I manage to inflict on myself highly amusing (knocking the tablet off the sofa and trying to stop it hitting the tiled floor by trapping it on my big toe, swallowing most of a wave and then choking it out, banging the top of my sunburnt head on a beam etc etc.

Medical breakthroughs that are passed off as news. I'm sure it is all terrific that hereditary illnesses can be eradicated in 20 years time, but this isn't traditional news. Back in the old days it would have been on Tomorrow's World rather than the lead story on the 6 O'Clock news.

This time next week nobody will be thinking about this story outside those directly interested. I want my news to tell me what is actually happening now, not do some crystal ball act to tell me what may happen in the future. Or equally badly, what happened 20 years ago (Lady Di).

Eh?

First saw Motorhead supporting The Damned at the Roundhouse in April 77. Loud, but not the sonic variables that peak form Hawkwind ('74/'75) could deliver. Gigs that are too quiet these days really annoy me. Noise restrictions for rock bands is just plain out of order. Killing Joke sounding like they are playing through a transistor radio is pointless.

I'm currently selling a lot of my mum's old sh*t, and there's a bloke in Norway who has asked 8 questions over a silver spoon that he has currently bid 99p for. F*ck him-, if he wins i'll withdraw the lot and give it to a charity shop.

Maybe he neefs to ch3ck its big enough to cover his piss stain with the old washing spoon splash excuse.

Blimey, are you hanging out with him then? Why don't you get him into a new hobby like pigeon keeping, paintballing or remote control car racing. You could also play him some of your vast music collection- he'd ******* love that mate.

As far as Maidstoned is concerned he'd happily see me die a wretched, scurvy ridden wreck, whilst he suckles on near free fruit. The ****.

True dat

You are lucky, after years of DJing I am now 48 with tinitus and two hearing aids.

I wonder if there's some genetic tolerance thing going on? Nobody in my family has ever had hearing problems. Several are musicians, who all like volume, and my dad spent years working in appallingly noisy factories before the days of ear protectors. Bugger could hear a pin drop - which wasn't helpful for me as a teen trying to sneak in after hours.

Had one days sickness in 18 years, mainly due to an unerring ability to get ill on holiday. Had about 2 hours kip last night, plan for the rest of the day is to lay on the sofa and check the bbs periodically for signings. Man flu in 36 degree heat sucks though.

Not sure, but no one else in my family had hearing problems to my knowledge.

The Neymar transfer saga. I'm sick of all the greed and arrogance (and in football generally) but this almost makes me feel sorry for Barcelona.

But not quite.

Totally agree. I remember being on holiday with extended family a few years back and a couple of Chelsea and Millwall fans (yeah I know) were all excited about him going to Barcelona. I really couldn't have given less of a shit than if Charlton had installed new MDF stanchions.

I'm slowly but surely falling out of love with football. No doubt about it, I'm finding it hard to really care anymore, even about Palace. **** Neymar and as for feeling sorry for Barca WTF!? I honestly don't even understand why you've written that, I literally have no idea, how will they possibly cope? are they finished? is it all over for them? I mean 222 million ******* euros is scant ******* consolation for the lose of Neymar.

Things that annoy me? Football. Footballers. Football fans.

Ever seen My Bloody Valentine? They were louder than Motörhead or the Ramones.

Yes. Loud, but never really convinced me. Also depends on the environment. Most heavy rock bands in the Greyhound in the 70's were effectively louder because of the nature of the space. Groundhogs, Stray, budgie and Judas Priest were all ear-splitting there. In reality, The Ramones, and even The Clash, never came across as particularly loud because the default sound of punk was always a bit treble heavy and tinny.

Of course a lot of the bands in the Greyhound went on to greater things and played across the road at the Fairfield Halls. Not a patch on the atmosphere of the pub though.

Don't do it on my account. I think we share much the same feelings about the "not so beautiful any longer" game.
