All a little too public for me ... a dream for the press guys and builds up the pre-season for them big time.

I really have a feeling for the Cowboys this season. Last time around Romo had a few weaknesses (mostly that Simpson character and I don't mean Homer!) which I certainly hope he has learnt from - to a certain extent the rest of the team and their experience ...

Exactly what I was thinking whilst reading through! The Vikings have improved their D big time and of course they have Peterson running things. They need a QB to take them that little bit further IMO.

Is their OL up to it though.

If he goes to the Vikings they are going to be giving up a lot in a trade.

I'm not sure what the rule is but I am sure there is one.... Can the Packers just keep him out of the team but in the squad for every game? That way he cant do anything about it.

He wont be good anyway he's on the Madden 09 Cover

1. They won't TRADE him to the Vikings, I'm almost certain. The only way he'd end up their is if they did the right thing and released him.

A trade is more likely to happen to an AFC team with Baltimore being a prime target. Favre has pretty much said he won't turn up if he's traded somewhere he doesn't want to go (i.e. Baltimore won't challenge therefore he won't go there.

2. I think their OL is up to it. It's not the greatest but they gave good protection last year to a QB with a weak(ish) arm. Get a good arm back there, combined with the awesome running game and they'll flourish.

3. Yes, the Pack can "bench" him all season if they want - but why waste a roster spot? It would be funny if they did have him as backup and Rodgers got injured. They'd have to throw him back in as they wouldn't risk Brohm or Flynn, surely.

saxoneagle 30-07-2008 12:55 AM

I'm also hoping Peyton doesn't recover and misses the entire season :D

pauldrulez 30-07-2008 12:58 AM

Favre has now filed for reinstatement by faxing the league.

I would love it if he was 3rd on Depth Chart behind Rodgers and Brohm. Just to prove a point.

Its his fault. No-one elses.

I just want him to piss off.

Chester 30-07-2008 01:26 AM

Good to see that you have come back Paul with a nice relaxed attitude after your holiday ready to great the world with a positive attitude and open arms :p

Strathclyde Eagle 30-07-2008 10:34 AM

Is the Vikes OL up to it? I'd say so. The thing holding them back has been Tavaris Jackson, not the line protecting him. Actually I'll go further than that, I think their OL is awesome.

pauldrulez 30-07-2008 12:32 PM

Chester,

Blame it on the PFW in Progress podcasts I have been listening to. Its a Patriots podcast but has people from other teams on there as well, i.e a Cowboys fan. They have been going on about Favre, Willie Andrews, Faulk and its all stuck in my mind especially Favre.

He stood up there crying about retiring, its his choice.

IMO, He threw that interception in the Championship game and that has been on his mind ever since then and has decided he doesnt want to go out like that.

All but two first-rounders signed up now. Amazing how the money drops from the 6th pick to the 10th...

pauldrulez 30-07-2008 05:59 PM

Joe Flacco at 18 gets more than Mayo at 10.

Must be to do with the Offensive players more valuable halfway through.

He's a QB and they always get more. However, look how much is guaranteed and how much is bonuses!

pauldrulez 30-07-2008 06:22 PM

Matt Ryans contract is an absolute con for them.

Before the draft we didnt know if he was going to go at 3 or 5. For all we knew he was going to fall down to 8 with someone trading for him at best.

Jonathan Stewart at 15 has a high contract as well.

I have signed up to the Office Pools thing as well.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Atlanta Falcons!

Lots of opportunities to wonder why the seats in the Georgia Dome are green this year I suspect.

The problem with benching him, as outlined on last night's PTI, is that it's going to give Aaron Rodgers no margin for error whatsoever - which he's going to need in his first season as an outright starter. As soon has he throws his first pick at Lambeau the fans will be booing and calling for Favre to be reinstated to the side. It's no way to blood the QB you hope will lead you for the next ten seasons.

pauldrulez 31-07-2008 01:05 PM

Is another reason why this is all Favres' fault.

Rodgers is not a Cassel. He was a 1st Round Draft Pick and a move for the future. To justify that they are moving for the future they also took Brian Brohm in this years draft as Favre was crying on the podium.

He retired, Packers moved on. Lets hope the Madden Curse falls on him should he move to the Vikings.

saxoneagle 31-07-2008 06:46 PM

He moves to the Vikings I might try to get to Lambeau for his homecoming :D

Chester 31-07-2008 07:00 PM

Rumours are he is being offered $20 million by the Packers to stay retired

pauldrulez 31-07-2008 07:03 PM

LMAO.

Bet he takes it and then starts crying rubbing his eyes with the money.

saxoneagle 01-08-2008 01:37 AM

Paul - you should read some of the stuff going on. Yes, Favre has messed the Packers around but the way you make it out is that Green Bay have been the "victim" in this. That is far from it and they've treated their greatest player with such contempt and disrespect.
