Only a little, mind.

I just don't see what the issue is.

Yes, Favre has gone back and forth every season about his retirement but it is a huge decision and why the hell should he not take his time or reserve the right to change his mind?

In my opinion, both Favre and the Packers have acted OK throughout this. Favre's downpoint was his decision change and the Pack downpoint was not doing the right thing and just releasing him - if he's not good enough for the Pack, then let him go to Minnesota. However, in the grand scheme, I think both did the right thing.

GB needed to move on, like Strath says, with Rodgers otherwise you let a number 1 pick wind out a contract and not show anyone what he can do. Favre also did the right thing. Yes, he's getting on but he can still play and although he won't win a ring in NY, he'll make plenty of friends along the way.

I'll feel honoured if I can get tickets to Jets/Pats to see the greatest ever QB line up against the best current QB.

Are you trying to re-open the greatest QB ever debate with that last comment? ;)

If you were pushing me for an answer on that you have to go on titles won, and for that reason I'd pick Joe Montana personally.

God don't give Paul more ammunition to post. He has written more in these school holidays than all of his school year combined

:lux:

I am off to Baltimore for work the week the Skins are at home to the Saints!

I feel a little detour coming on!

No, I'm not opening that... :D

Anyway, you can't compare. As you say Montana has the jewellery but Favre has ALL the records (including the INT one which he will extend this season! :D).

This sort of question is like trying to decide whether you'd rather sleep with your mother or your sister... or in East Anglia, which you should do first. ;):o

Does anyone know how you get from NY Penn station to New Brunswick - I fancy going to see the Rutgers match, too!

Most definitely should! I'm actually looking forward to living in the US now so I can go every couple of weeks :D

How dare you, I post when I'm not at work and when I am doing nothin at work la saxoneagle :D

And when I'm at college I do it most of the time anyway, the advantage of taking a laptop to 5 ICT lessons a week which bypasses the security.

saxoneagle 13-08-2008 04:11 PM

I never do anything at work although I probably should be trying to impress our new owners by doing something. However, I'm kind of hoping they make me redundant instead... then I can go to more NFL games... although I'd have to pay for them then myself. :(

pauldrulez 13-08-2008 10:34 PM

How many of you will be getting Madden 09 for PS3 with the future hall-of-famer Brett Favre on the cover. What I find hilarious is that they are going to be re-releasing the game with a Favre-Jets cover on it :D

Will the Madden Curse strike again?

Not quite rereleasing it

"We do not plan to reissue packaging but will offer a free downloadable cover in the coming days on easports.com featuring Brett Favre in a Jets uniform," EA Sports said in a statement released Thursday. "Fans can print this new cover out and insert it into the case of 'Madden NFL 09."'

Sucks ass that consoles are so expensive here and it is a ballache to ship in electronics
:(

pauldrulez 13-08-2008 11:02 PM

Ah, Read an unofficial site. As always I say the wrong thing :(

Why would anyone choose to download it apart from J-E-T-S fans? Its a lot of effort for nothing;)

Strathclyde Eagle 14-08-2008 12:55 AM

Fair question.

Am pretty sure I've seen other sites offering alternative covers in the past.

RDSdaEAGLE 14-08-2008 01:10 AM

I'm sure I heard that EA were publishing the game with an alternative cover in Minnesota. Could be wrong though :)

Anyhow, back to the NFL chit-chat - there's a clip on the NFL website about rule changes for 2008 - it strikes me how progressive the NFL is when it comes to rules. They seem intent on making the game more respectable and less contentious. Very far removed from the FA etc.

ozeagle 14-08-2008 01:31 AM

there should be excellent betting analysis on the NFL this season, with Oz and RoughNut splitting the stats by conference.

stay tuned to the betting thread for a steady stream of winners ;)

Not sure where they came from but no, I don't agree with them. The 49ers will be the worst team in the country by a looooong way, IMO followed by the Fins and the Rams.

Atlanta, Oakland and the Chiefs will all prosper early season with youngish teams and finish middle of the pack.

The Browns won't achieve what they did last year now they have a tougher schedule, ditto the Bills.

I think the Giants, Packers, Eagles and Bucs are all too high up that list. (FFS, I'm still not sure how that Giants team won a Superbowl...).

I think the top four are correct but I'd have the three AFC teams above the Cowgirls, especially if Romo decides to have a mid-season affair with a heftily-breasted blonde bimbo again... and who would blame him?

When I have more time, I'll try and do my total picks for the season.

saxoneagle 14-08-2008 08:28 PM

Yikes, I'm going through everyone's schedule and the Browns could easily go 4-12 this year...

RDSdaEAGLE 14-08-2008 08:46 PM

49ers certainly aren't helping their situation by creating competition between Smith and J.T. O'Sullivan.

I think the Raiders will do reasonably well - if they can create gaps for McFadden, he'll certainly pick up yards, he looked very strong in their first pre-season game.

Giants won't - they've had a pretty bad off-season all things considered, losing some key players. They're far too high up in that pick.

Packers will be an interesting one - really depends on how well Aaron Rogers does.

I'd like to see the Chargers do it, as I said before.

saxoneagle 14-08-2008 08:52 PM

My picks for the AFC show the Pats hosting the Colts in the Wildcard game...
