I know, Brexit = sensitive subject for me, but I still want to know why. I watched 10 mins of an episode and simple realised I was wasting electricity. I would prefer a soap opera in Welsh so I can s****** when they run out of words and throw in an English one

I bought my wife and daughter tickets for the Mrs Brown's Boys tour date in Birmingham a few years ago. I didn't attend. I'm generous like that - have done the same for Miranda in Nottingham and Adele at Wembley Stadium - for the latter I even chauffered them there and back and sat in the car waiting while they enjoyed the concert. Would have been a waste of money buying a ticket for myself, not my cup of tea.

Have they explained to you WHY they like it?

ExiledStirling 18-04-2021 11:26 AM

Times radio - Not only a mouthpiece for the Tory party but a mouthpiece for the really sleazy end of the Tory party.

Got some propagandist on just now saying that Cameron has not brought the Tory party into disrepute and down playing what he did as not being that bad as no ministers acted on the lobbying Cameron did.

Not sure I can give you a deep and meaningful answer to that - they just find it funny. Humour is a subjective thing and we all have different tastes. I mean I used to love Terry and June.

I should note that my daughter has gone off it over the past couple of years but my wife still clings on although she acknowledges that this leaves her somewhat outside the cultural zeitgeist.

I thought Miranda was OK, would never have said I was a fan but I liked it enough to watch along with them when it was on (which I refuse to do for Mrs Brown's Boys). I wonder if some men automatically resist Miranda because it's seen as primarily 'for women', which I never thought was particularly the case. I'm sure most just didn't find it funny though.

Isle of Wight 18-04-2021 11:33 AM

It’s odd. I can see Miranda, although it never made me really laugh, the odd wry smile. But Mrs BB I can’t even see what’s funny. I must have a certain gene missing or something.

Apparently it means a particularly fine or excellent example of something, or a good-looking person. Cf. Glasw. "stoater".

According to the urban dictionary the etymology seems to have something to do with Brighton:

"Really nice weed, usually high grade in the form of cheese, haze or kush. Can also be used to describe anything of exceptional quality, including people, but primarily it is a weed term."

Peng is mostly used to describe good looking people, and occasionally used for good food, or an inanimate object that looks good like a football kit.

Don't say that, he'll have a breakdown.

Oldtown Eagle 18-04-2021 07:35 PM

Across the road and around the corner from us a neighbour has a dog which I believe they keep outside. It barks at anything that moves, sometimes for half an hour or so. Morning, daytime, evening, night time. They seem totally oblivious. I have lived here 7 years and so it goes on. I have nothing against dogs except this one, oh and the owner.

It's so that you can't post a thread titled "Do you love Palace, Yes or No?"

And then change it to, "Are you a nonce?" once everyone has answered.

Blokes who think they are too "hard" and or "cool" to push a child's buggy with both hands. The one handed push at arms length wanker that I see everyday makes me cringe with embarrassment. They don't understand that being a proud father makes you much cooler and harder. Grow up.

People who have poor eyesight, people who drive a lot and want to hear a book rather than listen to music or news, people want to listen in bed with their eyes closed, people who aren't very good at reading, people who are working and doing something with their hands like cooking or painting etc. etc.

At our local play park, on more than one occasion this bloke turns up with his elasticated resistance bands and uses the kids play area to do his workout. This is in the middle of the day when the park is full of kids wanting to use the said equipment. How oblivious can you be?!

I mean use it early morning or in the evening by all means but itís just plain weird that someone thinks thatís appropriate, isnít it? Heís also huffing and panting in close proximity to kids during a pandemic. What w*****!

Iíd say something but heís built like the Hulk. :o

Smash him in the teeth with a Goblin teasmade and then drop a basket full of vipers on his head.

Didn't work with you....oh, that's right, you never were a considerate lover....always first.

Surely kneeling on that gravel is uncomfortable?

Or is that part of the self pain infliction of someone working out - no pain no gain and all that?

Probably not gravel; more likely bark cuttings.

Honestly, H, can you imagine kids falling off the equipment onto gravel?!

No grunting yet but lots of heavy blowing in and out annoying facial movements.

My top playground tip is to take a can of Mr Sheen and a cloth and spray it on any slides.

I used to do it to the slide in Lloyd's Park that goes down into the big bomb crater - and the kids would FLY down :) You might need a spotter at the bottom to catch any small ones from a bumpy landing ;)

They often use recycled tyres shredded into a kind of spongy soft tarmac as well.

It was you, was it?
That was gravel, or concrete. Not in the bunker, but by the roundabout and the swings.
