I am a Raven through and through, get used to the Ravens as we are going to be on a charge in the coming season.

So how does this Fantasy Football lark work? I may well be interested if numbers need boosting...

Swanny32 30-04-2010 12:48 AM

We do a draft by email, then you choose your strongest team each week based on the matchups each player has, you go head to head against another person, team with the highest score wins. Throughout the season you can trade with other players or pick up players on the free agency list.

The stat tracker is fantastic, see every game in text form play by play and it tallies your score as the games progress. It's pure genius!

Art Model's Franchise you mean :p

Surely you should be a Colts fan? ;)

I'm guessing that we'll have the same 16 from last years draft.

So, another 4 or 8 or 16 will be needed as we split the draft into 2 leagues this year I think. And it sounds like we'll have more than enough interest for 8 more.

So, 2 separate drafts, Ben is the best at explaining this and running the draft, so God forbid whoever runs the 2nd league as you've got something to live up to :p

I see that the NFL draft being on prime time TV on the Thursday has caused a lot of questions from NBA and NHL. Particularly the NBA it seems ...

pauldrulez 30-04-2010 10:09 AM

It improved the ratings of it.

I did enjoy it this year. Maybe it was because we still wasn't entirely sure if the Rams would stay at #1.

It seemed like it went quicker and Round 2 was more like Round 1 as it was just as exciting.

No offense to our friend, AddiscombeEagle, but Bill screwed up Ozzie Newsome and the Ravens draft a couple of times with great skill. Trading to the Cowboys to keep Bryant out of the AFC. Then trading up to beat the Ravens to Gronkowski and beating them to Hernandez was perfect.

Swanny32 30-04-2010 10:16 AM

I'll put my name forward for commish of the second league if Ben needs a hand, I've run Xbox leagues etc so should be pretty easy.

pauldrulez 30-04-2010 10:42 AM

If you want, then i've got no problem with that.

I'm happy to help you sort out some parts as I have experience running a farcical league 2 years ago that saxoneagle won (I was runner-up, Jazman was miles back like a tool) ;)

Give it until mid-June before we start it up properly.

I've got a feeling I know who the #1 pick overall is going to be this year.

I beg to differ, if Ardeo get's first pick it could be anyone although one of the favourites if he does get first selection would have to be his love child David Hawthorne, I had him last season and he's immense, ever since I mentioned him Tom has had some sort of infatuation with him.

Last year I needed more, I was hooked on fantasy football, it was the first thing I checked every morning when I woke up, even before I said good morning to the missus! I'd spend on average, I reckon, around 5-6 hours a day looking through the list of free agents, the matchup ratings, scouting other teams, reading reports on how well players did in the previous weekends games, juggling my team about, proposing trades, the list really is endless. I'm going to need a bigger fix in this coming season, I would imagine that being commish probably won't offer me that extra buzz I need as after the draft and initial setup is done there won't be a great deal more to do as it should all take care of itself. I think I'm going to mix it with the big boys, the real pro's and try my hand at competing with fellow Eagles fans over on the official Philly forum, some nice blokes on there and I would imagine some very stiff opposition. They don't use Yahoo either so it gives me something else to do with my time, learning how to use another system.

One thing I do need to do this coming season is bag myself a very cheap laptop from somewhere, that way I can stream Eagles games to my TV through my Toshiba laptop and have the stat tracker up on the cheap laptop, nothing better than watching your score tally up and getting all the info on the other games, "P.Manning pass to R.Wayne for 40 yard TD" +10! Woooooooo!!!!! "D.Hawthorne solo tackle" +1!! Woooooooooooo

I'd like to re-extend my pre-season dumbass of the year award to Santonio Holmes.

Thrown off a flight for being disorderly.

He'll be meeting Goodell again in the near future.

Swanny32 30-04-2010 09:14 PM

Embarrasing to say he's a buckeye.

jazman 30-04-2010 09:19 PM

Him and Roethlisberger are going to take some beating.
