Ridiculous odds for those teams with what they have.

Especially when you see the Foreskins at 25-1. Is there something going on there for next season to justify them being so fancied above some of those other teams?

pauldrulez 15-02-2010 07:56 PM

Shanahan would be my only guess there.

Any ideas where he'll be off to?

Still rumblings going around about Vick coming to Carolina....I guess it's possible that the Panthers will get in a big name having freed up Peppers' salary.

New England :)

But I doubt it though. We can't afford both Peppers and Wilfork.

Kraft wont spend the money he has.

OK then ask the question (as they did on debate friday) which one you'd rather? Not sure but probably Wilfork.

pauldrulez 15-02-2010 08:12 PM

Wilfork.

A 3-4 Defense needs a beast of a Nose Tackle.

And Wilfork is the best in the game in that position.

If however, we go to the 4-3 more next year (since we transitioned to the 34/43 switch-up last year), i'd say Peppers. As I think Brace and Wright could be the 2 DTs with Pryor as a backup.

But, I'd rather pay Wilfork the money than Peppers.

I wouldn't consider us one of the favourites with the road trips that we have facing us next season that's for sure ...

Very interested what we plan to do in the post season. A few positions we need to strengthen ... just like any other team ...

peagle 15-02-2010 10:28 PM

After putting so much effort into trying to get that 3-4 to work I think it would be stupid to go 4-3. If we can get it working properly for this season, especially with Wilfork it should be a powerful defence (depending on personnel change obviously!)

I've just realised that I'm in the US for the draft.

And that my GF is taking me to NY for my birthday.

Can I unsuspectingly arrange these coincidental events so that they may overlap.

I might take my kit and dress up for a laugh. See how many reactions I can get.

Does anyone know when the fixtures list comes out? I've looked at nfl.com for the 2010 pre season schedule and can't find anything.

saxoneagle 17-02-2010 10:37 AM

Fixtures usually announced around the draft, probably late March, I think.

I personally think that the 3-4 is not working anyway.

No pass-rush means our Corners who aren't hideous, were being beaten anyway.

I've come around and decided we could consider letting Wilfork go via trade if we franchise him.

Mayo would be a much better player in a 4-3. Guyton would be a very good "Will" Linebacker and someone else (i'm praying for Dansby, but not happening) could play the Sam or even move Mayo out there.

Banta-Cain and Burgess are very good Hybrid LB's out of the Nickel when we went to 4-man front last year. Go after Peppers. He wants out and Carolina don't want to retain him. He would be wasted in a 3-4 IMO and sticking him on the end would allow us to rush the passer effectively and help out a half-decent Secondary with Darius Butler who I think will be a star in 2 years. (And knowing Bill, he'll let him go) :D

If you do, please boo every time Deion Sanders interviews one of the players.

It's not right that someone who represents a lot of the players pumps it up before and during the draft.

Conflict of interest.

On to more positive Prime stuff.

ADRIAN WHO?

Yup. It's frustrating.

pauldrulez 17-02-2010 12:40 PM

Tis true, everyone knows who is playing who.

Why not declare it in a show this week.

A week would have past to let the media focus on the Superbowl.

Then, start the Franchise Tag/Re-signing for 2 weeks with a show unveiling the schedule.

saxoneagle 17-02-2010 01:08 PM

The football fixtures don't get announced here until, what, June? Why should NFL do it straight after one season ends?

saxoneagle 17-02-2010 01:09 PM

You don't need to know 6 months in advance!

So that we English have our chances to book flights.

Don't they know our importance to their game? The bastards.

When you hitting South Park Country?

Aren't there usually people on certain sites who, very early doors, kind of predict at least the teams' matchups pretty accurately, based on recent seasons? I seem to remember this last year and they were pretty spot on, although obviously the dates are not known.

saxoneagle 17-02-2010 01:27 PM

No idea - return to US in August but will maybe be around Texas until my green card is sorted, depending on whether we need the money. If we need the money, the missus will have to work so Colorado will arrive pretty quickly for her :D

You can get cheap flights later on, too ;)
