When I worked as a shop porter at Shinners yonks ago we would sometimes enquire of one another what were the plans for luncheon by asking "wotcher doin' dinner 'ime?" The 't' used to fall away quite easily.

Hedgehog 22-11-2018 08:59 PM

The increasing use of the term ďMade upĒ when you are pleased or happy for someone. I know it is well intentioned and is a good thing, but it just sounds like trying too hard to be cool to me.

I believe it is, or was, a Northern England thing that seems to be drifting south.

Then again, this from someone who used the term ďmy badĒ! Stones in glass houses comes to mind...

Black Friday.

Some sports shops are sending me multiple emails per day about their offers. Do they think we have short-term memory loss?

andyocpfc 23-11-2018 12:03 AM

Is anything actually cheaper than at other numerous sale times of the year?

I bought a fire stick for £25 yesterday on a supposed Black Friday deal but thatís what I thought they were anyway, pretty much.

I think the out of sale time itís increased and bought down to normal level come BF and the spring/Easter/summer/autumn/January sales etc.

I think they are definitely more than 25 normally Andy.

Oh really, okay maybe I do have a bargain then. Anyhow, now have donkey on yet another TV on numerous apps, just in case.

I have an Apple watch, and rarely use it apart from the occasional weekend. Not saying it's not good though. Have you looked on Hotukdeals?

I also bought another dash cam as mine broke earlier in the year and picked one up for £24 with decent reviews, via UKHD.

Sharkba1t 23-11-2018 01:00 PM

People (usually women) who only seem to realise they need their train ticket at the point of reaching the ticket barrier, then hold the queue up whilst rummaging through their bag(s).

Same price I paid for another one a couple of months ago. I imagine most of these things are exactly what you suggest, up the price for the relevant period inbetween various sales. There was a small study on a range of goods from last year, something like 80% were at or below the Black Friday price within another 6 month period.

Oops, I have to backtrack now.

Just been sent a 50% off sports shoes link by one of the more specialist sports shops and it included an Adidas pair son wants/needs!

They only had 3 sizes available, so my guess is theyíre clearing out the end of some lines. Luckily, his size was one of them.

It's both, as said annoy is too low on the anger scale, this is top upset. How do people think this is acceptable. No wonder you end up with immigrants not engaging if they are treated like this. I want to tell the Syrian lad and his parents that we are not all like that. **** I am pissed off.

We went to Jordan recently. There were refugee kids everywhere fleeing the fighting. Mrs E wanted to adopt one but i'd scooped up most of the dead sea and thought we'd be over our baggage allowance.

Itís the rozzers he should be worried about, not Twitter

I know Iím a woolly liberal but this kid (the bully) clearly needs help.

Abusing and bullying him on line is merely perpetuating the issue.

Yep, seeing adults on Twitter threatening to kick the shit out of a school kid, donít sit right with me.

I think social media is all about playing to the gallery... trying to get more likes and retweetís.

If the guy above you calls the bully a prick (which he is), the next person tries to trump it... before you know it, you have adults posting his address and people retweeting it, telling people to burn his house down with his family in it.

We seem to live in age where people go to the extremes pretty quick.

But isn't that a first reaction that you get when you see something as upsetting as this. You want to hit back. In reality Wolf is right, but the virtual word makes everyone a big man. What they are doing is as bad as what happened to that kid but I bet they cant see that :(

Bring back the dial up bulletin board or Prestel, user groups and email lists (listserv). Ahhhh, those were the days. When online gaming meant you dialled up a number, your modem squeaked at another and you were faced with just a black screen and maybe a dot or chevron.

Although a wonderful gesture and achievement, I'm not sure what throwing money at the situation does in this case?

Maybe allow the kid and his family to move to a different area to start a new life? I don't know.

Betting companies that wont give you loads of free bets, even when you promise to lose all your money to them, never withdraw and match bet any winnings away into the betfair account. Could have both got rich, but no. Mr Anal cant see obvious sense.

People on faceache who are dismissing this with "This is just news because he's Syrian. White kids get bullied everyday and we never hear about it".

A few examples "Immigrants have been grooming and raping our kids for years and years and it’s swept under the carpet. Syrian kid takes a little slap and the whole country knows about it. Doesn’t make it right. Just pisses me off."

"Everything is an ism nowadays white kids yellow ones brown ones pink ones all get bullied . The point in the first statement is the amount of press it was given because of them being Syrian ..... fact I know loads of white kids that are bullied by other nationalities at school who definitely play on the we are untouchable because if you retaliate it’s an ism or an ist ..... but I see no mass media coverage of that"

TopKnot 29-11-2018 02:11 PM

apparently Timmy Yaxley-Bumblesquat has now posted a video on FB defending the bully and accusing the Syrian kid of beating up a girl - which was immediately called out as a lie by the mother of the girl. Stay classy Timmy.

(this probably needs its own thread now?)

Although shameful and disgusting why is this boy and family plight any more newsworthy than the bullying that goes on all over the UK? The school has a duty of care and shoukd be stamping on it and ridding itself of this vile person. But all bullies are vile. The family of the bully should also be investigated. The boy behaves like that for a reason.....I think but then again he may just be a nasty individual

So ... you think he should not be charged with assault?

By "do gooders" you mean "People that don't want to see any child bullied"?

I don't think it worthy of national news but assault is assault. So he deserves to be dealt with as a criminal.

Or, person filmed committing assault questioned by police over assault (which he was filmed committing)

1. People in a doctorís waiting room who feel the need to chit chat. Leave me alone!

2. Being put in doctorís examination room and left there for 45 minutes.

3. Doctor gracing you with 5 minutes of his valuable time before dismissing you.

People who smoke in designated non smoking areas ie at bus stops and tram stops. Wankers.

Travelling through Lewisham station when you’re not changing. If they want to untangle some tracks, do it here.

Constipation

Especially when you’re used to opening your bowels 2/3 times a day

Had a three hour op under local anaesthetic five weeks ago...

The consultant surgeon who operated didnít say a word to me in three hours. (Wanker)

The nurses and the anaestheatist were great though.

Ps. Itís not all about you Workshop.:D

Didnít give you fíkin constipation though did it !

Wow, 3 hours wide awake. Was that a choice ?

Iíd never had a general before and was very anxious about it but as you say, the anaesthetic and his assistant were great. I saw the surgeon on my way down to theatre and he was in his suit. We had a quick chat and he said Iíll see you when youíre asleep. All a bit surreal. Nice that you donít see the op theatre when you have a general but different when youíre lying there awake ! Not sure I could stay calm just lying there for 3 hours.

Years ago I had an op on my Ďold boyí. I split it having sex and every time after that I bled for England. Anyhow, I was under the impression I was having a local and a screen put up across my stomach so I couldnít see what was happening. When I got there the surgeon told me he would be doing a general to which confused me so I asked why. He said if you saw me coming towards your chap with a scalpel youíd either punch me or run a mile. It was as much for their sake as it was for mine. Op went well though and no issues since, thank fook. Awful looking down and seeing a pool of blood afterwards.

Apparently this surgeon has a reputation... brilliant but shocking bedside manner. (Twat)

It was whatís called an axial block... not my choice, numbs the arm from the shoulder down, but I was home the same day. Open hand palmar fasciectomy. Still canít make a fist and bloody sore but able to lounge about watching the tele.

Need to get it sorted for some golf though.
