Clock management was awful. Zorn needs to learn pretty quick to get Campbell moving. Why they weren't into no-huddle with 4 mins and 9 points down I don't know. Criminal.

:lux: :lux:

My cable isnt working. Cheers for that BVI cable ffs

My god I love living here sometimes

saxoneagle 05-09-2008 03:17 AM

Mine kept coming and going. Joys of island life, Chester!

Chester 05-09-2008 03:23 AM

Coming and going i could accept. Nada is a pain in the balls. Island life indeed

jlmatthews 05-09-2008 04:00 AM

Tis the price one pays for living in paradise. Come live where you get hot humid summers... bone chilling winters... and about a week and a half of nice weather in between... and the cable works great. Cars on the other hand :hmph:

Yes, wow, that hit on the rookie defensive player for the Skins was mighty ... I bet he's still seeing stars now!

Only managed to stay awake for the first quarter, doesn't sound like the rest of the game was that good from the report ...

Worse than the Fins, even. :o

Good time to say that, before we've even taken the field in anger. :D

And TV networks wonder why people still download from torrent sites. It is because of junk like this.

nookiebear 05-09-2008 09:37 AM

Well. What can I say

The first 28 minutes were the worst I've ever seen from any team, to be honest. The SKins were utterly clueless on both sides of the ball. When the only first down you've got is from a roughing the punter play for most of the half you know something is wrong.

I think after Cartwright returned the kick off over the halfway line, though, things improved. Portis looked good but Zorn didn't seem to have faith in his own bloody passing offense.

Second half, I really thought the Giants were poor as well. They were there for the taking, they were lucky they were up against a struggling offense.

Some of Zorn's play-calling was simply odd.

How many times did the Skins just run it on first and second down, leaving Campbell with a third and long? It was almost as if Zorn didn't have faith in Campbell.

Stupid penalties, woeful clock management, bad playcalling - welcome to the NFL, Mr Zorn, you'd better get up to speed quick

With the Saints next week and visits to Philly and Dallas in the first six games, it's not going to be pretty at this rate.

Speaking of odd play-calling, what's Mike Mularkey up to these days?

This is always one of the tightest divisions in the NFL and all you know for sure is that these four are gonna beat up on each other!

If you can come out of the East with a 4-2 record against your divisional rivals, then you've done well. By being that way as well, they are gonna knock one of those other teams out of the play-offs - that's how tough this division is.

The Dallas Cowboys are just talented from bottom to top. There's no doubt they are the most talented team in the NFL, they've got 14 Pro Bowlers there and guys know that the clock is ticking, that is what the owners have put good money on - that's why they have given big contracts to the likes of T.O and their running backs.

They have picked up some good complimentary players as well like Adam 'Pacman' Jones, who's a quality back and means they can move Anthony Henry to safety and in a passing situation sit Roy Williams down, who is great against the run but has struggled against the pass.

All the components are there for Dallas to get it done. It's just about keeping focused and making sure nobody blows it.

Couldn't agree more with the man that is Kevin Cadle :p

Strathclyde Eagle 05-09-2008 12:32 PM

How many times did he say, "16 to 7 in our ballgame" last night? Ten, fifteen times?

nookiebear 05-09-2008 12:35 PM

I like it when he does that :D

The rookie made up for it later with a good stop on Jacobs. He learnt his lesson though and took him from the side and around the ankle, not full on!!!

And yes, the game was dull and I only watched it to cheer on my fantasy players!

Strathclyde Eagle 05-09-2008 12:38 PM

Ben, empty your PMs.

Good summary. At the end, with 4 minutes left, they were still handing off to Portis, needing two scores. I know he is their best player but in a situation like that you need to use the best player for the situation - and that was Campbell with Randel-El and Moss. They didn't have a clue.

I thought Eli actually looked like a Superbowl winning QB in the first half, too. He was nearly picked off but that was because Toomer stopped running.

The second half, with a lead, he looked more defensive (as you expect) and as a result he threw a load of trash. He was the Eli of September 2007 again rather than the Eli of January 2008.

nookiebear 05-09-2008 12:40 PM

He's no rookie - it was Landry, he's in his second season

I stand corrected!

saxoneagle 05-09-2008 12:54 PM

And you will all be pleased to hear - Brady is NOT on the injury report for the first time in about 56 weeks... :D
