It’s probably moving him about the order that contributed to his rank bad run in red ball cricket.

Well done to YJB but it can’t hide what has been another colostomy bag of an innings from England.

All part of the fun. I remember Stuart McGill getting an almighty shallacking before the 4th day at TB in 2005, while they were warming up. Can’t remember which one of his team mates - I seem to recall Langer or the other opener at the time - properly lost his shit. Tremendous start to a fabulous day that was :D

Very underrated player McGill who was unlucky to be playing for Australia with such good competition.

Yep, poor bloke was up against Warnie all his career. Shame as he would walk into any other team, he was very good.

I've got a proper stiff shoulder but a really good hot shower in the morning & I'll be good to go... :p

Why is it we have struggled to find such decent openers for a good few years now. Is it simply that young lads don't really want to be slow and steady Innings builders and would rather come in as the sort of number 3 / 4 / 5 KP types and that has left us with a lack of talent at the opening two positions?

Wolfnipplechips 07-01-2022 08:03 PM

Just seen Wood’s dismissal. Ridiculous from the third umpire. Clattenburg eat your heart out.

No. It’s simply the wickets in county cricket are dreadful result orientated Green seamers so a quick 40 is the best most can hope for.

Which is why it’s nuts to have jettisoned Burns.

Partly that. The rewards are in the short games too.

Practical issues as well. In the County game, so many of the matvhes are now played in damp gloomy months either end of the summer. Or what counts as one in England. How do you practice amd develop the art in those conditions?

Jordan's Jacket 07-01-2022 08:09 PM

Academies are not helping. Less on technique more on range of shots. The counties understand that money is made from short form of Cricket and coaching youngsters accordingly

Hameed, Crawley and Buttler are three in particular that just aren't up to it. Unless some second innings miracle happens it should be the end of Buttler permanently and Hameed/Crawley for at least the foreseable. I know he had a bad run of form to say the least, but Sibley is the most like a test opener I've seen from England since Cook. Just think he's the one that i'd stick with as imo the biggest issue with him is a mental one not technical, and if he can get the proper psychological support imo he could make an excellent opening bat.

Worksop Palace 08-01-2022 12:10 AM

Lol that’s got to be the worst review in test cricket. Since the last bad one anyway

Worksop Palace 08-01-2022 12:11 AM

Leach. Fvck me

KYLIE MINEAGLE 08-01-2022 12:11 AM

Leach out for 10.

Sibley ? Are you serious ?

Worksop Palace 08-01-2022 12:17 AM

How bad has Broad become with the bat when he’s behind Leach in the order.

Embarrassing

Never. Jesus wept. Another hopelessly out of his depth opener at this level. Zero technique. I’d rather have Burns. That’s how bad he is :)

Goodness me, Bairstow really does look chunky doesn't he
