Steven both on and off the show has turned into a pompous prick.

There is also strong bias against teams. i.e Eagles, Broncos, Patriots.

The final straw is slating Belichick for taking McCourty because he is 5'11. He then rattles off names of big WRs in the East and names Santonio Holmes. Yep, huge WR. At the same height of 5'11. If you are going to slate a pick, get your facts right.

To be fair to Paul, they have changed a bit this season. They had a think during the off season if they were going to continue doing the show, decided they would and that they would try and get more recognition. Think it means they are taking it a little more seriously and I get the feeling its Steven pushing Jeff a bit more. Definitely isn't quite as fun as it was last year. Still enjoyable and they generally know their stuff, although I do find it a bit strange when they are trying to name a random 3rd WR from some team that I can name them but they have to look it up.

Find their podcast a good listen to still, as much for their diversions onto other topics as their NFL knowledge.

I get the distinct impression that Jeff has been having a few problems. Don't know what but you get that feeling without knowing any more than that ..

pauldrulez 03-05-2010 10:56 PM

Yeah, I tend to agree with you both.

I don't really think Jeff has changed, but Steven has.

I've tweeted him twice since they started and got sarky replies.

First time, I said something like: "Stephen, what are your thoughts on the rumors about Barber being traded"

And got a reply of "My name is Steven, not Stephen."

Then I tweeted after the 2nd round: "The Raiders are drafting sensibly, shame the Jags are drafting JAGS again."

I then got: "SM: I haven't said anything about the Raiders draft, didn't say it was bad"

I thought, **** you then.

jazman 03-05-2010 11:22 PM

Steven said the same to me when I chatted to him on FB. He was pleasent enough but then again I am a fellow Cowboy ... and you piss people off on here Paul so I suppose you just went and did it again ... ;)

pauldrulez 03-05-2010 11:35 PM

True dat.

But, in the 2 things that I tweeted, do either of those things warrant a reaction like that?

jazman 03-05-2010 11:40 PM

From you, yes ... ;)

pauldrulez 04-05-2010 12:04 AM

Meh, the guys a douche.

This'll be their last season.

It'll become too commercialised.

Feel sorry for Jeff. He used to be the stats guy on the show, now SteVen is trying to take it over from him.

Swanny32 04-05-2010 01:09 AM

I must be honest I never really found it as funny as some people made it out to be on here but did find it a good listen, it's a shame if what you guys are saying turns out to be the truth as they do seem to have a good following. Won't bother me that much though as I think I have listened to about 2 of their shows and that was about week 4 or 5 of last season. I very rarely listen to music/podcasts/radio etc as I never really go on public transport which is the only time I'd get to listen.

Swanny32 04-05-2010 01:14 AM

Anywho, Darren Sharper has signed a new 1 year contract with the Saints after speaking to a couple of teams.

Shaun Payton is being investigated after allegations that he has been steeling Vicidin from the Saints training facility.

Cowboys star draft pick Dez Bryant, in his first practise, twists his ankle.

As if never being embraced by the city that made you a star wasn't enough, now McNabb can't even get respect from douchebag, 16 year old pop singers with annoying hair.

At Saturday night's White House Correspondents Dinner, where Barack Obama roasts members of the media, McNabb became a punchline himself, as he was one of many celebrities in attendance. Another? Pop singer/teenie boppin heart throb, Justin Bieber.

According to the Washington Post, McNabb asked Beiber for an autograph to give to his 6 year old daughter. Bieber, who was on his way to the mens room, told McNabb to wait until he was finished.

*shakes head*

McNabb waited.

Oh the emasculation.

Rumor has it that Five tossed a pen to Bieber for him to sign with, but it landed at his feet.

I love a good podcast ... I have a list of ones that I download religiously. Walk to work and lunchbreak are ideal as well as when I am cooking at home ...

I think to be honest Paul is making it out to be a little more than he should be. Steve and Jeff are two guys who have made a podcast for a while. It should be enjoyed for what it is ... at the end of the day, if you don't like it don't download it ...

Yea Paul does seem to be making a bit more out of it.

Anyone else help them out and email the NFL guy at sky?

I did and forwarded on my email to them and the reply I got. No email thanking me for the trouble or even much of a general thanks on the podcast.

Just stuff like that destroys the image of it being a friendly show and makes you think they are just doing it to try and get something out of it. NFL sky bloke emailed me back pretty quickly (with what I presume was a pretty standardised reply).

My old boss has a podcast? :D

Not sure why, but in my experience Steven/Stephens are quite sensitive about having their name spelt correctly.

I did that for them.

As I said, I don't mind them making some money out of it, but don't have an attitude with those who are trying to help you and are asking questions.

Swanny32 04-05-2010 07:35 PM

What were they asking people to do?

pauldrulez 04-05-2010 08:06 PM

Pretty much, to email Sky and to try and get them on more often as far as I can remember.

Interesting reading about the Cowboys three day rookie minicamp. Even though new WR Bryant twisted an ankle he has impressed so far, as far as much to say that Crayton has said that he would understand if the Cowboys traded him. Only downside to hear that Akwasi hasn't participated as he has had shoulder surgery. Lee and Lissemore have also impressed as have a number of free agents that are onboard at the moment; Titus Ryan, Lorenzo Washington, Mike Tepper and Scott Sicko .....

I hope Scott Sicko makes it .. what a name for a TE ... :o

pauldrulez 04-05-2010 10:38 PM

Patriots had a 2 day minicamp Fri and Sat.

Gronkowski impressed in the odd blocking drills they did and looked like a presence in the passing game from Robinson.

One of our 5 tryout guys has made the Training Camp Roster. And he's a WR out of Brown. Good Luck to him, he's got a shot anyway.

Erm, it's tough to say much about the others. McCourty looked decent.

You can't really tell about Spikes, Cunningham and the 6th round onwards picks as it was all non-contact

My middle name is Stephen, but I can't say I really give a shit.

Although everyone knows that 'Stevens' tend to be incredibly vulgar and common in comparison to us.

Strathclyde Eagle 05-05-2010 08:10 PM

What the Eagles will be wearing for their first home game of the year. Pretty nice I'd say.
