If anyone showed no class over the past few months it was the 72 Dolphins. What a sad bitter pathetic bunch. Instead of taking pleasure in this amazing Patriots team they behaved like children, openly rooting against them, making condescending remarks when it looked like the Pats would be perfect, hiding behind the Spygate crap. We lost a Super Bowl in the last few seconds; it's nothing to be ashamed of. |
Not all of them. Some, like Mercury Morris, yes, others no. Can't remember names off the top of my head but some certainly said they'd congratulate the Patriots if they went unbeaten. Shula was definitely one of them.

Still I take your point SE--I shouldn't tar everyone with the same brush |
At least I won't have to feel like a glory hunter anymore :sob:
Always look on the bright side, Kent won the 20-20 and the Redsox won the World Series :p |

On a "moving on from horror defeat" note, I notice that NE's schedule next year is tough involving away games at SD, Seattle and Indy, amongst others...

The fixtures come out some time in March, I think, but the opponents are decided once the fixtures are complete for the prior season.
It's done rotationally so in theory the teams play each other more often. The format is: Each team plays the other three teams in its division twice: once at home, and once on the road (six games). Each team plays the four teams from another division within its own conference once on a rotating three-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games). Each team plays the four teams from a division in the other conference once on a rotating four-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games). Each team plays once against the other teams in its conference that finished in the same place in their own divisions as themselves, not counting the division they were already scheduled to play: one at home, one on the road (two games). I think, for the Giants, even though they won the Superbowl, they will have an easier schedule than the Cowgirls who'll have to play Green Bay, Tampa and Seattle while the Giants get Vikings, Panthers and Cardinals! |
I see they are also proposing wildcard changes, whereby the 4 non-bye teams are ranked according to record, not automatically giving the divisional winners homefield.
For this year, the AFC games would've been the same under a changed system. In the NFC however, the Giants would've been 4th seed instead of 5th seed and would've played Tampa at home rather than on the road. So not sure what difference this new change would make apart from making end of season games a bit more competitive - Tampa wouldn't have rested up as much if they'd known (ended with 2 defeats after resting starters...) they needed one more win for a home game v an away game. |
