LB Reggie Torbor (Giants) also added now. :)

Samuel goes to the Eagles on a 6 yr Contract.
Pats expected to keep Bruschi and possibly Seau. Wonder if they will trade any draft picks to replace Samuel or will they now negotiate with Randall Gay. Also Moss and a few other WRs need to be re-signed as they are now in Free Agency.
Got a feeling Moss will stay but not sure about Gay,Seau etc

saxoneagle 01-03-2008 01:16 AM

Hope the Eagles suck d*ck again next year...

Ty Law's available again. Just putting it out there.

Ben - you missed off the best thing, that Cleo Lemon's no longer a Dolphin. :lux:

JAT, I hope that the Pats have a masterplan for next season. Losing Samuel, Stallworth and now Randall Gay. Possibly Randy Moss and Junior Seau depending on his injury as well. The Pats may struggle next year as they do not have a cornerback that could start. There are no others of Pats class in the free agent market that I know of. If Moss goes then Welker is the #1 wide receiver which would please a few fans.

Strathclyde Eagle 02-03-2008 10:28 PM

The Pats have put Troy Brown in as a DB in nickel situations before and been successful. I'm sure they'll get it covered.

RDSdaEAGLE 02-03-2008 10:34 PM

I guess with the planned changes to the NFL branding, most team's will bring out new jersey's for next season?

I'm thinking of getting a San Diego jersey but don't want to commit until I know what's happening! :D

pauldrulez 03-03-2008 10:14 PM

Moss has signed 3 year deal with the Patriots for $27m.

Roethlisberger has joined $100 million club with an 8 year contract worth $102m with the Steelers.

I can 100% guarantee you that San Diego will not bring out a new jersey.

A few teams may make some minor changes I reckon, but no-one will go at all extreme.

Surely Troy Brown isn't still playing for Pats btw. He was drafted in 1993! He was actually quite proficient on D (one game I saw, ABC listed him as a DB not a WR) but he is surely too old now.

elliott 04-03-2008 12:18 AM

Has Yeremiah Bell been re-signed too? Always a good sign. I really like him.

Benzhiyi 04-03-2008 12:50 PM

Yes, one year deal. Really pleased with that.

Phew, was hoping we'd have kept at least one of Gay or Samuel... and with Eugene on the way too.

Maybe we'll keep the high draft pick and choose a CB.

Favre set to announce his retirement.

Congratulations on a fantastic career Mr Favre. One of the all time greats who showed that he still had something up until the end

saxoneagle 04-03-2008 08:10 PM

Should put Favre in the HoF NOW! No need to wait for a silly nomination and vote procedure. Do it NOW while he is still the talk of the town, not 10 years down the road...

Benzhiyi 04-03-2008 08:15 PM

The HoF rules are very strict, and there's no danger if him being forgotten six years down the road. He's up there with Marino, Montana, etc as one of the best ever.

Yes, I never said he'd be forgotten, far from it. I just think that for someone who holds the three highest profile records (not forgetting the INT one :D) in the highest profile sport in America to have to wait to go into the HoF is stupid.

why not honour him properly now?

A pleasure to watch this year - very consistent and yet humble (from what I have heard from him).

jlmatthews 05-03-2008 01:15 AM

It was time for him to go. Congrats on a great career Favre. You will now never beat the Bears again :p

Because it's been the same for every legend and record breaker in the NFL. They're not going to change the rules now for one player, no matter how glittering his career has been.

Strathclyde Eagle 06-03-2008 01:26 AM

Yep, and the rule is really there because there isn't any coming back after five years. You could be gone for one or two years and come back, but after five it really isn't happening.
