Yup, its far from a clear cut situation. Which is part of the reason why Goddell has left it to the parties to settle thus far

pauldrulez 01-08-2008 10:29 AM

Looking back, his agent said that the Packers didnt make a major effort to get him to stay.

He then chose to retire and has spent 3 months since then away from the team. Aaron Rodgers has competed in every drill, every camp and taken the snaps. How would you feel if Favre walked back in and said "I didnt feel like doing Camp, I'll take over now".

Maybe the Packers will wait until after their first match which coincidentally is against Minnesota before trading him to them.

What would the Packers want if they traded to Vikings though?

1st round in 09 and 10 as well as a 2nd and 4th in 09. It would be a high price to pay.

Hall Of Fame game is on Sky on Monday morning (1am)

Come on you Skins! :)

The thing is both teams made their beds and now have to lie in it. Green Bay had to expect that Favre would come back out of retirement as he has seemingly done every year since 1987. The guy cant sit still for 2 minutes let alone retire.

However, by immediately stating that Rogers would be the starter with no back up plan of what they would do should Favre come out of retirement they screwed themselves over.

Neither side has come out of it looking particularly great.

There is also no way anyone would give 2 first round and a second round pick for him. Best Green Bay will get is maybe a couple of 2nd round picks and to take on some of his salary

pauldrulez 01-08-2008 06:10 PM

Exactly.

No-one will pay this price. Should the Packers ask for something as high as that then Favre will sit on the sideline.

There is no way back at the Packers now. Rodgers and Brohm are their Start and Backup.

Redskins win the most pointless pre-season game of all time.

I have no idea why I attempted to stay up :D

Went downhill for the Colts the moment Vinatieri tried the on-side recover from the very first kickoff

nookiebear 06-08-2008 01:12 PM

Go Skins!

Wasn't pointless for new Skins head coach Zorn - he got to try out his new West Coast playbook early doors and I enjoyed watching the rookies, especially QB Colt Brennan

It's more high profile than any other pre-season game so it was good for him to get used to a bit of hype (although it's nothing compared to how it'll be for the opening game of the season at New York)

pauldrulez 07-08-2008 12:46 AM

I meant pointless for me as I didnt care about either team unless Manning was going to break his leg which unfortunately didnt happen as he didnt play.

Favre to Bucs or Jets looking most likely now, Brady vs Favre twice a year.

Quick question... Most Yards and TDs next year.
Rashard Mendenhall or Darren McFadden?

jlmatthews 07-08-2008 12:52 AM

McFadden for me. Mendenhall was a one year wonder at Illinois.

I want Favre to get traded to the Bucs... who will in return trade him to Minnesota. I would laugh my ass off!!

i read on nfl.com,that green bay have "inserted" a clause into the trade that sais if Favre is traded to the vikings, the jets have to pay with THREE 1st round picks in the next draft....

nookiebear 07-08-2008 01:34 PM

I like this quote from Redskins defensive coordinator Greg Blache

"Rookies are fine and dandy, and I'm glad to see them progressing. But I don't fall in love with rookies. You're better to fall in love with a stripper than a rookie, because they'll break your heart. They really will.

:)

There will be a major, massive, f*ck-off, huge clause preventing that...

saxoneagle 07-08-2008 01:41 PM

I think, if given game time, McFadden could get close to what Peterson achieved last year. He won't beat it, just close.

saxoneagle 07-08-2008 01:42 PM

FAVRE TO JETS

pauldrulez 07-08-2008 01:44 PM

I think McFadden will be a major bust this year.
Same with Ryan.

Mendenhall has the potential and could have gone a lot higher in the opening round of the draft and Mayock had him above McFadden the week before it.

pauldrulez 07-08-2008 03:48 PM

And to explain better now that I am not at work and doing a Saxon ;).

When McFadden gets tackled he goes down straight away. He doesnt keep going to get that extra yard or 2. From what I have seen of Mendenhall, he pushes to get those extra yards. But as I have said before I havent seen a huge amount of College Football, just highlights here and there.

pauldrulez 07-08-2008 10:32 PM

Saxon, if you are interested, I may have found somewhere to watch the Patriots game tonight.

Will send you a PM if you like.

If you mean just this year, of course Ryan will be horrible. No rookie Quarterback sets the world on fire. It's not possible. Take a look back at Peyton Mannings rookie year...

pauldrulez 08-08-2008 02:34 AM

Over their careers, especially this year in DM's case. Anyone would struggle at the Falcons and as there is no QB capable of being in the Top 10-20 picks in next years draft (right now), they panicked and took what was available so they didnt have to wait at least 2 years for another decent QB.

As for the Pats. Matt Cassel having a true shocker. An interception followed by a drive that ended with him falling over after a 3rd and 22 meaning we were 4th and 34. Jerod Mayo is playing a blinder however. Gutierrez has taken over for Matt Careless. Worth staying up for this one, and I have N.O vs Cardinals on SKY on the tv next to me,

Summer Holidays, made for work...
