You. F*cking. Beauty.
I'm going to be in NY the week after the Jets host the Patriots... obviously I'll be heading to NY a day early for that bad boy! :D All paid for by work, except my match ticket! |
I still might go to Seahawks @ Giants in October, too :D

Bully Brett Favre for us, not because he is a J-E-T-S QB now, but because he is a moron. (Rather than resorting to expletives:D) Tell Gholston I love him but not to sack Brady, well sack Cassel when we are 52-3 up and then Brady will be back running no huddle offence up the pitch for no reason. Embrace the hate in 08, the Patriots writers message for the season. Back to Brady vs Manning, I am of the opinion that Brady is the best play-off QB as he raises his games in the post-season compared to Manning. (Apart from against the Giants) My point about Brady being a quicker thinker compared to Manning is that he always hits the receivers' route and he knows where they are within a split second. If Moss was blocked, then wheres Stallworth/Gaffney, if they arent open then look for Welker and then Watson/Maroney. I think he is quicker in that process and can get it spot on to them as he doesnt have to move around as much as Manning. The long throws are easier for Manning, "Rocket Arm" I think he is on Madden games. He has the power to make some throws that Brady cant and has had 4 perfect games. |
I'd guess that a Pats-Jets ticket in NY could go for a lot of money on the black market.

Manning showed last year what a good all round passer he is when his number 1 receiver was injured. He spread the ball well. As for Brady, I'm pretty sure he wasn't "looking for Moss" on every play and I'm pretty sure Welker, in the slot most of the time, was much more likely to be second look than Stallworth or Gaffney. |
Paul I have no idea where you have got this bee in your bonnet about Favre from. From seeing this everyday since it broke the guy has been nothing but a class act just like he has been throughout his career. He has said nothing against Green Bay, accepted they wouldnt take him back and moved on. Wish there were more pros like him in every sport!

I dont like the way that he came back and angled for a trade immediately. It has all but ruined Aaron Rodgers' career. Since big things will be expected from him and as soon as he is picked off they will be calling for Favre he has no chance of having a good career there.
But, I will leave it now, all I will mention is that when he is picked off by Wheatley or Hobbs it will give me a greater pleasure then it would have done before. |

Only one or two have signed up to this one at last look, because we have another one running as well.
So all are welcome :D |

I think Farve has handled himself in a pretty dignified way throughout and I thought his words at the Jets press conference regarding the Packers were sincere and if I was a Packer would have just cemented his legendary status.
Will be interesting to see how he goes this year, hope he does a good job. |
This link is just about relevant to this thread:
http://deadspin.com/5035887/no-mark-...-why-should-he And the best quote on it: "Mercury Morris thinks Spitz shouldn't get too upset before he sees how things turn out" All of a sudden the my Fins side doesn't want Phelps to win eight golds. :D (As you were.) |
Paul, I think the deciding factor in the Favre fiasco is the reaction of the fans. If, by any stretch, he had screwed GB around, there would be at least SOME discontent coming from the fans. Not much, but some.
Look around the net. There isn't a single bad word being said about Favre -- by anyone. Except you. :D |

I think the way that pretty much every offseason for the last 5 years he's treated Green Bay badly. How on earth can they build a team around him? How can they do camp? I felt very sorry for Rodgers. I'm glad he's got his chance now though. |
saxoneagle, the internet's a big place. Are you sure there isn't space there for a publicity seeking journo somewhere on it?
I don't think I've heard a bad word about Favre's post-trade conduct. However I've heard/read plenty in regard to his drawn-out "will I retire or won't I" dramas that have taken place over the last few offseasons. Thinking about this the problem lies in the position. If you have a legendary running back or receiver then it is easy enough to keep them on the roster in some form until they retire, but at the QB position you're looking at the most critical position and you need some continuity. Having spent a first round pick on Rodgers the Packers were never going to let that go to waste. Imagine if Favre had played this season, then next and then Rodgers walked out when his contract expired due to never playing in Green Bay, not knowing when he would and seeing future contract offers dwindle in value. It doesn't look good for the Packers from a PR point of view but arguably from a team point of view it was a move they had to make. The alternative is to become the Miami Dolphins of 2000-present. |
