Not quite, in this case we're guessing what Vegas thinks the spread will be. Therefore you take into account things like the Giants, Colts and Patriots having a "tax" of about two points, e.g. if it was a typical game the Giants might be favoured by three, but with New York money in the market that line goes to five. There are also cases of teams getting respect when they don't deserve it, usually the Chargers and Jaguars.

Quite interesting and I've found it to be a very addictive game. Last week Simmons got about three games in a row dead-on.

Incidentally Cousin Sal is the same guy who gave his new-born son the middle name Romo. No guesses to where his allegiances lie.

Yeh. I was just explaining what a spread was. Obviously spreads are influenced by team popularities etc, much like game odds are in football...

I didn't realise that we were predicting what the spreads would be, that's an interesting game!

Because he's Mike Martz? (And also because he's peeved that Singletary got the job before him perhaps?)

Not there yet, and I think we'd certainly need it.

Hard game yesterday. Niners appear to be going in the right direction, Singletary must surely get the job now you'd think.

Utterly addictive.

A few weeks ago Simmons thought the Jets should have been favoured to beat the Niners by 10.5. Oops. :clown:

His opinion is that if he's off on a line by more than three points then the line is badly wrong, although at times (like the Niners-Jets line) he's saying that Vegas knows something the public doesn't.

elliott 15-12-2008 03:00 PM

martz is a div.

Strathclyde Eagle 15-12-2008 03:03 PM

Was just searching for old opinions here on Alex Smith and found a post from four years ago where I said Ricky Williams would never wear a Fins jersey again. :clown:

PalaceFan@UGA appeared to say first that Matt Leinart would be a flop in the pros.

Yes, Dave Hyde, YES.

I am so gay for Chad.

[QUOTE=Strathclyde Eagle]Because he's Mike Martz? (And also because he's peeved that Singletary got the job before him perhaps?)

Foster was doing a reasonable job on the ground (he didn't fumble! ), if he had mixed it up with say 8 or so run plays out of that series, I would have thought the result would have been different.

Still no TD's conceded by you guys for 12 qtrs. There were 3 times yesterday that should have bust that record though.

elliott 15-12-2008 06:10 PM

Agreed Chief Brody, we've been riding our luck quite a lot this year.

But give a hell, I still think we're owed luck from last year! We've had far more bad luck last year than good luck this year! So there... more to come [hopefully]!

Question: if both the Fins and the Jets win on Sunday does that mean that the Pats absolutely cannot win the AFC East?

I'm still apprehensive about going to KC, but that is a BEAUTIFUL thought.

(Especially as Saxon didn't vote for me as best mod in the BBS Awards.) :o

Yes, I think both teams hold divisional and conference tie-breaks over us.

However, there is one other option... the Jets and Phins could TIE in week 17 ;)

I would actually wet myself if that happened and we won out :D

Sorry Ben - I didn't want to vote for any of the twats in GCC so I tried to think of one of the mods in here and Strath came to mind first. I can put you down for worst mod if you like? ;)

I think that's the 2nd time this season they've given up 2 TDs in the last 2 minutes to lose at home. Bad teams keep finding new ways to lose. KC, St Louis, Buffalo.

pauldrulez 15-12-2008 08:45 PM

Buffalo are shocking. What did they think they were doing.

KC ruined a great draft moment for the Patriots who have San Diegos 2nd rounder for next year. In a trade for a 3rd :lux:

Ben, I split the vote between you and Strathers.

And I had to mention Jaz and Saxon in some places as well :)

saxoneagle 15-12-2008 08:51 PM

Right, I'm going to make a stupid suggestion here:

On Sunday, the Saints have nothing to play for as they are out of the play-off race.

They don't look like a great team away, unlike at home where they are solid.

They play Detroit, who have everything to play for, if only to get rid of the goose egg. And even now, with a win, they have the #1 pick sewn up. (Rams and Chiefs have 2 wins but I think would hold tiebreakers over the Lions...)

I'm going for the Lions to win by 10 points.

pauldrulez 15-12-2008 09:06 PM

With Calvin Johnsons performance yesterday (from what I saw on Gameday anyway), he is awesome.

AddiscombeEagle 15-12-2008 09:29 PM

Who have the Pat's got last two games Paul?

I have just read that if you lose one of your games, we only have to beat Jacksonville in our last to go through in the last wild card spot and won't need to worry about beating the Cowboys which is looking unlikely with our offense.

Home to Arizona
At Buffalo

We'll win both.

pauldrulez 15-12-2008 09:43 PM

Cardinals at Foxboro
Bills at Buffalo

Not the easiest really.

pauldrulez 15-12-2008 09:43 PM

Lol at me and Saxon being different as always.

This time i'm the pessimist ;)
