But the UNC jerseys are so pale, when I watch them play, I can't tell the difference.

Surely that can't be allowed.

Paul, that question is too hard. Not even Jamarcus Russell knows the answer to that (probably not saying much).

:lux: on both counts.

I am willing to bet that its hard enough to name one, no matter two of them.

And I like the powder blue, although saying it like that, it sounds kinda gay.

pauldrulez 19-12-2008 10:44 AM

Happy Bday to Ben btw.

Lets hope the Jets lose for you on Sunday. :lux:

Can't find a pic of the UNC jersey. The one I did find was blue like the Chargers jerseys.

It's basically the same colour, they just call it Carolina blue instead of light blue.

Incidentally while I have no problem with teams wearing white at home (and yes, I know that previous link was related to the NFL only) I don't see what the hang-up is in America with a team having to have at least a white jersey. If the Raiders had a silver road jersey instead of white would that really be a big problem?

Happy Birthday Ben. :p

Strathclyde Eagle 19-12-2008 11:13 AM

BTW I was thinking of the basketball unis more than football, and obviously early Jordan highlights. I'm a bit biased towards UNC because of that.

It will never change though.

I can't see the problem with teams simply having a very different away kit. Every non-american sport manages it.

And would it really be that bad to see games like OSU Michigan in colour on colour?

Latvian Eagle 19-12-2008 12:00 PM

I actually like the fact teams have a white and a colour uniform and would welcome it into sport over here to be honest.

Well I think the Carolina Blue is fine, it's not a major clash! But I think they should have different colour pants instead of the white though!

Not a major fan of the white NFL uniforms though. Only one of two actually look nice.

Strathclyde Eagle 19-12-2008 12:40 PM

I make it four:
Miami
Cleveland
Dallas
Washington

Latvian Eagle 19-12-2008 01:12 PM

I meant one or two...

Chicago
Philadelphia
Washington
Carolina (Obviously)
Seattle
Cincinnati
Tennessee
Dolphins
San Diego

Ok so I do think some look smart! But I still prefer the teams colours over their whites. I love all three Bengals jerseys but have no idea who I'd get on them. Only one I could think of is TJ but I wouldn't get all three with the same name. Poss Palmer, don't think I'd go near Chad for the third.

Latvian Eagle 19-12-2008 01:18 PM

Right if I had the lottery these are the jerseys I would buy (yes I'm probably mad)...

Carolina Home, Road, and Alt (Got them anyway)
New York Giants Home (got), and alt.
Baltimore Home, and Alt
Chicago Home
Cincinnati Home, Road, and Alt
Dallas Road (Navy)
Denver Alt
Detroit Alt
Houston Home
Jacksonville Home
Miami Road (Teal)
New England Home
New York Jets Home
Philadelphia Home, Road, and Alt
San Diego Home, Road, and Alt
Seattle Home and Road
St. Louis Home
Tennessee Home, Road, and Alt
Washington Road? (Red)

Soccer-Scene in Covent Garden had these on sale for £30 the other day. Half tempted to go get one at lunch time but I don't know which one. It's probably between the Chicago and Dallas ones to be fair or the Miami Teal.

I have the Dallas blue one and I love it. Would rather have had someone different to Romo on teh back though, somone legendary like Irvine or Smith but beggars can't be choosers when it was a gift .. :)

Latvian Eagle 19-12-2008 01:53 PM

That's the one thing that's putting me off the Cowboys one as it's my favourite of the ones mentioned.

They could have had someone slightly better than Romo on the back. Off the top of my head the Eagles one has Westbrook, the Steelers has Roethlisberger, the Pats one has Brady, Giants has Manning, 49ers has Gore, not sure what the Raiders one has, Bears has Urlacher I think and Packers has Rodgers.

Agreed. I think it's the only one available in the UK. If current players I'd much rather have the choice of Whitten, Barber or Ware. But old school is the preferred choice for me ... The Bears one definatley is Urlacher as my mate bought it.

I'd just get authentics. And throwbacks. And possibly college jerseys of Fin greats... and Deion Sanders. That's about it. I don't like wearing shirts of teams I don't support. Doesn't feel right to me.

Baltimore Colts became Indianapolis Colts.
Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore, weren't allowed to take the Browns name, so were renamed the Ravens.
Cleveland granted an expansion team, named the Browns.
Houston Oilers moved to Tennessee, who then realised that the Tennessee Oilers sounded stupid after relocation (see Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers). Renamed the Titans.
Houston granted an expansion team, NFL and city miss a trick by not naming them the Oilers. Team named the Texans and given a stupid curly logo. Thank goodness they weren't formed any later, otherwise the curly cow logo would probably have a web 2.0 line/fade through it.

Think that covers everything in terms of recent moves (besides the two who moved from LA, but they are pretty simple in comparison).

I never realised that, or probably hadn't really thought about it, on the basketball side of things until quite recently when I was watching a game with the wife and she was asking about nicknames. Most were obvious but it flashed up with the Jazz score and she asked why Utah was Jazz. I didn't have a clue at the time but the wife guessed that they might once have been from NO. So I looked it up and they were, of course.

As for the Lakers, I'd never even really considered that but yes, given the area, Lakers does sound stupid.

Just looked it up - Lakers started in Michigan before moving to Minneapolis, "the land of 10,000 lakes". I've learnt something new today, although completely useless in real life :D
