Best wishes to the Moats family.

Officials will be wearing orange and white stripes in the AFL throwback games.

Brilliant stuff!

Best wishes to the Moats family.

That's terrible. Impressed by Moats though, how many of us would have held it together like that.

Hey all. Returned from a week away. To save me some time can anyone give me a quick run down of any NFL news this week please. Cheers :p

I'd rather not scroll back through the pages if as I suspect Paul has been active on the thread in teh past seven days ... ;) :o

pauldrulez 29-03-2009 12:22 PM

But that won't happen.

17 could cause unfair games.
18 is possible but may involve repetitive games.

I think Elliott just proved 17 can be fair, actually ;)

Should be out in a couple of weeks.

"it’s tough to play for one team (the Dolphins) for 11 years, and then go to play for your bitter rival."

Jason Taylor's making all the right noises regarding New England's interest. Question is will he stick to his guns? My gut reaction is no. :(

Strathclyde Eagle 30-03-2009 09:05 PM

I did enjoy that quote. Looked especially good on the ESPN America ticker.

You gotta wonder why anybody would make a stupid statement like this:

Quote:

There are a number of reasons an NFL team wouldn't draft a certain quarterback. Maybe they'd be concerned about his arm strength, or footwork, or accuracy, or football IQ. There are literally dozens of flaws a signal caller might have. The San Francisco 49ers have found a new one.

Reports say that Mike Singletary and the Niners won't draft Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford because he was reluctant to talk to a team psychologist about his parent's divorce. Said Singletary:

"If you're going to look at drafting a guy in the first round, and you're going to pay him millions of dollars, and asking him about a divorce about his parents, if that's going to be an issue, uhhh, then you know what, maybe he doesn't belong here."

Let me get this straight: A 21-year old doesn't want to talk to some stranger about his parent's divorce? Inconceivable! Such a reaction surely portends NFL mediocrity!

Honestly, that's an utterly bizarre quote from Singletary. The 49ers have to do their due diligence in researching the backgrounds of draft picks, but what does not wanting to talk about a traumatic childhood event have to do with leading a football team?

The concern about psychology is especially strange coming from Singletary, who attempted to motivate his team last year by dropping his pants before giving a half-time speech. I'm pretty sure he got that idea from Freud.
Give me Stafford any time he plays against the 49ers.

Oh and Cutler is a whiny little bitch.

Benzhiyi 01-04-2009 10:31 AM

Well done, Josh McDaniels. Seems you can learn many things working for the Patriots, but, as ever, class isn't one of them.

pauldrulez 01-04-2009 11:10 AM

Said it before, i'll say it again.

The new generation of QBs are whiney bitches once their heads grow as they have some talent.

Has Cutler won a play-off game? No. Just like Romo and Cassel.

The same argument was used against Rivers by you all earlier in the year. He had got a team to the Conference Championship and dragged the team into the playoffs this year with an awful defense and an average running game.

Cutler REQUESTED a trade when McDaniels was hired.
McDaniels LISTENED to a trade offer from the Bucs which involved Cassel.
Cutler then whines about being traded.
McDaniels tries to get a meeting, a phone call or even a text out of Cutler and gets nothing.
Denver put Cutler on the Block, I give it 2 days before he comes out moaning.

as a raiders fan, it is so nice to sit back and watch someone else internally combust for a change :)
Though, this made me laugh.

I didn't voice any opinion whatsoever about Cutler. Indeed, I don't think he's handled the whole situation particularly maturely.

I merely wished to comment on what a classless individual Josh McDaniels clearly is, probably as a result of his time at the Pats, in the hope of eliciting a furious response from one of the New England fans on here. It worked. Cheers Paul. :o

Now, who won the AFC East again? I've missed the banter.

pauldrulez 01-04-2009 01:47 PM

I'm not saying McDonut is in the right either. In a perfect offense for Cutler, with a coach that would have allowed him even more passing (if poss) but with a perfect running game, the entire Denver organisation have screwed themselves over unsurprisingly.

:hi: 6 picks in top 97 in the Draft.
Returning Brady
Taylor or Peppers.
An actual Secondary
Players playing for a big contract.
Better receivers and RBs
Fully-fit O-Line
And a Returning Brady (did I miss that one)

19-0 ;)

I miss the banter. And I miss TB.

You miss tuberculosis? Or Tampa Bay? Can't imagine anyone saying that about either of those.

Cutler requested a trade when the Denver Offensive Coordinator went to USC. So when they start looking at trades, he acts like a little baby. Now he won't even answer phone calls from not only the new coach, but the owner of the Broncos as well.

Paul - you can't really look at Cutler's record alone.

The Broncos D is SOOOOO bad.

In games where they have let 21 points or less against, Cutler is 13-1 with the sole defeat being an 82yard reception in OT from a Favre-led Green Bay. No disgrace at all there and you can't expect a QB to score 24 or 28 points EVERY week just to keep a game close, never mind win it.

saxoneagle 01-04-2009 11:59 PM

Oh, and I've not read anywhere that Cutler requested a trade when McD was hired. He mentioned that he'd have preferred the old coaches staying, for sure, but I've heard nothing about him requesting a trade until AFTER the classless attempt by McD to get Cassel.

Ben is right - McD has played this all wrong and the Broncos will suffer next year.
