Maybe because Mayock is now on Heyward-Bey in the draft as a top 10 prospect after doing the same to Ayers. Ayers he said was "12th best player in the Draft" and "underrated" at the Combine.

That was 3 weeks after Kiper had him as one of the top 10 prospects but said he couldn't fit him into the top 10 of the draft. And Kiper had been on DH-B as well but slowed on him recently to focus on other positions so Mayock has to jump in to show how excellent he is.

Kiper is long past it as an 'expert'. Bordering on clueless now. His 'analysis' these days is about as well thought out and logical as... well, as pauldrulez's.

Now Mayock, I quite like.

Kiper is dreadful. Some of the stuff he was writing I was laughing at. And I know very little about the draft.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of Gil either.

I think I remember listening to Mayock at the draft last year and liked what he was saying.

It was more about Welker and Lewis being at the camp whereas Galloway hasn't turned up yet.

The strongest piece of evidence I have on Mayock (and the reason I dislike him although I have come around a little bit from his TV appearances) is when the Patriots drafted Jerod Mayo.

There were other reasons throughout that draft, but he seems to like every pick ;)

So having someone at 31 in the draft isn't showing that there is a possibility they are a solid first round pick?

As I said though, Mayock has grown on me this year. The guy I really like is Charles Davis. Not sure why, but he comes across the right way.

Does anyone think that the Lions will seriously just let the time run out on their pick? If they do that, then they will end up changing the rules for next year. The salaries are too high as it is for rookies. No way should Matt Ryan have been coming out with a contract as high as Manning and Brady.

It also causes the agents to complain about it. If Detroit race Seattle up at pick 4 and beat them and draft Aaron Curry after the Rams and Chiefs take the top 2 tackles, should he get the money for being 3rd player taken or 1st player taken as it was the first overall pick that was used. This could cause all sorts of problems.
