"I make you right"...
Ignored it the first few times and thought it was just the Eastenders extra (wannabe) scrote at work, but am hearing it more often. Its horrible and rubbish, not nice on the ears. Cant you just use "yes, you're right" or "that's correct," and add 'mate' if you need to. |

A few years ago I was caught up in one in Glasgow when I was on my meal break. They were marching past Glasgow queen street station, a fat **** banging his drum, little 10 year olds playing the flute. A fire engine pulled up at the junction with the siren blaring. The cops didn't bat and eye lid while the bigoted cun ts kept marching. A teenage girl darted across in front of the marchers and one of the old ***** in the orange sash grabbed her and threw her to the floor. Still the cops done sweet fa. Absolute scummy bastards Edit. Would love to know what a person from Essex finds so facinating about the bigotry |

People who think East London is great. Why? The place is horrible, a complete dump and proof you can't polish a turd. South London has some rough parts but also has a lot of lovely areas. I have yet to find anywhere nice in East London, the whole place is relentlessly grim.

No doubt that in its purest form its a great sport, but the absolute sideshow of stuff like Mayweather / McGregor and Haye / Bellew devalue it beyond all belief, oh what's that, you really hate each other??!?? you can't wait to knock him out blah blah blah Tedious and it treats the public like grade A idiots. |

We watched for 8 hours yesterday, with just a lunch break when we walked around the outside court areas. Son loved it, though rarely watches tennis on tv. Great range of people, nice to chat with and welcoming security staff who could teach some of the football security stewards how to do it. They welcome you, check your tickets and any bags closely and wish you a nice day. And they aren't fussed about you bringing in bottles of water, pre-opened or otherwise. I even saw a drinking water system from which you could refill your bottles for free. |

Much more seriously, Charlie Gard's parents and their supporters.
Don't mean to be callous, and nobody deserves to go through what they have been with their child, but they are being selfish and prolonging their son's agony. He is essentially a vegetable, and the loving and caring thing would be to say goodbye. They, and their supporters, have been - whether directly or indirectly - bad-mouthing the NHS and more specifically, Great Ormond Street. I, unfortunately, know a lot about GOSH and how it works, and it is the most wonderful hospital full of the most wonderful people. It is the world's leading children's hospital, full of those dreaded experts. They have been trying everything for Charlie. They have been attacked, but can't respond owing to patient confidentiality. To see pro-lifers, Trump and the Vatican included, use this case to further their ideals is sickening, doubly so when you see the abuse GOSH has been getting from some quarters. |

They are parents desperately trying to do the best for their child, yet you call them selfish? what a **** you are for referring to them in such a way. They are experts on their own child, so lets not see this as a Parents v experts argument , where we all just look at the professionals as the only sane voice in the argument (I talk generally here about cases as well that sees parents set against professionals, and have personal experience of it as well). Where have they slagged GOSH? Or are you using the word 'slagged' as meaning they disagree with them on the issue of their own child? Also if the decision finally does arrive that the ventilator is switched off why the **** are the parents being told by the hospital they cannot take their own child home with them to die? Totally inhumane and also makes me a little concerned about a professional arrogance overriding compassion over what is happening here. |

Sorry. :) |
Quote:
His mum cites 18 cases where kids have been given the same experimental treatment - none of them are or were in as remotely as bad a state as Charlie. GOSH has done everything they can to help Charlie. They got zero thanks. Their first priority is, rightly, the child. They are world-leaders in this disease and, backed by four courts, reluctantly decided after months and months that the most compassionate action is to end his life with dignity. He can't be allowed home to die because he will likely die as soon as he is removed from all the equipment that is currently keeping him 'alive'. I never actually used the word slagged. The parents have given various interviews where they have made their opinions of GOSH quite clear. They have engaged in a protest right outside the hospital (not at all upsetting for all those other poorly children in there...). Supporters and Twitter campaign groups in Charlie's name have asked for protests, for GOSH donations to be stopped; said groups have used words like scum, and implored people not to take their children to GOSH to be 'murdered'. The Vatican hospital offering to help has zero published work or comment on mitochondrial disease. Trump and all the Americans who have jumped on the bandwagon are pro-lifers who believe a miracle is possible. It is not. The humane thing is to let Charlie go. Therefore, if you want to use a word like inhumane, I would say it is the parents who are guilty. |
Quote:
I guess I asked for that. |
Quote:
I have used slagged as a word to mean the same as your claim of 'bad mouthing' . While you are at it could you tell me what interventions GOSH has used on Charlie to deal/help with his condition? Have they used any emerging ones? If so which one(s)? |

Back to my 'pet' theme of dogs where they shouldn't be. I was in the British Library cafe yesterday catching up on some emails. In walks a young woman with her little poop machine. Two transgressions in one - a dog in a place serving food and a dog in the British Library. Is there nowhere you can escape the creatures?
|
Quote:
My main issue here is that the parents have been referred to as selfish for fighting in what they believe is in the best interests of their child. Is GOSH a world leader in this condition? Why has an American couple said their own child has similar symptoms to Charlie and would be dead if he had simply had access to the treatment over here? http://www.thesun.co.uk/living/33180...rd-court-case/ Why should the parents not fight to get treatment that they believe would help their child, especially as it wont be the NHS funding it? |
Quote:
Understandable, their position. But I trust in GOSH more. The American child's condition is simply not comparable. |
It's wrong to criticise the parents. There but for the grace of god, for sure.
However I think PS is substantially right in what he says and the parents are being misled by these ghouls. |
Quote:
And you trust GOSH more based on what exactly, your opinion of the place or because of the treatment they have given Charlie, because you know its the best type of treatment available to treat his condition? Why do you believe the treatment in America is not good for him? In what way is the child in America so different to Charlie? Surely at some point the parental rights should be respected, when all we are dealing with here is opinion, where professionals have a different view from each other what can and cannot help Charlie. |
Quote:
|
What do you mean by "the parents' rights should be respected"? That their opinion should override that of the GOSH?
It's generally accepted and explicitly stated in the article you linked that the American child's case is very different and Charlie's brain damage is extensive and irreversible. |
Quote:
All said and done let us hope that whatever ends up happening in this case, is going to be in the best interests of Charlie. |

As for dogs in eaterys. What is the problem with that? It's not a problem in Europe only the UK. I take my dogs to restaurants in Europe and they are positively welcomed. They lay under the table whilst we are eating and you don't hear a peep from them. That's more than can be said for a lot of kids in restaurants in this country where the parents let them run wild. |
