I listen to 6music all day when working from home which i love.
But the one thing that annoys me is Lauren Laverne saying "Hey music lover"
Now i know 6music can be up its own arse sometimes i can live with that, but that implies that they are the only station that plays good music.

Parcels arriving in packaging that has the the company names and logos all over it. Its Christmas, shops have been closed so everyone is ordering presents online. May as well write on the box whats in it and completely ruin the surprise. 2 things I've ordered for my wife she has now guessed what they are as she took the delivery and the box completely gave it away. Now I've taken one she has ordered and its ruined my surprise as from the packaging I've guessed what it is.

Why only 1 pint and why did it take 2 hours? I wanted to do the same but I had a look on their app and it said that all pizzas were sold out so didn't bother.

Eldest son does the right thing and learns to ride his 125cc motorbike properly including an extra police safety course and takes his test. His reward for this diligence?

His insurance goes UP by £2 a month !

Annoying, but the reason is that he is likely to ride a lot more now than when he was a provisional driver.

He has been using it for a commute for the last year or so. Did the police course and found when he declared it, he lost half the insurers. So he simply stopped declaring. But as he says he should have saved the training, saved the cost of the test and just did his CBT every two years. Its like they WANT to put people of bikes.

If he's answering no to a specific question, when the real answer is yes, then that is a criminal offence.

If he's just not volunteering the information that's a different matter.

Even more studio then. That you do the things you are encouraged to do and then you are penalised. The question is posed as you may get extra discount. I also think the police have a little more to do than chase people who may or may not have correctly or incorrectly ticked a box that may or may not be voluntary.

It’s not the police that chase it, but rather the insurance companies. If there is a claim then obviously the application gets examined in more detail. If there are any untruths on it then this is prosecuted as a criminal offence. And you can probably understand why, even if you don’t think your own case is relevant. This is all explained in detail on the small print on the policy.

But whatever you think about that, you will agree that insurance companies will do anything to get out of paying on a claim, especially when the application is invalid.

Moving house which appears to be a hobby as far as my wife is concerned. We have moved a few times I am getting use to it. However its the solicitors (apoligies to one on here) do they actually work for there client. Finding one that calls you updates you in fact do anything is getting impossible. Two weeks to send details to our solicitor because he is over worked is the sellers one excuse. Estate Agents dont get me started on that. We had offer within days great. Except the offer on his fell through. Though I only find out after chasing Estate Agent to find out why the delay. Seems his flat had issues with lease. It fell through three times before Estate Agent admitted it. There has to be a better way.
In the meantime I now do a fortnightly check on the chain. So at least I know what might be happening. Oh forgot the delight if searches and how long they take despite computerisation. The joys of insurance where it seems we insure against solicitors messing up despite the fact we pay them. Chancellory Insurance for churches being repaired and charging home owners. I am of the opinion that is up there with PPI. I thought all churches had to declare they may make claim yet without doing search solicitor has it on bill.
Hey ho....hopefully we will move soon.....

Blimey. Take up fine art collection or racehorse breeding, it'll be cheaper.

I'm in the midst of moving. I'm sure there's a market for a service professional to project manage the transaction. I'm confident anyone who has been through a difficult sale/ purchase - which is pretty much everyone who has bought/ sold - would in hindsight happily pay to take the stress away from the situation and manage the moving parts.

In the spirit of the thread, my biggest annoyance right now is The Land Registry. There isn't a superlative that captures the scale of their incompetence.

Oh, and box labelling. Why would you scrawl 'KITCHEN' on a cardboard box, and not cross out the previously inked 'LIVING ROOM?' What the hell is wrong with people?

Firstly having to go to Lakeside after work to do more Christmas shopping with the wife and my two daughters. Secondly despite massive posters and signs everywhere telling people they have to wear face coverings or they will be asked to leave the shopping centre, people still do not wear them and are not challenged. Our traveller friends think that Covid does not effect them at all as none of them were wearing face covering at all.

If they are worried about deaths, stigmas, and discrimination they could help themselves a little by wearing masks.

Unless that story is a falsehood to provoke anti-reaction

One post from a BBSer and suddenly none of 'them' wear masks, and therefore 'they' are fair game? Could you imagine posting something similar about any other ethnic group? The study in the article is nothing to do with COVID or masks - it started before the pandemic.

Are they an ethnic group or just following a handed down lifestyle?

What about students on trains not wearing masks in groups..?

I wouldn't call their ethnicity much different to my chav family that have sponged off the state for 30 years. Their house doesn't have wheels except for those littered around the garden.

IT changes a few things. Numbers and incidents...

What makes an Irish traveller different from someone who is Irish? Perhaps someone those parents or grandparents were travellers, bit they themselves have lived a more 'regular' life.

Anti-discriminatory legal status doesn't define ethnicity for me. Otherwise I could be legal classed as a c unt.

I see. So your definition of an ethnic group is “what Peter thinks” rather than having any actual basis in ethnographic fact.

As today is international human rights day, I'll leave this here for you to peruse. https://www.paveepoint.ie/
You're welcome.

In my experience you would need to be pretty brave to abuse an Irish Traveller.

It's easier if you are in Chile I guess.

Just to be clear I was in Lakeside last night and 70 % of people were wearing face coverings. Every traveller i saw about 4 different groups, none were wearing face coverings. The others wete mainly mid twenties. The Hattods story just helps prove the point.

Having to buy a pack of 3 Glue Sticks when the last single stick I bought lasted me about 15 years.

There is that... hate when that happens.

At 65 I'm certainly no dedicated follower of fashion, but it is annoying that when buying new jeans (regular fit for the "older" man) that a 34 inch inside leg seems too long, and a 32 inch inside leg seems too short. I guess the freak of nature I am needs a 33 inch inside leg, which obviously they don't do.

I could get a 34 shortened at a tailor I guess, but previous attempts at doing this never looked right.

Amazing what a difference 2 inches makes (said the actress to the vicar!).

Do turn ups and glue them with one of your many glue sticks.

Some travellers tried to get into my friends house once when he was a kid, pretending to be a gas man. They tried to force the door open and it was just mum and him so he picked up the nearest thing (hockey stick) and decided to whack one round the head and get the door shut. Feeling relieved, he called the police and didnt think anything else about it.

He was burgled 7 times in 3 years, they tried to blow up is mums car via the petrol cap and even followed him to school.

Terrifying experience.

I'm convinced my inside leg measurements have always been odd numbers ie. 29, 31, 33 inches. Only place I can remember getting those sizes was Dickie Dirts? Used to be in the old cinema in Denmark Hill.

I suspect I have a mix of all sorts in my DNA, as we all.

Considering we supposedly all migrated out of Africa and all have that in our DNA, I suggest you stick your ethnological facts up your black arse.

Again let's stick to facts rather th:rolleyes:e your general silliness:.

Where have I abused travellers other than suggesting they could help their own cause by wearing masks more often. Complying for once.

As you know nearly everything, I will help you get to 100%. There are traveller communities un Chile, too.

radiomike 11-12-2020 06:04 PM

Being descended from ‘Irish Travellers’ I do get annoyed about the generalities put about
There is much hostility from the outset as the term is immediately stigmatised.
Whenever I do mention the fact to those who Are castigating the travelling community ,many then say well they are not all bad. Exactly , as with many other groups.

Sorry if you find facts uncomfortable. But abuse doesn’t make you any more right than you were before.

As a bloke of a similar age, albeit slightly ahead, I reckon at our age it's time to ditch the jeans and go for very smart gentleman whether formal or casual. This savs us from being an old git trying too hard and slipping slowly into beige obscurity.
