Watching New Orleans against the Carolina Panthers. Orleans just taken a 7-3 lead ...
|
Forget the B- comment
It's now an F!!! |
FOUR Skins fumbles in a half - one of the worst ever first half performances I've ever seen
|
A+ for Eli
In spite of a severe attack of clownitis he managed 272 yards and won me the bet. Giants fans will be remembering this as the worst QB showing of this millennium and yet in terms of final yards he did pretty good. Crazy sport at times. Props to Boomer Esiason for his spot on analysis of how Eli would be throwing it 40+ times. |
Gotta laugh.
Some poor sap bet £200 at 1.01 (i.e. to win £2) on the Tennessee v Cincy game ending over 46 points when teh scorebard showed 35-12 with 6 or 7 minutes to go..... ...only for the play to be reversed, Tennessee failed to convert the 4th & 1 and then neither team scored in the final 6 minutes!!! Unbelievable |
Ouch re the above.
I'm glad some people are daft enough to still kick to Devin Hester. :) |
Wet turf causing a few turnovers in Chicago.
BTW brief footage from KC appeared to show the field was fine, so I think all the idiots can stop blaming the NFL for us losing to Croatia. |
Cedric Benson on the sidelines, wearing a tracksuit and hobbling with the assistance of crutches.
Officially, "his return is questionable". :D |
Nick Halling's going to go nuts against Todd Sauerbrun. This could be good. :D
Hester's just unbelievable. |
Two incredible catches by Scheffler for Denver in that last drive.
|
Quote:
|
Two of his kicks returned for six, another blocked, can't kick for a touchback from just the 45. :clown:
|
This should be an interesting replay
|
Incredible game. Bears win in OT.
|
Philly tie the Pats. :lux:
Of course Brady hasn't been on the field yet (Pats scored on an INT return). CFL Grey Cup just had footage of the replay booth, watching footage of themselves watching themselves. :D |
One of the teams in the Grey Cup final has intentionally conceded three safeties.
Strange game. |
Quote:
Going for touchback in that situation is unnecessary. That said, it's better than conceding a TD!! |
I disagree, Grim. You ALWAYS kick for a touchback or squib (and you always punt oob) when it's Hester waiting to run it back at you. Simple.
A Sunday without a Dolphins defeat! Truly beautiful. :lux: (I know. Don't say it.) |
Phew, the Pats got out of jail yesterday. Until the last 4 mins, we couldn't do anything to stop the Eagles offense ticking up the yards while Moss was permanently wrapped up on the offensive side of the ball.
Good game Philly but the unbeaten streak goes on! Here's to the first team in the play-offs :D |
Quote:
(To clarify, it was a kick-off, not a punt.) If I'm playing the Bears in that position I'm blasting it through the end zone. Hester can't return it from the stands. |

0-0 with 7.32 left in the third this evening. What a game. To be fair the pitch is like playing in a pond.

Has there ever been a 0-0?

This is epic.

GO ON TEDDY!
|
oh.
please please please please please. |
don't ever give the line the ball.
seriously gutting. dolphins will beat the jets though. |
Need to hire a rugby coach for those desperation last play of the games. That was embarrassing.
Miami should have backed their kicker instead of going for that 4th and 11. |
Correct. Especially out of the good grass.
The ball was so close to getting to Ted Ginn at the end. If LJ hadn't have slipped! |
Funnily enough there are many kids my age whose first sight of NFL was kicker John Smith appearing on Saturday Morning kids TV (anyone remember Saturday Starship with Tommy Boyd?) in 1982-83, with footage of him scoring the winning late field goal for New England in a 3-0 win.
The opponents? Miami HA HA |
That was some game. And although the conditions were a great leveller, I was nonetheless impressed with how we played. In particular John Beck looked like he might be the quarterback we've been waiting for; showed poise in the pocket, a strong and accurate arm, and some speed when he got flushed. I'm keen to see what he can do against the Bills and the Jets later in the year as that was a tidy little performance.

Just seen this on SSN, very sad news. RIP
|
NFL star dies from bullet wound
A star player from the National Football League in the US has died, a day after being shot in his home during an apparent burglary. Sean Taylor, who played for the Washington Redskins, was shot by an intruder at his home near Miami. Mr Taylor, 24, died after heavy blood loss, caused by the severing of his femoral artery. A family friend told AP news agency the NFL star had not regained consciousness after being taken to hospital. Police said they were investigating the circumstances behind the shooting. :( :sob: RIP Sean :( |
Very sad. On his day he was some player. :(
|
Awful. :(
|
Very sad news .... :(
|
Far too many black decals on helmets this year, and that's another one. Shot in his own home. Just sickening.
Like Darrent Williams, a father of young kids, gone far too soon. Incidentally I hope that the NFL lets players from teams other than the Redskins honour him, because the Jake Plummer/Pat Tillman thing a few years ago was ridiculous. I'm sure other University of Miami players will wish to remember Taylor. Along similar lines it was good of the Redskins to fly Clinton Portis down there with a team delegation. |
Very sad news indeed. :(
I'll always remember him for THAT hit on the punter in the 2007 Pro Bowl. Hope God has his pads on... |
RIP
Not the news i was expecting to wake up to this morning :( |
Bloody hell, absolutely gutted - was one hell of a player
|

Was a member of the 2001 UM national championship team. Get a look at this roster alone to see the impact that will be felt by this:

Wow, that was a pretty handy team...
|
Slightly happier note, I took a wander round Sports Direct in my lunch hour. Seems they've got a few NFL jerseys going for £30. Only a few teams, Cowboys, Steelers & Giants among them.
Be careful though, one of them had OWENS printed upside-down on the back. |
All over the news here as you can imagine (I'm in DC today)
Sad |

John Beck does NOT have a strong arm. In fact he side-arms it. That's why none of his passes have any zip. Growing up in a BYU spread offense has meant that he doesn't have a strong arm at all. And RIP Sean Taylor. |
I think there's a YouTube clip of Beck throwing a 70 yard hail mary. I think his arm is ok. :)
If you're on YouTube also search for that Sean Taylor hit on the Bills punter at the Pro Bowl. Bit of a weird coincidence that the Bills are the Redskins' opponents this week. |

Interesting listening to US sports radio today.
Taylor had another intruder in his house just nine days ago. Seems when Taylor heard this intrusion, he got his machete to confront the person. Alas a machete is no match for a gun. On a wider scale, the NFL are concerned that this wasn't random and was linked to Taylor's 'colourful' past. NFL already reeling after golden boy Mchael Vick's indiscretions this summer and if another star like Taylor has been killed through the people and situations he's associated with, it doesn't look good. Seems like a number of players have a whole crowd of hangers on and bad influences going back to their 'hoods' and adolesence. The argument goes is 'why should I give up my friends and 'brothers' who I grow up with just because I now have money.' In the case of Vick, even the mayor of Atlanta tried to intervene and encouraged him to get rid of his 'homies.' This issue could raise its head again and it's hard to see how it can be stopped. |
Good points.
Must admit that when I read that his house had been robbed a week and a half ago I did think that the Redskins would have some kind of staff in place to advise in regard to personal security. They're paying these guys so much I'd have thought that all teams would have some kind of liasion officer for that and other such important issues. However reading details from this and also the Vikings receiver who was fined for organising his Gran's funeral it doesn't seem as if much help exists for these players. More's the pity. |

Not like a horses head I guess, but may have been some kid of warning. This guy was no angel. |

Sorry if this has been posted before. |
I was expecting Portis to want to wear his number for the rest of the season. Although the NFL would probably be so anal and wouldn't let him.
|
I have heard that there is a conserted effort being made by fans to get him voted into this years Pro Bowl
|
First match of the week sees the Cowboys take on the Packers at the Texas Stadium. Hoping all is true above and Taylor is honoured in the right way ...
Should be a great game :p |
F*cking game tonight is on NFL Network again which is blocked in Bermuda... meaning I get to watch 3 hours of NFL matches from the 1970s again like last Thursday night :grrr:

Was just listening to the latest Sports Guy podcast on the way home from work. Apparently the Fins are favoured by two this week.
So I guess now the question is whether Cris is putting on three or four figures on the Jets on Sunday. |
I've no doubt whatsover that we're a better team that the Jets, regardless of what our respecitve records are. But much depends on whether an 0-11 team can go out and believe they can pick up a W at last.
|
From the photos I've seen it looks like the Cowboys played in blue at home. Any reason why (besides jersey sales)? I thought the only blue ones they wore were those navy throwbacks with the star on the shoulder?

Poor old Mangini is in a right old mess.
He's paranoid a player will spout off to the press and say something that will annoy Miami and make them perform better. He's put a ban on players talking to the press. What the hell could someone say about an 0-11 team that could possibly be inflammatory?? I'm going to see if can get the bet that is sometimes offered that the game finishes with a difference of 3 points. Usually +525 in US odds - just over 5/1 in English. Happened the last three times these two have met. And let's face it, there's not much to choose between a bucket of crap and a bag of crap!! 3 points will be about right. 9-6 Jets!! |

If Chatman plays, Dolphins will win tomorrow. |

My concern is the defence has conceded only 11 points a game since the bye week. I can't see us keeping up that kind of form. |

Loserbowl is underway!!
Go Thomas Jones. I need o72.5 rushing yards from the boy! |
Love it
Leon punishes Miami with a long run......yet again (three games on the trot!!) Jones 6 yards from 4 carries Washington 22 yards from 2 carries Ho hum! |
Nice, the Redskins honour Sean Taylor by starting on defence with ten men, then the Bills run 20+ yards for a first down. Being fair, it might not have been the time to do that.
Meant to ask Cris, have you got anything on the Bills-Redskins game? |
No bet on that. Will keep an eye and maybe bet at half time (which is when I do most of my bets these days.)
There's an interesting line of precedents in NFL and college football where teams do excel following the death of a player or coach, so I've seen plenty of tips for Redskins -5.5 but decided to steer clear. |
Got the over 37 on the San Diego game but wishing I'd taken Seattle over right now! 14-7 up already!!
|
Jason Taylor now up to 15th in the all time sacks chart with two already today
|
Yet another bad punt from the Jets.
Send this plank back to Australia!! |

;) Redskins look inspired today, just haven't put the ball in the end zone yet. |
There's a key thing to remember about the Redksins in that they play to the level of their opponents week after week. Hell, they only beat the Jets by 3 in OT!!
Betting on them in ANY game is a risk |
WTF! MIami take the lead
Only in the Loswerbowl could you have a team taking a kick off following a TD at the 7 yard line!!!!!!!!!! |
Yeh man
Finally some good offense in teh San Diego game. Two quick TDs puts the o37 back on track. Actually got two commentaries going on two separate laptops. Never tried it before but it's working well. The play seems to happening in Miami when the adverts are on in Kansas and vice verse |
Get in Jets
The Dolphins are going for 0-16 |
It's happening. No way it doesn't happen now.
|

Was behind the count all the way and then a glorious 15 yards on a 3rd & 7 took it up to 71. Manginius obviously had the bet as well because as soon as Jones got past 72.5 he didn't have another carry!! ;) Really enjoyable game (for me) and one has to wonder just how bad Miami are. 5 or 6 turnovers; no offensive TDs; virtually no offense of any kind in the entire 2nd half. As bad as the Jets are, nice to see that we can be semi-competent when Coles is in the team |
Quote:
Nuff said |
This man took Miami with a 19 point start off one of his radio colleguaes and was happily bragging about it all week how it was money in the bank. Despite being a Jets fan he was looking forward to Miami winning to help usher Mangini out of the door!

Interesting what Halling was just saying about Joe Gibbs. A lot of Skins fans are getting fed-up with Gibbs' second spell in chrage - and calling two time outs in a row and losing the game on a FG like that won't help
There was a rumour about the old Steelers coach Bill Cowher taking over and as a Skins fan I think I'd be happy if that happened for next season Some of Gibbs play calling decisions this season have been curious to say the least |
