Very jealous Nookie.

I almost persuaded my fiance to drive down to San Diego last weekend. She would have done had it not been for the mountains of college work she had! :hmph:

pauldrulez 13-09-2008 07:06 PM

Would love to see a hail mary throw in a nine-year-olds match :D

Bad news for the Texans

Ike damages Texans' stadium, Monday's game iffy
Associated Press

HOUSTON -- Damage caused by Hurricane Ike will likely lead to the postponement of Monday night's NFL game at Reliant Stadium between the visiting Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans.

The storm tore chunks off the stadium's retractable roof and the damage can't be fixed in time to host the game, said Shea Guinn, the president and general manager of Reliant Park.

"There is no way this stadium will host a game on Monday night," Guinn said Saturday. "There are parts of the roof that are completely gone."

An official announcement was expected later Saturday, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said.

"It certainly appears that the stadium is not going to be able to be used on Monday night," Aiello said.

The game, originally scheduled for Sunday, was moved to Monday earlier in the week as Ike approached the area.

The field is not scheduled to host another game until Oct. 5. If the game is postponed, it is unclear when it could be made up. The Texans' off week is Oct. 26, while Baltimore's is Nov. 6.

Three years ago, when the New Orleans Saints were displaced because of Hurricane Katrina, they played four of their scheduled home games at LSU's Tiger Stadium, three in San Antonio and one in East Rutherford, N.J., against the New York Giants.

New blog on my picks for Week 2 up now.

nookiebear 13-09-2008 10:22 PM

Well, just back from my first game of the weekend

A 13-0 victory for the Catonsville Stars over the Westminster Wildcats

A 85-yard TD run in the first quarter and a hail mary intercepted and returned for six as time expired in the 4th :)

The standard was incredible. These kids are nine or ten but it was fantastic to watch. The poor Wildcats QB though - his O line were awful, he got battered so many times

Also watched a game between the two school's younger kids - all aged six. Catonsville have a tiny running back who wears 21 and could teach Mr Tomlinson a thing or two. He scampered 40 yards for one score and nearly ran 50 yards for a second TD - but he was tackled at the one

A blast, off to Camden Yards in a sec - it's a baseball double header because of the rain last night :)

pauldrulez 13-09-2008 10:56 PM

Lucky you.

What sort of size are the 9/10 yr olds, are they bigger than the average kid or just normal kids that enjoy the sport. Is it taken as seriously as proper football is over here.

nookiebear 14-09-2008 06:45 AM

Well, stage two done - two crushing defeats for the Orioles against the Twins 12-2 and 12-6

I'm zonked after 6 hours of baseball and off to bed - not long till the Skins kick off now :lux:

Kids seemed normal size - apart from the massive shoulders :D

jlmatthews 14-09-2008 07:23 AM

Sounds like a smashing start to your weekend :p

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 12:41 PM

I'm excited about this weekend as for the first time in about 2 yrs I have no idea what is going to happen in a Patriots match. I am excited to see how Cassel copes with his first start since high school, excited to see Favre play for the Rats as I didnt watch most of it last week as I was watching the Pats although I saw Chads last drive and the Favre 2 TD passes and the INT.

I want to see a proper running game with our 5 backs, can the OL hold up, can the secondary pick off Favre, can the Jets pick off/sack Cassel.

Lots of good matchups tonight/tomorrow.

The Texans-Ravens game has been moved to Week 10 with this being their bye week. A Bengals game had to be moved as well to change their bye week I think

jazman 14-09-2008 01:37 PM

Is the Houston game off because of the hurricane?

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 04:12 PM

Yeah.

jlmatthews 14-09-2008 04:41 PM

Need some help folks. I try to download TV Ants and it tells me the version I have is out of date and then takes me to a Chinese website or something. Can anyone help please?

jlmatthews 14-09-2008 06:00 PM

Found bears on sopcast for this week. But seriously... any help in the TV Ants would be appreciated :p

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 06:33 PM

Do you already have it?

Search for it on your system and if it is there, then delete all of it. Then try to download it.

Thankgod I dont have to look everywhere for it this week. Its on Sky Sports :D

jlmatthews 14-09-2008 06:39 PM

I had it but it said it was out of date and I needed to download the new one. Now everytime I try it there is some sort of error? Oh well... sopcast today :p

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 06:43 PM

:D

I have no clue really, I just downloaded it and it worked lol

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 07:01 PM

That guy on Sky Sports has invented a great word.

Bradyless.

So the choice, Packers @ Lions or Colts @ Vikings. Thats a hard one. Aaron Rodgers or Manning vs AP.

Kevin Cadle is that guys name I just saw.

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 07:04 PM

As I am posting to myself atm, I will ask a question.

Anyone watching the Colts game on Sky Active, there are two bits of commentary running at the same time

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 07:08 PM

Its the Bears commentary and the Colts commentary, I hear that the Bears hae scored a TD while Manning threw an INT and AP broke out a 20 yd run.

Benzhiyi 14-09-2008 07:40 PM

Aaron Rodgers looks the man.

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 07:46 PM

The two TDs I have seen in the highlights look well worked. He will be getting the Favre lovers behind him in Wisconsin now.

Manning looking average, AP looking very good, Tavaris not so, Addai also not looking so good.

Vikings D look awesome and on top form tonight.

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 07:49 PM

AP now on 106 yards and only about a 3rd into the game :o

Benzhiyi 14-09-2008 07:54 PM

Third TD for Rodgers. Lions are poo, but wow anyway.

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 08:08 PM

Brett who? ;)

Skins in the redzone, Bungals in the redzone as well

Bears 10-0

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 08:19 PM

1st Time in 2 years that the Colts have failed to score in the 1st Half.

I'm watching the Rachel Stevens Through the Years programme on The Vault. I'm glad not to be giving Sky any more money than is absolutely necessary.

Don't Stop Movin & memories of my best man on my stag night. :moo:

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 08:27 PM

Rodgers was unlucky there, he went for timeout with 2 secs left and they didnt give him it IMHO, but he looks composed, talented and has a good arm

jlmatthews 14-09-2008 08:38 PM

Rogers is looking good. But remember it's the Lions. They're terrible!!!

That being said, I did say earlier that I think Rogers can be a good QB.. and IMO the Packers look pretty good for a playoff spot after a week and a half.

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 08:49 PM

Two weeks in a row though Jason.

The Vikings, who have stopped the Colts everytime couldnt stop Rodgers last week, Jared Allen finally got a sack this year after all that money spent. ;)

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 08:51 PM

Ooh, Congratulations on your Emmy btw :p :lux: We are truly in illustrious company.

True. I'm not saying he's playing poorly or anything... just saying it's too early to declare him a world beater :) He very well could be... but let's see what he's made of when he's got a bit of an injury and it's snowing with below freezing temps in Lambeau.

Thanks about the Emmy too!! :p

That wasnt a Touchdown for the Colts, he wasnt in by about 2 inches but as the official called it a TD, the Vikings challenge was turned down by the official.

Ever seen what happens when that situation occurs in a CFL game? The punter runs round for ages in a gigantic end zone before giving up a safety. It is very funny. :D

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 09:23 PM

Vinatieri just missed an easy 3. Peyton Manning, shall we say, to put it mildly is enormously pissed off by the game today, and as the kick sailed wide he said "Are you ••••••• kidding me".

Meh.

No I haven't. Sounds hilarious :D

Rams sorting out their game it looks like ...

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 09:29 PM

2-10 CIN38 (13:55) C.Palmer pass short right to C.Ocho Cinco to CIN 46 for 8 yards (E.King).

Whose this Ocho Cinco guy?

Manning has been Intercepted again.

Addai has 14 carries for 10 yds overall
Minnesota are averaging 5.6yds per running play.

OUCH

jazman 14-09-2008 09:33 PM

Addai is killing my fantasy team - was hoping he was going to have a good game tonight ....

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 09:38 PM

What about Dallas Clark Jaz, did you put him in your team?

I think I luckily took Marvin Harrison out and went with McFadden (Well, I think I did).

49yd FG missed would have made him 6/6 and that was his 3rd longest attempt of the game.

I forgot how good Peterson actually is. He picks these little holes and hes gone. Its amazing to watch a whole Vikings match, I didnt do too much of that last year. I had them 13-3 this year in Saxons fixtures predicty thingy.

Thinking of Saxon, he must be in the stadium by now?

pauldrulez 14-09-2008 09:39 PM

Shit, I didnt know how good DM was doing  160+yds and a TD.

TD Indianapolis, going for 2 pointer

This is a great game of American Football.

Colts have the ball back, 15-15 4:05 on the Clock, 1st and 10 at the 45.

Jaz, Addai finally has some yardage

Try and hide behind the post!

I own on DVD two of the NFL games where a deliberate kneel has been done to win the game.

Belichick v Denver (about 2001???) and Shula v Pittsburgh (1973).

Both genius calls and not picked by the commentators!

Yeh. And Fox fantasy is down too. Gash.

I managed to ditch mine at the last minute, but I did need to sign Matt Roth as an emergency cover DL. Should score a few for me cos points are weighted heavily towards LBs.

Did Dallas Clarke play? I've got him in a team.

elliott 14-09-2008 09:54 PM

Awesome punt recovery for colts. Lovely.

jazman 14-09-2008 09:55 PM

The Viking fans are real arseholes, worse than the Palace fans by a distance.

Booing Tarvaris as he gets blitzed, blame the OL for that one  Every pass dropped, missed or just average by him has booed.

Colts in range now after Vikes being left in own 1yd line thrice.

Wait 15yd penalty for them.

LLCOOLSTEVE 14-09-2008 10:02 PM

Skins come back
Lions come back

Raiders beating Chiefs relatively easily.

Manning spikes the ball with 8 secs to go and here comes Vinatieri after 3rd down completion.

Kurt Warner 1/1 79yds 1 TD. to Anquan Boldin.
