From @Adam_Schefter:

There's smoke coming off the track: LSU WR Trindon Holliday just recoreded one of fastest 40-yard dashes ever run in Indy, a blazing 4.22.

OAKLAND :hi:

Unlucky Trindon, Undead Al wants you now.

pauldrulez 27-02-2010 05:17 PM

Bruce Campbell is a beast.

Fastest 40 for an O-Linemen. In the 4.75 range. Which is beastly.

Don't know the official length yet, but his vertical jump was massive as well.

Workout Warrior and an Oakland Raider in the first round.

How do they figure out the home / road element of the schedule?

So, we have to play our division home and on the road, but the other 10 games we play teams once. Five of those will be home and five will be road, but how do you determine which is which. By way of example, Dallas are playing Green Bay for the third straight year and in each of those years it has been at Lambeau. Similar situation with Indy and New England I believe.

pauldrulez 28-02-2010 04:32 PM

It comes down to positioning. Pats-Colts for example.

2007 - both teams topped their divisions in 06. AFCSouth team was home.
2008 - both teams topped their divisions in 07. AFC South team was home.
2009 - both teams finished 2nd in their divisions in 08. But were down to play them anyway as divisional opponents.

2010 - both teams topped their divisions. But the AFC South team is away and the Pats are at home.

The reason according to my look at future scheduling is it goes like this.

AFC East teams:
2010 - host AFC South
2011 - host AFC South
2012, 2013 - host AFC West
2014, 2015 - host AFC North
2016, 2017 - host AFC South.

Basically it goes in a 6 year rotation with 2 years at a time. No idea why.

Really enjoying watching the Combine (yes, i'm that sad).

Some very good players on show, but there are some late round players I like the look of.

Brandon Banks, WR out of Kansas State looks explosive.
Jarrett Brown, QB from West Virginia has been accurate and has had some firepower on the throws.

I don't think one division hosts another. For instance, in 2010 the NFC East plays the NFC North. Green Bay hosts Dallas next year, but we host Green Bay. Similarly, last year, the NFC East played the NFC South. New Orleans hosted Dallas, but we hosted New Orleans.

pauldrulez 28-02-2010 05:11 PM

I mean, they host the team who finish in the same position.

2010 - Patriots (1st) host Colts (1st)
Jets (2nd) host Texans (2nd)
Dolphins host Jags
Bills host Titans

And that's all they play in that division.

NFL pondering changes to overtime playoff rules

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- An NFL spokesman said Saturday the league could change its overtime format for playoff games at a meeting next month.

Under the new format, both teams would get the ball at least once unless the first team to get the ball scores a touchdown, Greg Aiello said. If the first team to get the ball makes a field goal and the other team ties the game, action would continue until a team scores again.

Under the current rules, the first team to score wins.

"There have been various concepts that have been discussed in recent years, but this one has never been proposed," Aiello said.

The competition committee will discuss the new concept with teams and players at league meetings March 21-24 in Orlando, Fla., when it could come to a vote. At least two thirds of the teams would need to agree to the changes for new rules to be adopted.

The competition committee met with the players' union and players on Thursday during the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Discussion continued when the competition committee met with a general managers' advisory committee on Friday.

The debate about the rules gained steam after the NFC championship game, when New Orleans beat Minnesota 31-28 in overtime and Brett Favre's Vikings never got the ball in the extra period. Under the proposed rule, Minnesota would have gotten another possession because the Vikings didn't allow a touchdown.

Overtime was adopted for regular season games in 1974, a sudden-death format that allowed games to end in a tie if neither team scored in 15 minutes. Overtime for playoff games always has been sudden death.

What happens if Team A wins the toss, scores a FG then Team B gets the ball and scores a touchdown?

pauldrulez 28-02-2010 05:57 PM

Team B wins.

I don't like it though as Team B have 4 down territory, Team A don't.

But, it's better than what happens now.

Team B wins.

It's first to six, basically.

LMFAO.

They just went around the crowd showing the coaches.

Pete Carroll. Hoodie, jacket.

McDaniels. Hoodie.

Parcells and Al Davis in their normal seats.

And finally:

Andy Reid - sitting there. Nice and Smart UNTIL...

An assistant slides a burger across the table.

Cue Rich Eisen laughing his arse off.

:(

Swanny32 28-02-2010 07:48 PM

At least he was in a suit!

pauldrulez 28-02-2010 08:40 PM

They also showed the Browns' private suite.

Mangini looking ******** as always.
Holmgren looking mildly intelligent.

They had 2 breakfast bar type things full of food.

There was only 2 of them :D

What's the incentive for team A to kick a FG? If they lead by 3 after 15 minutes, they win, I suppose.

Team B don't really have 4th down territory more than Team A though. If they are 4th and 15 on their own 20 line then they're going to punt it. Likewise if Team A are 4th and 2 in the red zone they'll go for it? Particularly if they're playing someone like the Colts.

pauldrulez 28-02-2010 08:48 PM

It'll be first to 6 points or the game ends after the first position.

If Team A score a TD, they'll be the winners as Team B had the chance to prevent them scoring it, but couldn't.

If Team B score a Defensive TD on the first possession, then they win.

If Team A score a FG, and Team B then score a FG, then it'll continue until the next team scores.

If Team A score a FG and Team B have a turnover (whether INT, Fumble or failed 4th down), the game is over.

And i've started a new blog for the draft. There wont be much interesting stuff on there (i'm great at self-promoting). But it'll have my notes on players and what I have seen over the last week and next. Basically, it's everything I can remember about the players before I see the tape on them.

Updates begin tonight

Done my bit on the main QBs on the blog.

pauldrulez 28-02-2010 09:28 PM

Updated the blog again, this time with my sleepers/players to watch.

Those that have seen more College Football than me, comment away.

And those that are wondering who the players are can also comment.

And quickly, Big props to Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida State. Clearly suffers with stuttering and doesn't like public speaking. But, he done very well in his interview. People that go through that with trouble are high on my list of favourites.
