We need to re-sign Leigh Bodden or we're screwed going into 2010 with no pass-rush and 1 decent Cornerback.

Another Sunday with no NFL, I sat down in my chair earlier this evening and booted my laptop up, I got the excited feeling that I get when I sit down and boot up for NFL and Fantasy Football on a Sunday evening, it was then quickly ruined when I realised that all I was booting up the laptop for was to check my email and that there was no NFL on at all. This is gay, hurry up September!!!

Steady on - they have a handful of strong building blocks in place (Stafford, Calvin, VDB, Williams) but they're at least a couple of years off being anything near 'very good'.

Burleson is another Bryant Johnson sized risk.

But, I like what they're doing.

They've got their QB, RB (if Smith recovers from his sophomore slump), WR (Megatron) and their TE. They'll likely get Suh as well to improve the D. If Burleson works out, Bryant Johnson could be 3rd WR and wont have so much pressure on him.

They need to get some decent Secondary players. They've got Delmas who looked pretty good, get him a guy to go next to him. Or get him a Corner.

I think they should go after Ryan Clark.

Clark's coming to Miami. Lions can have some other scrub.

Donovan McNabb to St Louis in exchange for the 1st pick in the 2nd round. They were discussing this on last week's Football Today. Would you accept this if you were:

a) the Rams
b) the Eagles

From the Rams' point of view, you get Ndamahkong Suh and Donovan McNabb with your first two picks.

From the Eagles point of view, you get what is now a very valuable pick. This year there is an overnight break between the first and second rounds, so you would be able to entertain a few overnight offers over that pick. From that point of view it might actually be more valuable than a late first round pick. Also, there is a deeper draft class this year.

They also discussed the Patriots' free agency / draft options.

They talked about the Pats making a play for Brandon Marshall (1st round tender) or Vincent Jackson (1st and 3rd round tender). Then, as the Pats have 3 second round picks this year, they should make a play for Leon Washington, spreading the load with Kevin Faulk. That, plus the fact that they have the Raiders' 1st round pick in 2011 puts them in a strong position.

Actually, if there is no football in 2011, what happens to draft picks that year?

No doubt in my mind, got to take that if it's offered, we have pick 22 in the first round so with that as well as 1st pick in the 2nd round we could add two very talented and highly rated players. I can't see it happening though, Reid has said that McNabb is our QB for next year, as much as I would like a new QB I just can't see it happening until Reid moves on.

My view is that trading McNabb now has limited upside and high risk.

But the longer we keep him the less we will get in exchange for him.

But I think we are already past the optimal point of getting something decent back for him. We might as well keep him until he's bust (or until he won't renew on our terms, could be next year).

it's only my opinion but the 1st pick in the 2nd round is more than just a little something for him, I'd be biting their arm off for that. The calibre of QB's this year apparently isn't all that great so it's unlikely we'd get anyone worth of the starting role but if we drop him for the pick, sign up someone shite like Mark Bulger just as backup for Kolb, then next year bag ourselves a nice shiny new QB if the quality is a slightly higher standard.

I'll give my thoughts on this while time winds down on my day.

Brandon Marshall - No Thanks to a first round pick. Attitude of a toilet. Though, for a conditional 2nd round pick (becoming our lowest first in 2011), i'd consider it as well as a prove yourself contract.

VJax - too much to give up, but would be a great replacement for Moss.

Washington - Not for a 2nd. Coming back from broken leg. Cannot pick up the blitz. Faulk is the best at that in the league. It's why he is still around. Best all-round 3rd down back in the league. Draws, Screens, split out wide and picks up the blitz. Yet he is still un-signed.

I just want Bodden and Faulk re-signed and build through the draft.

2011 - there will be a draft, then football ends for the year.

Well, there is the new Peyton Manning, Sam Bradford (too soon?)

There are a lot of half-decent QBs this year. Some will fit better in certain NFL teams than others. Like Clausen may fit better in a place like Seattle, than a place like the Giants.

Are there any as good as Stafford/Sanchez though? Probably not, in which case I'm not really interested.

Bradford is as good as any that have come out for 5 years. But has injury concerns.

Clausen played in a pro-style offense, so comes out NFL-ready but has less talent than Bradford.

I'd have said that both are better than Sanchez was when he came out. I though Stafford was over-rated and a wuss. But I was wrong :angel:
